Hi Steve, The only info that I have was that the picture was sent to the Detech factory in Bulgaria from an anonymous finder in West Australia saying thanks for making a great coil. Nugget weighed half a kilo.

Merry Christmas Paul and Fred! The meteorite was 212 grams, found at 14in, said coil performed great among hot rocks. Fred the gold pictures on the coil are for those who don`t find much and need to match up their pieces to be sure. These new coils are bringing a new life to the older Minelabs.

I think when the ZED came out with its "New Technology" that no one seems to really understand but does work, it caused a new up surge of thinking with the top coil companies and the results have been better and more sensitive coils. Necessity is the mother of invention and we all benefit from these attempts. No one is going to tell you what`s in each of their models, or how or why it is different only that the manufacturer feels that they have developed something that surpasses previous models. Any coil that is waterproof, stable and more sensitive will help to find more gold.

Fred, you are a Detech man! I watched you kill it with the 10x15 last year. These new coils should be even better. I`ll keep you posted.

Hi Jasong, As soon as the Zed came out Detech realized the need for some new coils for those swinging the other GPX, GP and SD detectors. They took their time as I and Stinky Pete in OZ asked for some new coil offerings many, many months ago, so much time was involved in research and development. I have no info on the " New Technology ", only that they listed the coils to me under that heading in an email. So, I guess they will compete with the others out there. I expect an initial order soon and will post more on pricing and availability. Thanks for your interest.

I run a GPX 5000 and would like to know if there would be any noticeable difference on nuggets at depth of a gram or more with the 4500. Possible back up machine. Any info appreciated.

You might have your hands full with Paul, he has a medical backround and can treat himself and is very good at playing possum.

I think you caught it in it`s infantile stage, bury it in a flower pot with some gold building bacteria and see what happens!

This is great stuff Gold Hound and it is starting to make sense, but being geologically impaired I realize that I have a long way to go. Yet you have given me some ideas to use that may put me on to more gold after the first piece is found. One that comes to mind is recording the elevation of the patch and following that trend around the hill and adjoing areas to see if it outcrops again, also paying attention to the type of rock that the gold is associated with, even if I don`t know its make up. Need to slow down and become more observant.

I have read that some early Australian fossickers followed a black indicator line as thin as a pencil and it would be right off the gold shedding reef, have you ever seen one of these lines? I believe they are a carbon make up.

Hi JW, Good to hear from you and hope you are on the gold. I`m savoring each bit of info and appreciate all the advice, at some point in time I have to man up and get this show on the road, just have to learn the basics then move to the finer points. I do have good technique, learned from one of the best in WA in 2012, because of my injuries low and slow is my only way, so I am blessed in that respect. I am thinking heavily of a test garden using mineralized soil to a depth of a meter, that way I could experiment with settings and coils. Do you know of any way I could get an average of WA or mineralized ground in your area? I can get some pretty mean ground from Virginia and adding black sand should give me the mineralization I need, but don`t know what iron/ground number to use. I do have an MXT that would give me a reading in the prospect mode. Any thoughts appreciated.
