  1. Heard if you smear honey on your coil any unit turns into a bear detector!!! 😃
  2. Well my reference to conditions is about EMI. If I can run the Equinox at 21-22 with the 11 and 15" coils, WHY would I ever want to try a 6" coil on a salt beach? What if I told you for the block and a half that I have EMI issues on, the Deus2 is unaffected. {Which it is} What detector would you pick and how would this affect your test? This is why it was important to say what detector you were using. It also only confirms what you experience in one location. ONLY! Not general rules on how all SMF will work. As for the Tarsacci, it sounds like it might be the detector of choice for your location?
  3. So not being able to update my Deus2 yet, leaves me watching everyone else. Boy it sure got quiet after v1.1? Did it solve everything, or did everyone unhappy just sell their machines? 🤣
  4. I think you are wrong, and it is a very narrow focused, test you did. In four YEARS of running the Equinox on a daily basis the 11" and 15" were able to run 1-point of discrimination difference depending on the conditions that meant 21 on the 15" and 22 on the 11". also, if conditions were better, I could run 22 and 23 sensitivity. I am not missing ANYTHING at these levels! Your theory would be completely incorrect with a Tarsacci, as the 12" coil could run at the same sensitivity and that coil could clearly detect deeper than the 11X9. After this next season of beach hunting, I will be able to confirm the differences of the Deus2 with 9" and 13x11" Coils. I am betting my sensitivity levels will be close! I will say as a general rule a larger coil will not be able to run at the same sensitivity as a smaller coil. But small and large coils are also used for different reasons!
  5. Jeeze. This is WAY over the top. I do not understand this little bit of sweat issue for QUALITY headphones. Going to still stick with my Black widows 365.
  6. I suppose anything is possible. I have never met a salt beach where the machine is out of tracking. If one is hunting in and out of water contact, it would not matter the beach for sure.
  7. Is does not matter the machine. Equinox, Deus2 and Manticore. I run them ALL in automatic sensing Ground Balance at the beach.
  8. Why not run auto-sensing Ground Balance? It is recommended in a salt environment anyway.
  9. NONE>>>Period! He should be letting everyone know what a game changer the Manticore is on gold chains!
  10. I have said this before and have been chastised some. One better understand their Deus 2 and have the ability to dial this machine in for your location. Or you may severely be handicapping yourself! This, is why I am always burring a 14" gold ring when making changes at the beach. It makes the Deus2 a bit of a PIA!
  11. Audio response and sensitivity kind of go hand in hand. I hunt in audio 5 at the beach and like to control the rest of the noise with sensitivity. Did you try a few points lower of sensitivity at 5? Were you able to raise sensitivity when you ran at audio 4 in the update? This is where testing targets at fringe depths really helps in knowing your machines performance.
  12. Regardless of where you are it is YOUR responsibility to get the machine back to a repair center. When I am 2500 miles away from my home in Mexico and a detector breaks, I have two options. Air freight it out at considerable expense or suck it up and bring it back home to the U.S. with me to mail. Now you understand why I have back-up detectors!
  13. Anyone can set-up a "gotcha" moment. Your test is not realistic.
  14. Your ranges will expand in real conditions. The Deus throws numbers of tabs and gold all over the place. In my location because it is rough, I have lots of tabs missing some metal. These could come in low as 56. Also have had tabs go to 68. One is kidding themselves if they can block out any sort of tabs with the Deus 2 and not miss plenty of gold. With the Equinox tabs were a 13-14 for 97% of them, THAT I could live with. The Deus 2 can even come close to this comparison.
  15. Yes. So I had the lowest bin set to a lower kHz, I think 205kHz. [no pitch] I did not run -6.4 a lot. In testing it gave me the appearance that deep targets were muted more. [not crisp] It did seem to handle black sand conditions better and iron some. However, those iron targets that wanted to wrap-around still seemed to do that. Since I am using the 9" coil it made me concerned, I might miss some of those muted deep targets and just think they were blips or ticks. One has to watch their swing speed with the 9" coil. With the new update it would be worth it to investigate this style some more.
  16. To be honest. In .71 a disc. of -6.4 really made iron quiet on the beach too.
  17. You could always turn the iron volume up some from the factory setting. Myself, I would rather never hear iron again. If I want to hear something, turning the sensitivity up to hear slight falsing would suit me.
  18. The only way I can connect my headphones is in bone phone mode. Volume at 3. Anything else would blow my ears off. My tones are all different by what I select. But I will compare with the speaker when I get back on the machine.
