  1. giving the Xterra Pro a serious look but I have a question on connecting a set of wireless neckband speaker to the Xterra Pro will any wireless earbuds or headphones work with the Xterra Pro or do you have to use a set from minelab ??? what is the wireless connection that the Xterra Pro utilizes to connect to the headphones ???
  2. Came home, charged it up, did some testing with supplied 12 inch, all seemed good. Went outside dug some coins still good. Decided to do some more testing in my basement only to find my 5 x10 Coiltek and my 6" Minelab Nox coils don't work. Connector is correct, and they will air test to just over 1 inch on max sensitivity. (I knew something was wrong as soon as I could max out the sensitivity in the basement.) But as they are, they don't function in any way that is useable, I am worried there is no fix, I guess I will be contacting Minelab service. Being able to interchange the coils was my biggest reason to buy it. 😥
  3. I understand Nox coils work on the Xterra, how about the Vanquish coils, will they work. Txquest
  4. Today i took my new X.Terra Pro out for a hunt. I used the Nox 800 coil on it to see what that would be like and see if there is any major difference between the 800 and the new Terra. There is some really rough weather at the moment and it was a bit hit and miss whether i would find anything. But there was 1 good spot. I set my machine up in Beach 2 , Recovery 3 and Sensitivity 24 ! , did a noise cancel and got going. Almost immediately i found a few coins, some on the surface by sight and others buried. The Terra seems to be like the Nox though i'm not sure of depth on the salt beach. That might be because the machine is single freq and the Nox is multi freq? After a few more coins i turned my back on the sea and paid for it. My lower half got the wash of a lifetime by a wave LOL and as i was wet that was it. I strayed into the water with the Terra and it seemed stable with only small light low toned chirps here and there. I'm sure that if i found a target i would have heard it and did find a pulltab in the water. I also found a non ferrous 1p coin right next to a 3 inch square piece of Iron scrap so the recovery speed seems good at 3 setting. That setting might be the reason for me thinking depth is not as good as the Nox? I kept up the hunt and found a lot more coins and found a junk ring encrusted in small shingle stones. and a junk toe ring and a junk Pendent. I think the new Terra is a good machine . Very good a backup to anyone who uses the Nox and even worth having as a cheap alternative to the much more expensive machines. Being able to use all the Nox coils and use the Nox 900 phones and with an adaptor use the phones from the Nox 800 and the August 650B phones it makes the Terra Pro a damned good bargain. I have always thought of the Nox's as the successor to the old Terra's but it looks like the new Pro is the real successor. About time too. Tomorrow i might go out with the Nox 800 , not sure yet or might with the Terra with its own coil on. This machine is going to eat into other machines sales. Or it should!
  5. I was looking at the X-Terra Pro manual and saw it has a manual ground balance, nice feature. I was surprised they let me now I could order one now also.
  6. A lot remains to be seen of the new X-Terra Pro vs. the established Simplex, but on paper and in theory $269 for a waterproof switchable frequency unit may leave Simplex in the rear view mirror. If it punches above its weight it may even compete nicely with the likes of the Anfibio. These companies seem keen to battle it out, continuing to raise the bottom of metal detectors up to what once would’ve been not that long ago considered mid to upper level performance and options. I’m sure Nokta is now wondering what consumers are thinking about where the Simplex line fits in. What say you? One thing I can say is there’s still an advantage to having a detector and coil tuned to one specific frequency, but can that overcome all the versatility of the new X-Terra?
  7. Especially after Minelab stated specifically they would not make them anymore?
  8. Minelab is going to release new detector? Find on taobao(china):
  9. Has anyone used an X-Terra 70? I don't see it listed in the detector database.
  10. I have moved most all posts regarding the older X-Terra models here. The main reason for this forum though is the X-Terra Pro breathing new life into the old name. Enjoy!
  11. Hi all. Im a new member here and my mind is still reeling from all the great information on this site. I've been looking for a new detector mainly for parks, fields and an occasional beach. My budget was $500 so a BH Time Ranger Pro or fisher 19 +5" coil would get me there until I started looking at the ML Xterra 705 duel pack $800 a huge jump in caliber and budget. What are your thoughts and experiences on the Xterra?
