  1. Greetings! I haven't been on here for a while. I usually spend the cold rainy months in Oregon shooting my Muzzleloaders. I talked to Garret after the rerelease. They did it because they didn't have a higher-frequency Gold Detector for the African Market. I reached out to my distributor about the same time, and they weren't selling that many of them. I have three, the 10" & 4"x6" D/D, and the 6" Concentric, which is my favorite.
  2. Doc, I don't suppose you'll be making any for the Garrett Goldmaster 24K. I'd be interested in this. Let us know when they're available! Thanks! Walt
  3. True that! I've heard from old timers using manual Ground Balance talking about "tuning by the inch". I just wanted some basic settings I could improve on if needed. Thanks again!
  4. Thanks! I know about not asking for settings when you're in hunting in different areas. But because you were near Nome, I thought the ground might be similar.
  5. Already in my suitcase, Gary. Ear plugs are a must while traveling with others! Thanks!
  6. Thanks for the link, Steve, and the battery info! I was hoping that you might weigh in on this. Looks like I'll be taking the Axiom. The compact backpack will allow me to carry it on the plane.
  7. I’ve booked a trip for a week in July at AK/AU Gold Camp in Nome. They do rent Metal detectors and they’re part of the package. Other than the Gold Monster 1000 and Nox 800, I’m not too familiar with the other Minelab products they might have available. I was thinking about taking my Garrett Axiom. I have two concerns. First, what’s the best way to get it there? I’ve heard that Lithium batteries should not ride in an unpressurized area like a cargo hold. I suppose I could carry it on in the convenient backpack everything fits in. Second, how will it handle the Alaskan ground? I’ve heard that VLF machines work better there. Thanks in advance!
  8. I actually had a friend of mine sell his Nox800 and buy a Legend for just that reason. He said extra coils were too expensive. He kept his CTX3030, though. Garrett's aren't too bad either!
  9. Let me know if I need to move this to the classified section, Steve. I just received an email from my Distributor. The LG24 (9.5" x 5") will have a Minimum advertised (MAP) price of $126.62 US. The LG30 (12" x 9") will have a MAP of $152.15 US. Thanks!
  10. I forgot about that. Of course, it would give GB numbers while Ground Balancing. What I was actually wondering is whether it had the ability to read the ground and give a constant readout to facilitate searching for Black Sand Concentrations for Prospecting and mining. Thanks!
  11. I've looked through the manual and did a few searches here but came up blank. Does the 800 have a Ground Phase Readout? Thanks!
  12. It makes me want to sell more to support them. My main VLFs next year will be the Legend, Gold Kruzer, and Gold Finder 2000!
  13. You're good to go on my side as well, Jeff. I really like reading your posts. They're usually spot-on and full of informative content. I was really trying to find a tactful way of saying what I said about Nokta without stepping on toes, but couldn't come up with anything. They both are so similar to Minelab's offerings in looks, operation, and features. On the other hand, I love the competition. We, the end users, are the winners.
  14. Garrett jumped on this and fixed it right away. I got the impression from talking to Rusty that he wished I hadn't posted it here, but I wanted folks to realize there may be a problem when trying to charge their unit.
  15. I love Nokta! I really do. So, I hate saying this but the GF2000 and Legend appear to be Minelab "knockoffs".
  16. Thank you but yes there is. While working at a hardware store in my late teens, a contractor handed me a door hinge and told me to ask my boss if was right or left-handed. You should have seen the look on his face!
  17. American Detector Distributors is the only Distributor in the US. That's why Outdoor Outfitters was not named.
  18. I'm not a Minelab dealer anymore due to misinformation from my previous Distributor. Now they want me to do another buy-in of several thousand dollars. If I could just pick up where I left off, I might consider it. In the past, Minelab, Garrett, and Fisher all used distributors AND sold to dealers directly. When Fisher started competing with their dealers on Amazon, the two US Distributors stopped carrying their products, so those are factory direct to dealers now. As far as suing the dealers, if they used the phrase, "et, al", in their legal documents, that would include dealers also.
  19. I was at the Portland, Oregon Gold Show a few years back and a guy was looking for a second Original Gold Bug for his wife. I told him about the new Digital model. He didn’t want that. His buddy had one. He then pulled out a large piece of Magnetite with gold attached. He said his buddy went over it and because it registered as iron on the screen, he passed on by. This fellow came behind him and dug the target. He told me he didn’t want “no screen”! Too bad I didn’t keep his info. I told him Original Bugs were scarce and wished him luck.
  20. While I appreciate any organization that supports Mining Rights, I put my money ($50) into Public Lands for the People. They've been legally dredging in California for two years under the designation of Stream Reclamation. We are currently working on bringing it to Oregon. I am one of the Plaintiffs in the Bohmker vs State of Oregon case. Suing the Government does not work!
  21. All I'm going to say about this is, Steve hit the nail on the head with his first response!
  22. I remember Whites having to pay Minelab a royalty for the Dual Frequency XLT (DFX). I've also heard that all you have to do is change something by 10% to get around the Patent laws. I find it interesting that it only lists one American Distributor when there are two Major Players. The other is Outdoor Outfitters. Maybe they don't sell the Nokta brand.
  23. I just order it! I love Andy's writing style. Simple and easy to understand. I loved reading his Field Tests in Lost Treasure Magazine!
