  1. Dave, pretty much a 6in. coil user with the equinox 800 &900 most of the time. Let me say I tried the 10x5 for about 6 mo. I decided I preferred the 6in. Not so much falsing on the edge of the coil as falsing off the tip of a rusty bolt or nail. Ever notice, pop the plug, the pinpointer say staight down. you think this is good, but as you dig the signal starts pulling to the side wall of the plug. This is that. So the 900 seems to do iron wrap more than the 800. When I suspect iron wrap or iron falsing I'll pinpoint to see if the signal pinpoints under the sweet spot of the coil. If it doesn't it s junk, a good target won't move. Also pinpoint can give you an idea of target size. Next what I like to do is go into 2 tone. You would be surprised how descriptive 2 tone can be on a target that sounds sweet in 5 tone. Scratchy, elongated tones are definitely not a coin sized non-ferrous target. Throw a coin on the ground, sweep in 2 tone. Throw a rusty nail down and sweep that, you'll see what I'm talking about. Not foolproof but it will help a bit. Good luck. Mark
  2. Jeff thank you for your input. Will give the factory ones a try. Good luck and a mild winter to you. Mark
  3. One more thing if you will, Do you have the Nokta headphones and if so how do they compare to the Avantrees ? TIA.
  4. Jeff thank you thats good info. Can you tell me what model does pair with the Legend ? Appreciate it. Mark
  5. Are you able to reset yours ? I think thats where my problem might lay. Still sucks that I can't use them. Mark
  6. Chase that does sound plausible. At last attempt after turning them on they immediately went into pairing mode. Guess I'll have to break down and buy Nokta headphones. I won't use the ML80s, absolutely hate them. Thanks. Mark
  7. phrunt my bad. I am somewhat hardheaded and did not get what you were saying at first as to resetting the headphones. I tried several times but was not able to get them to reset. Again thanks. Mark
  8. gg thanks for the reply. Just tried killing the signal on the phone. Still a no go. Then I tried the ML80s and they paired right up. And then with them on I did a device erase to insure that function was working. It is. I thought of doing the update that phrunt had mentioned but after some reading I'm pretty sure its for better connectivity with other Nokta devices. Also as I had mentioned I had no problem pairing to Tayago bone conductors. Mark
  9. DSMITH thank you I will give it a try. Mark
  10. Jeff thanks for the input. I did do it as per the manual, repeated the steps several times along with several factory resets. And the Bluetooth signal from my phone is a good idea. Will shut it down and give it a try. But the question remains why does the ML80s and earbuds pair and not the Avantrees ? Particularly when everything else pairs interchangeably. Thanks. Mark
  11. phrunt thank for the reply. On my headphones I need to hold the power button down for 5 seconds or so until the red and blue lights begin to flash, which I did.At that point, Like I stated it would pair up immediately with my Bluetooth transmitter on the 900and after 30 seconds or so on the 800. As far as proximity to other Bluetooth devices, maybe but keep in mind all pairing was done in the same area and the ML80s and Conius earbuds paired to the Legend with no problem. I did do another factory reset, took them out on the back porch and tries again. Still, no go. I may try the update and see if that helps. Mark
  12. So I guess I'm looking for ideas or advice. When I bought a Legend I opted for the no headphone option as I had several Bluetooth devices, headphones, earbuds, and bone conductors. I originally had paired the bone conductors to the Legend. Unfortunately I lost them. So I decided to pair my headphones, Avantrees Auditions Pro model. I had bought back in 2019 to replace the ML 80s on the Equinox 800. I could not get them to pair with the Legend. They will pair right up with the 800 and to the transmitter on the 900. As per the manual I erased the old pairing to no avail. I did a factory reset, still nothing. So I tried my old ML80s (which I hate ) and they paired right up. So did the ear buds which were bought before the Avantrees. The Equinox which I believe is 4.2 and my transmitter is 5.0 why can't the Legend pair to them ? I really like my Avantrees, lightweight, comfortable and the audio is damn fine. Two major selling points over the Manticore was the third party headphone option and the mineralization meter. I'm going to be pretty upset if I can't use my favorite headphones. In hot weather I'll suffer through with earbuds but I really prefer the headphones. Any thoughts ? TIA Mark
  13. Tex good evening. I trust you saw the post on the WM09 module. However I don't think the module will be capable of pairing to a set of wireless buds or headphones. Hope I'm wrong. But if not mistaken it will only give you the option for plug in third party devices. Which to say its definitely a step in the right direction. After buying a 900 and Xterra Pro the headphone issue was one of the reasons I cancelled my order. As far as coils, hell Minelab can't even get one out for the Manticore, whats it been, almost a year ? I think a coil package might just be a bridge too far. lol. But we can hope.
