  1. No Worries there....All that we need here is a little rain and frost to loosen up the ground and kill off the bumper crop of weeds and grasses. Please do send me your program 350 I am always open to learning and trying new and innovative things thanks in advance!
  2. And yet another one bites the dust! I will be dropping the hammer Monday morning. Thanks for helping me make up my mind XP 13X11 Platinum!😂
  3. I'm very fond of the buckle as well 350.Back when I found it I took it to work with me and showed it off. I worked for the Mendocino County public works road maitnance crew and there were still a lot of world war 2 vets around in those days and it caused a lot of commotion.
  4. Most of the items shown came from older home yards and a site that was used for many years for picnics and weddings and other celebrations mostly by the old Italian families that lived and worked in the Hop fields and early zinfandel vineyards and so forth. The Army boxing belt buckle and the elks tooth pendant were found by me in a local park in the small town where I grew up around 1975ish. 1922 Durant Radiator Emblem. s St.Christopher With Sportsman's Theme. 5. Dang 350 although I doubt that you are an official frontman/broker for XP but you're turning out to be their best promoter and salesman for the 13 coil. Depending on how well I do at this weekends bottle show I will be ordering one and possibly one of Steves shaft systems for the upcoming fall and winter relic season.Hopefully XP is watching and will compensate you with a free demo small coil soon?
  6. So here's the deal I wanted to post this photo and story one year ago when this topic started but was unable to locate the picture.Anyway it turned up the other night hidden away in one of my antique bottle books. Let me begin by saying that the nugget the lovely lady in the photo is proudly displaying wasn't found by me but by her friend and previous partner over in Downieville Ca back in the 1980's.I met Kathy at the Hopland Brewery in around 86 or 87 where she tended bar and waited on tables and so forth. She and I got acquainted a little and she was aware of the fact that I was an avid local treasure hunter and collector and she for some reason wanted me to have the photo and related the story about how her friend had discovered it.The way I remember it although I was three sheets to the wind from the six or eight pints of Blue Herron Ale and a couple of fat doobies consumed out in the beer garden is that the guy was snorkeling in the creek in downtown Downieville looking for antique bottles, relics and most likely nuggets and spotted it lying at the bottom of a pool. My guess is that one of you local boys that were living and prospecting in or around that area and beyond during that period of time know the person that found it and the rest of the story.I sadly lost track of Kathy as I was a proffessional Steelhead bum in those days and would spend my winters up north in Brookings Oregon and when I returned one spring she had moved on. So if this gets around to you Kathy I hope that you are healthy and happy and I'm sorry that I never had a chance to say goodbye.
  7. The new stealthier relic hunters version looks very intriguing and a must have.Oh boy a new toy!
  8. So I have had the 800 since it's release and I made some very good finds with it although I never really clicked with it. As a matter of fact I have rarely used it since getting the original deus a few months after buying the Nox. One thing that I would recommend to you is that if you are using the stock eleven inch coil invest in the smaller six inch until you proficient with your machine. That made a huge diffirence for me as it quieted down the detector and made separation and pinpointing a breeze in the trashy iron laden sites that I hunt. The 800 is a great machine however a little too chatty at times in my opinion just put in your time and the good finds will follow.
  9. It's comforting to know that there are still people out there in the hobby that have that level of respect and integrity.
  10. Two of my very favorite things to dig.Local tokens and a significant piece of early iron.Nice photos and good writing as well.
  11. For everyday relic hunting and detecting my preference is KUIU hunting pants.Pricey yes but they are stretchy lightweight and virtually indestructible and with very capable built in kneepads.I have two pairs the Pro pant for the hot weather months and Talus hybrid for the wet and cold weather season.Have been abusing both pairs for more than four years now with zero issues. ut
  12. Outstanding, the button is superb! And great job on the cleaning.
  13. That would be the most logical assumption. However there are many tokens out there that are very similar in their design.
  14. Hey CPT good report and nice hunt with some very interesting and worthwhile finds.Heres what your little Bank or what I call a dime safe looks like when intact.
  15. Haven't heard from you in a coons age Bassman unless I missed it? Anyhow it's good to know that you are still on the right side of the dirt.
  16. Welcome to the forum Gary. From Mendocino County, Nor Cal.And Brookings Oregon on occasion. This is not the Classifieds so if I'm out of line here Steve feel free to delete. Wanted. DR.FURBER'S / CORDIAL, OF MOUTAIN BALM / YREKA CAL. circa 1870. 17. Excellent site and hunt there CPT! Great photos as usual and thanks for showing all of the iron and the shards of glass and porcelain. That provides a level of authenticity as to what is generally found at such digs and how much work that is involved. As for the souvenir heart pendant from the Crystal Palace that was in business for less than six months? Yeah I would have to agree that it would qualify as super rare and is a killer piece.
