Manticore Second Day

Hi All,

Well first day with Amanda. Has been designated Amanda as Miners Den left me a message to text yesterday which read " Amanda Called ?  Its Arrived" I realized straight away it was Manticore. Its arrived.

Anyway, made me giggle 🙂

Was Quick and easy to set up, especially liked the camlocks on the extendible shaft. Would really like that set up on my 6000.

I was going to just do a short charge and go for a quickie but thought better of it and let her charge all night even though it was killing me.

I have only watched a couple of videos and just relied on the quick start pamphlet in the box. I have only used gold detectors before never one specifically for treasure etc. So getting to the beach and just using the quick start was interesting. The headsets connected a breeze first time so that was a blessing. I quiet like them very similar to the 6000. Im sure they wont suit all and on extremely windy days would require something over the top of them, i wear a legionaries hat which does the trick.

So how did the first day go for someone who has never used anything apart from gold detectors. (5000, 6000, 2300 and 1000) As i only had the quick start that is all i basically did Turn on, changed to beach, did a noise cancel and went detecting.

I used audible cues and when i heard something slowed down and had a look at the 2D, it was extremely easy to work out coins etc. going by the center high/low conductivity scale.

Australian 2 Dollar Coin.

Only showed one pip on the depth scale but was around 6" or 150mm Deep.

9 Carat Gold Ear ring. With stone inclusions.

Only showed one pip on depth and was only 3" or 75mm deep.

Australian 5 cent piece.

Was about 9" 200mm deep.

Just some photos of what i ended up with for the day.

$2.35 in cash.

One 9 carat gold ear ring with white stone inclusions. Another ear ring that may be gold but looks custom made with stainless ear ring post soldered to gold ?. A few bits and pieces and very little rubbish which i found interesting.

So i found gold on the first day so what can i say but over the moon. Now i have a manual to read i can try a few different things but honestly to take a machine out of the box switch it on and find things straight up. Dont fix things until they are broken 🙂 .

Its great you had a successful first outing. And it certainly seems the Manticore is very user-friendly.

I think you are now going to become totally hooked on this variation on gold detecting with your new detector.

  • The title was changed to Manticore Second Day

Second Day out with Amanda, romantic walk along the beach 🙂

So this morning went out and only thing i changed from factory for Beach was change the sensitivity to 25 from 20. After an hour i put it back to factory as it was just creating falsing in relation to the mineralization, started chasing ghosts. Put it back to 20 and was all fine again. On 20 i was finding signals over 12" 30 centimeters. I think that is just fine for me.

The Pre set Ferrous Limits for beach seem to work extremely well, occasionally id fine a tent peg or some pristine bottle caps but apart from that very little rubbish. I dont think i will adjust the ferrous limit for the bottle caps as i think it will create issues with low conductive gold.

Apart from that another great day, may be another gold in the ear ring but cant see a makers mark on this one.

If you look at the center conductivity bar, if this is gold altering the bottom preset ferrous range would hide it.
