Geologyhound
Now why oh why couldn’t it have been American? The color gave me a start for a second. Definitely not the standard run-of-the-mill US clad corrosion… 5 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/25579-my-first-20-cent-piece/ Share on other sites

F350Platinum
Cool, Those coins can give you quite a start, Last one I dug was a token. ? Looked them up and they are made of an alloy called "Nordic Gold". https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordic_Gold Is the object marked "Sterling" actually sterling? 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/25579-my-first-20-cent-piece/#findComment-269864 Share on other sites

It appears to be a small emblem off of a Sterling truck. That company was in business from the late 90s to the early 2000s. FYI, the unidentifiable mass next to the rimfire casing appears to be an old bullet, or at least a lead mass. 2 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/25579-my-first-20-cent-piece/#findComment-269866 Share on other sites

Heh, I call that "ABC" lead, Already Been Chewed. ? I find a lot of it, mostly musket balls chewed by farm animals. Nordic Gold is a name that will probably go the way of German Silver, which is Nickel. There is no gold in Nordic Gold. There are fewer now than there used to be… 1 Link to comment https://www.detectorprospector.com/topic/25579-my-first-20-cent-piece/#findComment-270016 Share on other sites
