What's Better Than Half Of A Cartier Bracelet?
okara gold replied to Compass's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
How cool is that?? Your perseverance really paid off, not to mention the other bonus rings found while searching for the Cartier half. Well done!! Merry Christmas! Bob -
Nice looking ring there Dewey! You certainly earn everyone you find. I know how you hunt and it's not a willy nilly quick sweep up and down the beach. Congrats!

Thanks Joe. I’m anxious to see what it can do. I see it can hit tiny bits of metal using 7 delay and has awesome depth especially on iron. Wish I could run half that low of delay in the saltwater. I haven’t tried increasing the sensitivity much beyond the preset level. More time and more manipulation of knobs is what I need. 😆

I’m thinking it was about 8 to 10 inches. I was pretty accurate in digging it and really surprised it it’s size in relation to the clear target response. What I’m not used to is how loud the AQ sounds off on coin size objects say... 6 inches deep. With my other machines, that sound would indicate the target is just below the surface. So I take a shallow scoop and it’s still in the ground. Gotta dig deeper the first time around. I’m still real new with this machine so time will tell.

AQ Scores Its First Gold Ring
okara gold replied to okara gold's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I was at a different beach yesterday and there were quite a few shells mixed in with the sand. Trying to run 7.5 was not easy, so I opted for 8.5 which really made it more stable. I was hunting where the waves were rolling onto shore. The amount of delay is certainly dependent on the sand matrix. Coil control and a steady speed is a big factor. Bob -
AQ Scores Its First Gold Ring
okara gold replied to okara gold's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I’ve been using all metal. Some of the iron targets would give a double beep in some directions but I dug them anyway. There were not many targets and all is from a 3 1/2 hour hunt. Will be back at it tomorrow. I play with the tone and mute a little but still dig just about all. -
Went out this morning to a high tide and hunted all wet sand. Second target I dug was extremely deep and smooth sounding in all directions. I was hunting at 7.5 delay and ATS around 1. After 4 full scoops and with pinpointing carefully done, out came this 14K, 7.9 gram ring with 5 small diamonds. I was pleasantly surprised as our beaches are still sanded in and it was only 10 minutes into the hunt. Another "first" for me is the small Mexican 10c coin.

15" Coil On The Equinox Strikes Again And Again

Absolutely right! Lots of variables determine a diamonds value. With a diamond... size isn’t everything. 😊 -

Nice going! Looks heavy and a big diamond. -
Nice looking ring! I went to the beach once and the first target I dug was a gold ring. I thought ... Here we go!! After 3 hours I had one gold ring and one penny. You just never know.

My Aq's First Bit Of Gold
okara gold replied to okara gold's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I sent the whole thing in describing two problems I thought I had. The foremost was intermittent decrease and / or complete cutoff in one earcup opposite the side where the wire attaches. The other was a positive sound / reaction when touching the outer right hand plastic housing on the pod while partially submerged in saltwater. The AQ was returned to me with a note saying "circuit replaced". I went hunting with it and the first time out after about an hour or so, the volume suddenly cut off on one side again... I was bummed.... I gently wiggled all wires and knobs, checked all connections and no difference. I then pressed in on the faulty earcup and suddenly the volume was working again. I let go and off it went. It did this several times until I could no longer fix it. At least I was relieved that the problem / source had been absolutely determined. I contacted Rick and FT and another set of headphones were quickly on there way. I have used the machine about 14 hours now in and out of the water and everything is working perfectly. -

If the metal makes a sound... I'm digging it from the ground!! -
My Aq's First Bit Of Gold
okara gold replied to okara gold's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
Hmmm... I did pass on some faint one way signals thinking they were probably bad. I'll start digging those in the near future. Was just kinda concentrating on the X pattern good signals. -
My Aq's First Bit Of Gold

The LAST 3 pics are todays. -
Hello everyone, Got my AQ over a month ago and it had a faulty set of headphones from the get go as one side would intermittently cut on and off. FT wasn't sure about the problem being in the headphones and had me send back the whole machine. It was gone for almost a month. FT gave me a new headset and all is well again. I've been out about 7 times now and just finished a 6 hour water hunt today. The AQ found its first gold today... a small 14K, 1.5 gram earring, silver ring and junk jewelry and 21 coins. I have found a number of gold rings in the past at this spot and have been hunting it for years with 2 different PI's and more recently the Excalibur and Nox. The last time I used the Nox for (5 hours), I found 5 coins and no jewelry. Targets had been very hard to find until today. This was my first time there with the AQ, and there were plenty of DEEP targets that created just a slight bump in the threshold. There is very little trash and I am now learning some differences in the sounds. The first 3 pictures are today. If you notice the coins and jewelry... nothing there are "fresh" drops. All is deep and only one bottle cap that was banging loud and close to the surface along with some other trash. There are also a couple pictures of some of the past days with the AQ. I don't usually take pictures of the trash but will start doing so. Our beaches are really sanded in so pickings are slim. I am using Joe's 11 hour Big Battery, It works great and is just what I need. Stay tuned...Bob

A Few Good Treasure Coast Erosion Days!
okara gold replied to Joe D.'s topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
Nice pictures. I see different colored bags. Do the blue ones show more of an erosion effect took place or is it just different colors. Are they pretty much all along the treasure coast or just in certain areas. Thanks! Bob K- 7 replies

Gigmaster With The AQ
okara gold replied to vive equinox's topic in First Texas - Bounty Hunter, Fisher & Teknetics
I would think that FT would help with the warranty. I will find out. They received it on Oct. 22nd. Still waiting.... patiently. And I have been very pleasant with them on the whole process. At least the weather is crappy here so that does help. My Excalibur is in for repair also. Good thing I still have the Nox working. -

Very nice pendant. Looking forward to putting my AQ on the hunt after it comes back from FT. -
What an incredible 2 day hunt! There is so much gold out there just waiting to be found. It peaks its head out of the sand for a little while and then back to hiding.
