Talking shovels, any of you Minelab guys ever seen a shovel like this?? 28 inches long, just a baby round pointed shovel. Was given to me by a guy that had several Minelab detectors.

I agree, subbie is good for testing and working where the gold is coarse. My 4" subbie likes to blast out flat flakes 1/16 to 1/8, trust my other 4" much more. A couple things I do is to slow the pump a bit when I see color on bedrock, and empty the box into a bucket about every half hour assuming that helps. Once running the subbie I apparently sucked up many small flakes without knowing it and when I went to empty the tray I saw a lot of gold in the end of the box and the normal coarse gold in the front. That bothered me so I grabbed a pan, scooped up some tailings and recovered 30 or so flakes in a single pan. I backed up and ran probably no more then a yard of my tailings through the same dredge and found almost an ounce. What I like my subbie to look like o

Steve, this did come from Cabela's. 9 footer was $350 and if I remember right does have an inner bladder. Here is another photo where you detected numerous nuggets on bedrock. It is now all covered with willows and weeds. Tom, very easy, used the frame that came with the boat with very few changes. Pretty tough material, think it will last quite well. Actually left it over winter with a tarp over and it was fine when I checked Friday.

How to make a copper nugget. First get a piece of copper in the host rock (like my earlier post) and smash it with a hammer to remove most of the matrix. Doesn't matter if you hit the copper since it is soft like gold. Next tumble it with more pieces or other rocks until it looks the way you want. Here are a couple I did a few years ago, Bob

Copper ore from the Wrangell's. Covellite (blue) chalcocite(gray) and calcite. Very high % copper

I have found copper in the Sheep Mountain area and of coarse the Wrangell's. Can't find the photo I wanted but here is a piece from the Wrangell's. Also have dredged a few small pieces from Alfred Creek. Also photo of copper in matrix from Sheep Mt.

I use game cameras, get ones with black flash. You need more then one in case someone happens to see one. Camera signs, I don't like the idea. That will make the intruders look around find them

Be gentle, the aluminum is not very thick

Great looking builds. The frame on the 6" looks like you may be adding another float on each side. Only comments I have on the 4" would be that you may not want that piece of punch plate in there. The overall width looks good. I widened mine some to make it more stable. Those little dredges are quite wild in rough water. Good luck with them