  14. Jeff hi, did I read that right ? You say nickels are coming in at 57 to 64. I'm still using the 900 and my bin 2 nickels/midtones are set from 23 to 29. Being the same target scale for both I would think Ids would be a little closer than that. Have been slowly losing confidence in the 900 as the depth issues continue. Thanks for your report and will be interested to see hear your thoughts as time goes on. Good luck. Mark
  15. Not seeing it listed on their website. Can I ask where this info came from ? Been a long time coming if accurate. Thanks for sharing. Mark
  16. Just outstanding ! What a find/save. A dream find for any coinshooter. That one will be hard to top but have fun trying. Good luck. Mark
  17. Congrats on the cent trifecta and other relics 350. Maybe I missed it but I fail to see where any bad luck was around, looks like a great hunt to me. Good luck. Mark
  18. WOW ! Great mixed bag hunt. Quarter trifecta, token, toys, relics, a little bit of everything. Yard permissions like that are hard to find these days. I agree with the comment on leaving the pinched Ihp the way it is for display. Quite the conversation piece. The button is interesting, would love to know more about that. Congrats on the silver score and all the other cool finds. I would definitely hit that place a couple more times. Good luck. Mark
  19. Congrats to you and your buddy and on your first seated quarter. Hitting silver first makes the rest of the hunt that much nicer. Looks like you guys had a great time. Good luck. Mark
  20. Just read in the Manticore section that a possible second update may be coming. Meanwhile those of us with 900s are wondering if there will ever be an update . Back before the first Manticore update someone had posted from the e-mail response they got from Minelab about an update for the 900 and their reply was it would be released when ready. Implying that there was an update coming. Well since the first Manticore update which came with mixed results, it seemed to work well for some and then not so much for others in different parts of the country. So I have to think Minelab may be reworking the updates. SO MINELAB if You're READING, along with addressing the seriously way too jumpy numbers, better target Id's and other issues could you please include in the update, 1 the long noise cancel feature that the Manticore uses. 2 a mineralization meter and 3 please, please, PLEASE a third party headphone option. Thanks in advance. One other issue with the 900 that seems to be constant for me is deeper targets. After 60 + hunts with the 900 I have yet to hit deep coin sized targets, deeper than 4 inches. I thought it might be the ground I hunt but just recently I took the Xterra Pro to one of the same fields I hunt and it started hitting 7 & 8 inch pulltabs right away. As A matter of fact too many if you ask me. In the past I've hunted the same areas with the 800 and had no problems hittting coins at 8+ inches. Has anyone else encountered depth issues with the 900 ? Also a note of interest, in my area, I would say 90 % of the time the 800, 900 and Xterra Pro severely up average the Id numbers. Particularly pennies whether they are Ihps, wheats or memorials doesn't matter. And with the 900 and Xterra, they seem to lowball the numbers for dimes. Minelab help us out, we're waiting.
  21. Well done. Congrats on the gold coin and other cool relics. A dream bucketlister for most. Good to see your research paid off. Good luck. Mark
  22. Very nice Dave. Congrats on the sweet lookin Merc and the cool cross. That place definitely has more goodies waiting to be found. Good luck. Mark
  23. So Chase what are your thoughts now that you have had time to use and assess the 900 ? Being a 900 user myself I'd like to hear your opinion. Thanks
  24. Wow, its looks like Nokta just bitchslapped Minelab with the Accupoint compared to its feeble attempt with the Pro-Find 40. As if to say its no better than the 35. Maybe it is maybe its not, from what I read, confidence is not all that high. If Minelab ain't paying attention they better wake up. My Pro-Find 35 never made it out in the field after a some bench testing. Will try an Accupoint when available. What I don't get is why both companies are throwing so much money into lower end detectors with such a finite amount of treasure's left. Sure they can prey on the dreams of people finding gold at the beach but most when go on vacation want to relax, not metal detect. So that said it comes to relic hunters and coin shooters most quickly realize they want the best they can afford and give up on the lower end detectors. So again, why all these new entry level detectors ? I have an Xterra Pro. Took it to an old city park and have to say the SF 's did about as well as when the update came out for the 800 with the 4k option. Which is to say in 4K or 8k, 10k and so on made every pulltab. beavertail and every other piece of nonferrous crap sound and Id like a good target. And when it comes to metal detectors, from the posts I've been reading the $600 Legend is kicking butt compared to the 2 latest Minelab high end releases. And this is coming from a Minelab guy. I've had an 800 for over 5 years, a 900 for about 10 months now. I took some of the funds I had set aside for a Manticore and bought a Henry Golden Boy. And still have enough to buy a Legend if I decide to upgrade with another detector. Minelab, WAKE UP. The wolf has come knocking. My 2 cents.
  25. Very crisp Ihp. Congrats, nice save. Coinbook shows it t be worth 75 to 150 bucks. To me it would be a priceless find so I wouldn't bother to have it graded. But thats just me. I don't sell anything. Good luck. Mark