  12. I am doing the same test as I did with GMX and NOX. The first test I did was with the infinium with a 8' mono coil and I got nothing.I did a test one time with the same size white and yellow gold rings, and the yellow gold gave me a dig me hit and white gold nothing. This machine does not like small deep white gold rings.I bet the new AQ would hit it.I then tried the X-terra with the 6'' 18kz dd coil.I did it in prospect mode with max sens. and got a very soft signal but repeatable. This is max depth for this combo.I then tried it in coin mode with every thing open in 1 tone and I got a very soft hit with -8 and 48 as id which are iron wrap around #'s. The infinium did hit the 9" nickel I buried 8 years ago with a nice soft signal. This machine likes deeper yellow gold better in my opinion.
  13. So my trip is coming up i asked left right and center as it is hard to get a straight answer......so i may take my Xterra and use it .I guess GPX and Z are far too long to learn in 2 weeks ......Deus even in 80khz may struggle with OZ soil........not many Deus in Australia yet.....Have you ever tried the prospecting mode because this what i may use RR

  19. Hi Guys. i bought my exterra 705 this year sorely for prospecting gold nuggets in Zimbabwe. Can anyone help me with the best prospecting settings. I have ventured around where some other people previously found gold but found none so im begining to wonder if the exterra 705 was a good choice or maybe its the settings that i am not getting right. Thank you
  20. One year ago My husband and I decided to try our hand at metal detecting. We were total newbies with a steep learning curve. We purchased a used Xterra 705 for our starting machine. We downloaded and printed Randy Horton’s Xterra guide and have read it many times. It is a valuable tool for any Xterra owner. We spent the last year educating ourselves on the basics of metal detecting and getting to know our machine. We are feeling pretty confident about the Xterra except for one issue. I am looking for advice on any errors we are committing or if we possibly have something wrong with our detector. We have contacted minelab, but they never got back to us about our issue. So here goes... We are having an issue with TID numbers with in ground silver. We have several old silver coins we use for testing. They air test perfectly per published Xterra TID charts. When we place a coin (dime, quarter or half dollar, doesn’t matter) in a dug plug and cover, the coins register as ferrous (-8, -6 or -4) every time regardless of the coil we have installed. We have the stock 9” 7.5 kHz and the 6” 18.75 kHz Double D coils. We cannot get silver to register as anything but ferrous in the ground. The depth does not matter. We usually run in all metal or discrim 1 on occasion. We go through a set up each time we arrive at a place to detect that includes noise canceling, threshold, sensitivity and manual ground balance, although we usually detect in auto ground balance. We use 99 tones and silver in the ground has a ferrous “thunking” sound to go along with the TID numbers. We have reset to factory setting several times in the hope of solving this issue to no avail. We are out of ideas and possibly need service. Thank you for reading this far. Any advice or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
  21. After i finished work late because of very warm weather getting the crowds out and onto the beach i took my Nox and Terra to the beach . I was thinking work the tide out with the Nox then do the dry tops with the 705 which is better for that , is ! I got there at around 7.15pm , when i saw the beach it looked quite busy and the lower beach looked worth doing . I found within an hour that it wasn't so i got my Terra set up and as the crowds left as it started to get darker i started to find some fresh losses . Not as much as in the past but not bad and hopefully it will get better as the Summer comes. I found a wallet , it had no money in it and only had 2 i.d. cards for clubs and a National Health card and a Visa card ( i sense a cloning could happen!) , i called the numbers on the clubs but had to leave a message . I could not find a Copper to hand it in too so i took it back to my Bus Depot and put it into lost property and left a message saying that . Anyway before that and upto around 11pm i had found £37.12p and a flashy Lighter which i have refilled with Gas . I didn't see anyone else detecting so i had all the beach to myself . I would go to the beach on monday and the weather is going to be warm again but i have an early start on Tuesday . I have other things to do on Wednesday including going to Hospital with Mum to get her a CT scan for her suspected lung Cancer so i think maybe Thursday will be my next day out .

  23. I've never used an aftermarket coil on my 705. There are some out now in dual frequency which is interesting.Any one use aftermarket coils and any issues. Like or not?
