Got au We were below the old parrots ferry bridge before they filled it past the forks down were your asking there was gold in the old water ditches and up on the flats above knights ferry so it is possible miles Mitchel when a kid he and his buddy were walking the ditch above the gravel plant this is in the 30s they saw gold in the bottom of the ditch after a few days the guys at the plant saw the kids and investigated well that was the end of the kids working it who knows were the gold runs one clue big heavy rocks equal gold catching with them Bill I agree the fish used to go up the nozzle and show back up in the hole when moving boulders and the nozzle parked the whole bs of not dredging is a farce as far as I am concerned we had a dual engine 12 inch on the Klamath 2 Subaru motors we kept a 8 inch reducer in the whole for poss inspections boy it moved a lot of dirt always made fuel and food with the over burden But in the fall the river dropped and our tailings piles were massive and all the over 8 inch rocks on it all spooked us some how no one noticed and we never talked about it back then to no one ever miss those days I would be under straight 6 hrs like a mad man of course I had a rock tender under water and a man on the barge for the occasional back ups

To bad no dredging in cal with the sierra blaster and a pressure washer you could drill and break them up and get down there On the stanislaus river we had crevices that we could not break apart to get down into them 8/10 inches wide we would use the fire nozzle to blast them up you could see the nuggets spiral in the fast water never to be taken out we made all kinds funky tools to try and get them out we had to move on and move more ground to get good pay before winter hit I imagine there are some real slabs down in the Yuba amongst those boulders thanks for the wonderful stories of past when a miner in ca could use all his means to work his claim

Ceril sounds like your work and skill is paying off nice chunk you found there a real treat thanks for the great explanations on what you have learned many will find it helpfull for sharpening there skills Back when I used to go to some beat patches and only hit around the vegetation and move the larger rocks -
One of the ways I see people finding new areas is the old line men whom put up the power lines in the past that whilst at work would meet old prospectors in the middle of no were have herd a lot of stories of those guys going back after the retired and work the said areas If you know those guys or in your family they have good info that may pay off seen the finds pounds of gold they are all getting old and time is short good luck it’s a good way to get knowledge

It will be interesting to see what advances are made other old patches are pretty well known and the have been beat sure the 6000 will find some small ones but hard to make it pay for its self like others have in the past it’s all about putting in the miles swinging looking for new areas and patches that will pay off

On the Carson hill mine it is a rock mine know and they can not dig for gold in any way this was by the state a real shame as that place is one of the best places to keep finding gold my grandfather was a blaster and they hit a 4 inch by 6 foot seem of gold before the fire they had to cold chisel the gold as it was so thick no blasting would work now it is under water the James town mine that Christmas Day the metal detectors went of on the belts so many worker pocketed those chunks with the justification it was Christmas my grandfather had a jewlery store in San Andreas those stupid bandits were trying to sell it as Alaska gold we’ll smelting gives a signature of we’re it came from and seeing what it was there was no way and being a man of honor he told them to go else we’re if they would be aloud let reopen the southern strike south of the Harvard mine many would be employed for 25/30 years but there is to much private property and to many complaints just my grandfathers stories of that mine and the tarantula mine would make your head explode on the masses that were found and my grandfather taught me the lay out of rocks and faults and river placers to screw me up for ever searching for what might be there seen pounds of gold dredging and sheer gold in rock that gave me a monkey on my back for ever

Dale is still fair game chuckwallas we’re way south at least for now don’t see any changes the next 4 yrs to bad to loose that area but I have been down there and country lay out did not have much access and really rough country with limited access still a shame that said the dale is safe for a few hrs get it whilst you can going to have to work for it as the areas are best to sb/:;
