Well, bring Iām not a crafter like her, what ever looks good I pick it up, mostly the bigger cones, not sure of the differences too much. Most are opened up and look pretty nice. -
Gold Detecting, Mushroom And Berry Picking
Joe L replied to Sourdough Scott's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Strange as it seems, my wife loves to do crafts with pine cones. So most of the times I carry a cloth shopping bag, when hunting my wooded area I frequent, and bring her a bag full. She picks out the good ones and the rest feed my outside wood burner, As for mushrooms, my Dad used to take me along, gee around 55 years ago, and tried to teach me, as he called it, mushroom pickin, and now I wish I paid attention.š -

GhostMiner, youāre my supplier and I for sure need a fixā¦..just a couple pages to hold me overā¦. -
Well, all tested out in my back yard, mostly air testing until I get the jist of it. All looks good. I had some Alkaline batteries I tested her with while I wait for the nicads to charge, I got 2 solid blue and the rest are still charging, shouldnāt be long now.

All great info above. For me, even though I really donāt live in the ārightā area I am totally into prospecting and mining. When Iām into something I do so much research my mine explodes. I will say this, I have learned the most right here on these forums. There are a boat load of people here that have taught me, in reading threads, that on my trips I do west, IāM READY. i have panned here back in the east, but other than enjoyment of the actions ended up with,,,,enjoyment. Thatās ok for now. I now own a gold detector, which can be limited used for other things, so when I head out west on one of my trips, I hope I enjoy that as much. So my input on this thread, read, read, read. Joe

Whiskey and beer, ahh to be a minerā¦.oh yes, that gold stuff too. -
Itās finally in the houseā¦got Friday off and Iāll start digging nuggets in my back yard. LMAO. It will be put to good use, and will make my numerous (well 3 or 4 a year) trips out west. Other than that, I have a few small nuggets and will have a hoot of a time learning it. Joe

Sounds like one heck of a day and adventure. Really like the photos and even though I am just, for now, an armchair prospector, I do live through guys,,, until the my first gold detector shows up. Joe

Well now after reading the manual several times, I just hope the shipper (distributer) and UPS can get it to me this upcoming week. Fingers crossed. Weather is warming here and I have a few areas up in our mountains , yes itās just NYS, and I know we are nugget less, but itās just more than that. Itās more than just pulling a nugget out, itās the adventure and these semi older legs need more than searching parks and fields with my Xterra pro. So for me itās a detector and a dream.. And then itās or trips out west, we do a few times a year, friends in Colorado and we always take a drive south and I have a bit love for Arizona. Luckily for me my wife ālikesā the area too, so with the start of our retirement, you never know. Sorry just babbling on now. Now,I have to figure out the logistics of flying with a detector. Thanks for all for all the input and info. Joe

Unable to find it on the Garrett site.

A small story and then a question. ordered my detector from a long time detector dealer down south. Order was smooth. So I get the UPS shipping notice and I see Texas distributor entered my Name a bit off and street name missing the first letters. Oh boy. So contacted the dealer and even called the distributor and they said the contacted UPS and it should be ok. Weāll see. Now the question. Every detector I have had, I think, you just plugged the charger in to charge. So it says it runs great on just regular alkaline batteries but I like rechargeable. Do the rechargeable batteries use the same holder? Manual not that clear on that. Also regular nicads? And are going rechargeable worth it due to shorter use.? Thanks , Joe

Ok, I upon reading something I found I guess its how fast the threshold recovers after the hum varies??? Hmm
-
Still a bit confused, I know I can adjust threshold but there is. SAT adjustment also I guess you set to let it set your threshold. I guess Iām over thinking and should just go out and detect. lol. Thanks
-
I searched the internet but, still not sure What does SAT adjustment mean on a metal detector? What is SAT. Thanks, Joe
