  1. It’s so small it’s a blur even with a magnified visor or I’m just old.
  2. Thanks matt, it has been fun! My co-workers said forget Oak Island we have Chris and he actually finds stuff.
  3. Today the better half and I hit the camp. She used the Equinox with 6” coil because the 11” is too heavy for her. I had the DEUS with 11” coil. The DEUS takes some concentration but it does pull some stuff out. Tiny to large it sees it. I don’t mind the false at times on flat iron. Anyways here are some pics of my finds today. The little button is a sailing ship. The pistol probably has a tale or two. The buckle was in a bed of iron and gave a sharp blip on the DEUS.
  4. I am not Norcal6er. But funny thing is I know him. These have never been posted.
  5. Years back a family friend was moving and we went to say goodbye. On the way out I noticed an old sewing kit in the trash so me being me, I snagged it. It had these two buttons in with the other stuff. I’m just curious if anybody knows the age of these? They look like really nice versions of what we all dig on occasion. Cell phone pics aren’t the greatest.
  6. Empty nesters etc maybe Sonora area north. Coulterville area is dead and its a long drive to any shopping. Seems that the back roads I have traveled forever are now all busy and there is a lot of trash and dumping, Shooters leave messes everywhere.
  7. We have found only 2 Chinese coins and 1 Chinese lock. The Chinese coins were 100 plus yards apart. I would think there would be more but no so. I think out of all the coins (11) we have found here, all but 1 was next to a piece of slate sticking up from the ground. It is a very interesting place that gives up a little at a time at this point.
  8. Ok Tom I get it and you are right it does seem to like the flat iron.. I still have the Nox for fast moving hunting. I am new to the DEUS but I like it.
  9. Hi EL, It was my first run with the DEUS and it was pretty warm out in the sun. I managed to find a complete and in very good shape pick, a small two piece button and a few musket balls and lead pieces. One thing I keep finding are wads of thin lead sheets. I would guess that was what they bought to melt for pistol/rifle balls? I need some time with the DEUS to get it down and I bought it with the 11 inch coil when the 9 inch was probably what I needed.
  10. I’m thinking an electric bicycle may be in my future.
  11. Tom, the DEUS is just another “tool” in my shed. The Equinox has absolutely killed it for me and the Vanquish my wife uses literally sucks with the mineralization where we currently hunt. The Nox is quiet and hits coins like Thor’s hammer. The Vanquish leaves you guessing the whole time. I bought the Deus as a toy basically and I intend to see what it can do. Funny that the Deus sounds like a kids fart machine and again the Nox is sweet as pie. We shall see how it works out. I know another gold rush relic hunter who swears by the DEUS and he has been really helpful and knowledgeable with my finds. So I’ve already bought it and I will find the goods with it God willing. I almost bought a CTX but the price is way high for something that could be replaced anytime.
  12. That is a pretty piece of gold. You can keep the scorpion though.
  13. Well I can say RV life can be rough. I lived in my parents RV for a year in Bakersfield for a new job. I was home for the weekend and the cold water knob blew out of the shower flooding the whole rig. The neighbor lady shut the water off for me. What a mess. You are living an adventure and this stuff comes with it I guess... still fun though.
  14. Interesting because after a full day of detecting, I will wake up with my right middle finger locked up. Feels weird. I’m kinda glad I’m not the only one.
  15. F350. The Bowie is a favorite of mine. Caprock the Deus came in today but the coil charge clip wasn’t in the box so I called them and it’s on the way. Tom, I have identified 7 cabin sites, only one is still somewhat “standing”. This area is very long and seems the cabins were in two groups. I haven’t found it on old maps but it’s in line with a few known sites. I’ll keep plugging away at it but damn those aching muscles.
  16. We headed out Saturday morning to the camp. Wife has given up on the Vanquish because all she digs is square nails. So we swapped detectors later in the day. She then found an ax head and a big chisel. I scored the dime and other stuff with the Equinox before the switch. We bought a curio cabinet to house our growing collection of history so I will include a photo of it. Hope everyone is doing well out there.
  17. But you got out and had some fun. Tomorrow maybe some nice silver?!
  18. I do tend to go out with my eyes wide open and look for disturbed areas or foundations. I have mostly been a nugget shooter but the relics are more fun at this point so, going back to places I found nugget hunting will keep me busy for a while.
