  1. I put my 6" coil on immediately after I got it and loved how light weight it was (ordered it with the detector). I've used the 11" twice. Once at the beach in SoCal and then again yesterday. I noticed that the 6" is a bit noisier than the 11. Any thoughts! BTW, at a sensitivity of 20, it was finding pennies and dimes at 5" - 6" šŸ˜±
  2. I have bad shoulders and find the 11ā€ coil to be a bit cumbersome to swing. While the 6ā€ is nice and light, you canā€™t get much ground coverage per swing. Anybody come out with a 10ā€ solid Elliptical yet? Thanks! Walt ps: I know it only weighs something like 2.5 lbs. with the stock coil but you can sure tell the difference!
  3. I donā€™t really like the smooth handle on my Equinox so I wanted to add something to give it a little more cushion and grip. I first thought of handle bar tape like they used on ten speed racer bikes back in the day but nobody seems to carry it, except maybe a bike shop. Besides, I thought it might have been too thick. I settled on cloth Athletic Tape that I found at Walmart. Itā€™s super thin, 1.5ā€ wide, has a sticky back and only cost $2.97. If it gets torn or dirty, I can just change it like a bandage. I figure I can get about 15 applications out of the 30ā€™ roll!
  4. The stock Vaquero coil is a 9x8 Concentric. Do you not have that one? Thanks! Walt
  5. I wanted a second opinion from White's so I went straight to the top! This was his reply: "Dear Walt Evens Whiteā€™s TDI SL is designed to operate on 12 volts. All Pulse Induction models show some increased performance with added voltage. However, the price is lowered longevity of the electronic circuit, and voltages over 14.8 Volts can immediately damage the electronics. Whiteā€™s doesnā€™t recommend overpowering the TDI SL electronics. Sincerely Steve Howard Whiteā€™s USA" Thanks! Walt
  6. I know that phrunt. šŸ˜› Yes, they're still providing the 12 volt rechargeable and 8-cell flat pack. I'm guessing because they also use them in other machines, they don't want to up the voltage for fear of someone slipping it in to a GMT, Spectra, MXT, etc. I found some rechargeable Lithium Ion AAs in 3.7 volts but I doubt if it could handle 29.6. Too bad they don't make any (AA) in 2-volt. Thanks! Walt
  7. Steve, I should have posed my question a little more clearer. You're correct. I was wondering why 15kHz wasn't included as one of the Multi-Frequencies in the Gold Prospecting modes. I'm also glad that I'm not the only one it takes a while for the light bulb to go on. LOL Thanks! Walt
  8. I forgot to ask whether it had a skid plate, Jim. Thanks for getting it right out! Hope to talk to you soon. It's been a while. Walt
  9. Thanks for the offer Chuck but I went ahead and bought the new one from Jim. Walt
  10. Other than buying or staking a claim, how does one gain access to this area? Thanks! Walt
  11. I don't know about other states but Oregon requires a Quit Claim deed for a Mining Claim and not for general Real Estate. I bought mine at a Stationary store. Thanks! Walt
  12. I was always told that this is a "Civil Matter". The only way I can get the Sherriff out to my claim is if there is vandalism or squatters over the 14 day limit. Thanks! Walt
  13. I reached out to Jimmy through his website for Discovery Tours. http://discoverytours.us/ Here was his response: Hi Walter, We are still doing our Discovery Tours to England. In fact this was our 29th consecutive Year .I have personally missed participating in the tours for the past 4 years for "health issues" ....I turned 89 years old this year, but I hope to make at least one more trip if I can get a better handle on health. Meanwhile, I do all the paperwork from here. Get the participants, collect the funds, keep all informed of details and handle the return of the finds to the participants when I get them back from David and Trish in UK. So the only difference is that I don't get to participate in England. I hope to make one more trip at some point when health improves....but age is not on my side, sorry to say. Our website is still active and David and Trish keep it up to date with pics and finds and info, as always. If you are interested in a future trip.........let me know and I will keep you on my mailing list. Best regards, Jimmy Thanks! Walt
  14. Chuck, it's an 8 x 12. I did some air tests with some nuggets. I know some folks don't care for them, air tests not nuggets. LOL There was a little more depth over my MJ Jimmy Coil but not much. I'll post the results as soon as I get them typed out. Thanks! Walt
  15. 16. Just got this in my email inbox: Dear Walt Whiteā€™s version is a two coil (Duel Field) design. Miner John used one coil, and folded it to make two loops, thus folded coil design. We found better results overall with the two coil configuration, thus, did not use Miner Johns folded one coil design. Yes, some differences are expected. Sincerely Steve Howard Whiteā€™s USA
  17. This has probably been answered before Steve but what makes it superior to the DF? Thanks! Walt
  18. I'd be interested in finding out whether he's still doing his British Isles trips. Thanks! Walt
  19. I just ran a test with various pin pointers and I cannot get it to react the same as my Miner John Jimmy coil. The winding seems to be in the center rather than the edge. And your not asking alot, Chuck. Like my mentor Jim Straight, I like to see how things work! Anyone have a diagram of John's coil for reference? Thanks! Walt
  20. Funny you should say that Chuck. I have a buddy who hunted with a camo rifle. He leaned it against a stump, walked away for a minute and couldn't find it for a while. That's why mine is tan! I live in the Pacific Northwest. Sometimes I'll leave my detector and walk back to my vehicle. I don't want to lose it in the woods.
  21. Ridge Runner, I will do that but was told that it was an exact copy of John's coil because there was mo patent on it. I haven't gotten around to a Test Garden yet. However, I did do an Air Test between a 10" Elliptical folded "Jimmy" coil made by Miner John, the new High Q coil and a Coiltek Goldstalker coil using various sized nuggets. I should have used some coin sized targets as well. I guess it's time for another experiment. I had that same problem with a customers MXT. I asked Jimmy how many times did we need to send it in before we gave him a new one. He replied "I'll send one out today with a label to send the other one back to me". He was definitely big on Customer Service. I heard a completely different story as to why they closed their doors.
