It seems like since a concentric coil has two windings that the one smaller windings could be separated out and used on the vlf side and the larger windings could be used on the pulse side. Basically two mono coils in one.

It's been available since day one - read the three posts I made here: I do believe Minelab testers do a very thorough testing and research job on their detectors, but I do not feel like they explain it through their marketing charts very well. So I would hope Minelab could add enough standard target size information on their next comparison chart to allow any one to re-create a similar test bed. An example would be using several minted gold bars from sub-gram and up or even some more common objects like coins.

My first 6000 unit was needing an auto-tune about every 5 minutes, but with the headphones on it was pretty good and I did not have to hit the auto-tune anymore. One of JP’s early post on this subject was dead-on as he said it had a speaker feedback loop issue. Woody said that the audio micro processor was too close to a bleeding out or faulty component and this was the issue that needed corrected. I am now very pleased with the 6000 performance after the audio update was done as it really is the most smaller deep gold pi on the market, just not the cheapest unit. Come on Minelab 6000 for $3,999 😃 I will mention that I have checked several early on units that never had an issue with this, so must of been a select amount that resulted in needing the repair.

I did a rough count on the most used/favorite coils and added them up minus the single numbers, thanks everyone for sharing your thoughts and experiences. Don't be so sure Steve.... from what I hear, this isn't so far from reality, Hopefully the 20% more depth is on all sizes and shapes of gold and not just a chart claiming better depth. I would still like to see the actual Star Chart and GPZ 40% deeper testing site details on how they came to these conclusions. I am also worried that the next release will have proprietary coil options that do not cover all gold types or sizes until you upgrade to the flagship version, even the 7000 never allowed us to buy any approved coils under 12”. In the end, I guess Minelab still controls the market and I’ll just have to conform and buy whatever performance improvements help me be able to find more targets.

They really need a new lineup on all there gold detectors prior to the 6000’s release. Need a SDC and GPX Pro to go with the GPZ Pro and a multi frequency gold vlf.

I have been waiting on the Axiom lite package to come to the US before I stock up on them, a lot better package than the standard ones and will save a lot of money for the purchaser. The 5000 seems more of a specialty detector for people wanting to have no proprietary coils and the ability to use any sized spiral coils on crazy deep stuff.

I would be glad if Minelab would lower the MAP price on the 5000 to match the competition as they usually make it fair to the dealers when this happens. In my opinion only I believe Minelab will win the company competition in the long run as they have the majority of the patents. Can you share which companies have the new PI’s coming out. Only know of Nokta currently and Algoforce and Fisher is old news?

Morning Gerry, I understand as the 7000 came out with a free goldmonster, so dealers stock up, then the next month they do a 25% of 7000 sale. Now you have to sell off your stock at cost. The Manticore 30% off sale probably caught many dealers that had a inventory at the old price. Wish we had an agreement that gave us a warning about sales a few months prior so we do not overstock. I have been doing more drop shipping lately to avoid this dilemma, but this also has its downside. When is the new gold release coming out Gerry, you mentioned soon?

The GPX-5000 has not been on our price list since last year and all stock was depleted about that time frame also. This new shipment came in from who knows where, but no word on if it’s a one time offering or if they have more coming. I would take a wild guess and say they are trying to move 5000’s wherever they can to deplete inventories to be able to put out a new release at some point in time.

The new MAP price is $4,599 This is the first batch at the 2024 price as the old ones were all pretty much sold off when the price increased.

I guess Minelab heard our desire for the GPX-5000 in the US… Have ordered quite a few of these new units with 3 years manufacture warranty. Veteran’s 15% Discount also. Looks like a selection of coils that I would think would cover almost most any target at any depth or size possible with a detector. I might have to rethink things a bit. I just checked their web-site and they do not offer this coil anymore, kinda would like one, hopefully they bring them back.

For myself I tend to use the following coils the most: GPZ-7000 14x13” Stock DOD GPX-6000 10x5” Goldhawk Mono GPX-5000 14x9” Evolution Mono Equinox 900 6” DD Gold Bug 2 6x3” CC

The detectors you’re looking at are about the best on the market for low mineralized gold fields. Hopefully you have mostly lower mineralized ground that you go to then you’ll do just fine with the 900 or Manticore or other comparable brands. Once you get into more mineralized ground then the PI detectors are going to come into place for getting any depth. The Algoforce E1500 is the first detector that fits the low cost PI option but is not available in the US quite yet. The older second hand low cost PI detectors do not have very good sensitivity to the sub-gram gold, so not a good choice unless you know there’s some bigger nuggets where you’re detecting. Most goldfields are picked over pretty good, but if you have private permissions all bets out off. sorry for getting off topic a bit 😖

Thanks for the chart, maybe I’ll find one of those numbers one day as that’s the main reason I still use a VLF and that is to find a gold coin.

Attached is Phil Beck’s from Minelab’s write-up on it.

Nokta is really a hard working company to come out with so many detectors in such a short timeframe, probably the top company for new releases by far.

Glad to see this statement also from Nokta. This is going to be a great year for PI players in the industry.

This is getting really interesting but glad to hear about it. This is probably a really good timing for this with all that’s happening currently in the PI market. If the Axiom came out before the 6000 there would of been a lot more Axioms out there now, same thing would happen for Nokta if they can get this out before the Algoforce release in other regions. I like they designed it to be specifically designed for gold or relics, sounds like a great way to achieve what you’re aiming at looking for.
