  1. $500 for a coil would be ridiculous, I like the detector but I'd seriously consider selling mine and getting a deus ii if the small coil is that expensive.
  2. Hey OBN, your video is titled "Nox and Excalibur", is he using a nox or manticore? If not do you know what mode/settings your friend was using? Also do you know what he had his upper and lower limits set at? Thanks!
  3. I hunt relic sites, I did the same as you thinking it could be something good but deep and instead iron. What I do now is if at-hc give good signals but at-lc gives iron I move on. If both at-hc and at-lc give positive signals I dig some dirt away and check the signal, if it gets worse with more iron I close up the hole and move on. At-lc doesn't have the same max depth as at-hc but if its hitting it as iron I'm not gonna spend to much time on the signal. One other thing if I'm getting a good tight signal with some iron grunt I will investigate those as there's a possibility that its a good target with iron near it. So with my experiences 98-99 signals have usually been iron. Have you tried using the new stabilizer feature yet at your sites?
  4. I watched your video and as you were adjusting the stabilizer and how it was affecting the signal I noticed that stabilizer still said OFF when you were increasing it. For the stabilizer, the new instruction manual does mention that you're only supposed to use it in heavy iron. But it doesn't matter much if the on/off setting for it doesn't work! Definitely something off with the update!
  5. Just saw a youtube vid from TNS saying you can go back to older versions. Plug your manticore into your computer, open the update tool, and in the bottom right corner of the update tool screen are three dots. Click those and you can get to the other version!
  6. I've noticed some different behavior of the detector with the new update. My hunting environment is in the woods at 1700-1800 home sites, low to medium mineralized soil. So far I've mostly been using AT-LC and it doesn't seem as noisy any more in the iron. With the prior version it would hit on the iron constantly and false alot, the new version it doesn't false as much even when not using the stabilizer. Im even able to run it at higher sensitivity without it chattering from EMI. I've only been out with it twice since updating it so I'm not sure if it's experiencing any depth loss. I'll have to test it some more at home today.
  7. New manual to go with the new update https://www.minelab.com/__files/f/505058/4901-0428-2 Inst Manual, Manticore EN.pdf https://www.minelab.com/usa/metal-detectors/manticore
  8. I'm thinking the nox redesign was in the works for awhile along with the xterra pro. I mean the xterra pro is mostly a Nox with the multifreqency removed from the programming. Also those new xterra coils look exactly like the vanquish coils so they probably didn't put much time/effort into designing those to work with the xterra. Every time I take my manticore out I find a few more things at some hunted out places and I keep thinking "If I had the smaller coil I'm sure I'd find even more!". I really want some sort of 3rd party audio gear, the headphones the manticore came with sound good but their too bulky and I prefer ear buds. I believe this is also a real possibility. Well FY23 is ending on June 30th maybe we'll be able to find some info in the FY23 annual report when its released. Maybe they're waiting for the start of the next FY to make any announcements. https://codan.com.au/investor-centre/annual-reports/
  9. I'm guessing minelab was caught off guard with the Deus II release and got the manticore finished as quick as possible just to get it out and available to the public. This probably involved focusing all programing efforts at that time on just the 11" coil and the current software version might not even support the other coils. I'm betting that minelab will release the new coils at the same time that the new software update becomes available.
  10. That's the British Pounds sign £, Euro sign is €. Hopefully it will be $350 and not $400, especially since the CTX 17" coil is going for $400.
  11. Are you converting 330 gbp to usd? Cause I'm getting $410 when convert it on a currency converter, https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=330&From=GBP&To=USD
  12. Instead of glue and velcro check out 3m Command velcro strips. No mess!
  13. How deep were those two coins? I'm curious if they were really deep or just next to iron.
  14. I think most people that wanted to sell theirs to fund a new machine already did. The 600 & 800 are still good machines and its nice to have a backup or loaner so I'm guessing people are holding on to theirs, that's why I kept mine.
  15. Check the serial number, did they send you the same unit back?
  16. I'm pretty sure the manticore is gonna noise cancel out the trx because its causing the detector the most emi at that point in time, but when you turn off the trx the noise cancel channel that the manticore is on may not be the best choice. Since Fishersari said they're not having any issues maybe there's something with you're trx that's causing it. can you turn down the power level for the trx? Here's a bunch or random ideas to try, have you tried going to the noise cancel screen and manually switch the channel up/down one when using the trx and then switch it back when you're done pinpointing? Does putting the manticore in pinpoint mode while the trx is on still cause interference? If you push the menu button and go to the ground balance screen while the trx is on, is there still interference?
  17. I've got a Nokta pulsedive and depending on how close the coil is to the pinpointer I can get varying degrees of interference between the two. If I get interference I just move the detector coil further away and it usually solves the issue.
  18. I'm also glad I got mine from Cabela's, I couldn't justify putting down the whole price without a guarantee of receiving it when it was released. I feel like I got to skip to the front of the line by buying from them. But this whole release has given me a good look into the potential future of minelab and I get the feeling that the money counters are running the show over there at minelab. The engineers at minelab have done a great job with the manticore and I know that they're working on a new software update but I hope the money counters don't hold the engineers back from providing additional software updates in the future.
  19. Sorry I meant I use Auto GB, I always forget that you could actually manually ground balance.
  20. Ya I noticed the same thing that ground balance tracking doesn't adjust very fast to large changes. Auto ground balancing first then turning on tracking is the way to go.
  21. When you originally pre-ordered did their site or documentation during pre-order process say that you would be charged $45 fee for cancelling? If not call your credit card company and complain, you might be able to get that money back.
  22. I re-watched the video and he doesn't mention that its a test bed and I didn't see any markings on the ground to indicate it. Either way I would have dug that signal even if turning 90 degrees it didn't sound as good or turned to all iron signal.
  23. I know the title of the video is "Deep iron 13" but he never shows what he dug so we really have no idea if it was a good target, just iron, or a good target with iron mixed in. I also would have wanted to him to turn 90 degrees and check what the signal sound like that way. When he lowered the recovery speed the target trace showed there was quite a bit of iron so the slower recovery speed could cause iron masking, with the higher recovery speed it might be seeing a good target in between the iron pieces. It would have been faster to have dug some dirt out and rechecked the signal then switch through every mode. Check this video out, he's showing what he digs in some heavy iron.
  24. For the small coils I agree with you, I probably wouldn't get a 10x5, Id prefer the 8x5.5. If I were to get a smaller coil then that id probably want the 6x3.5. For mid coil I would stick to the 11". For the large coil I would consider a 15". Any larger I would be concerned about extra weight causing it to be imbalanced. With your ctx do you think the extra weight from the battery pack mitigates the weight from a larger coil?
