It could be time to get in a wetsuit and go to the creeks.

This seems to be a better link to the story that can be read outside of the US

Sounds like a good time to hunt the creeks.

I have found that after any rainy season here in the mid-west I always have better luck running the sluices than in a dry time of the year. More gold flows from it's source to the creeks and rivers when there is heavy rains over a few days all the time.

That is why I always set up 2 sluices and run them side by side when working with the girlfriend. She always picks the one on the right to claim for herself and makes sure I put more pay dirt in that one.

Sniping is an easy and successful way to find gold, if you get into the right river/creek. Finding gold by eye is unique, there's something exciting about seeing every piece of gold you find. Going for extended periods without putting your snuffer bottle away is simply exhilarating.

NYT is quite a bother sometimes but there are some people that only believe it if it is in the Times.

Thanks for finding the link at a different publication.

The NYTimes article has lots of accompanying photos, unlike the copy of that article which Simon posted.  But I think NYTimes has a limit on the number of articles which can be read without a subscription, so if that kicks in....  FWIW I posted a link of the original article on another thread (the one that Gerry started and asked if the winter's heavy precip would lead to more available gold this year).

Yes, there have been updates to the story and I think we all know there will be more gold in the water but you have to be ready with the equipment.

As you know you can't use a dredge in California because it causes damage.  These storms caused a lot more than dredges but that can't be regulated like people.
