  1. https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Simultaneously/ (From the ad:) APTx LL, 10 hour run-time. Looks like you could pair 2 of these together for a build-your-own (Garrett) Z-link. What am I missing?
  2. These look like just the ticket for an Equinox.... https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aria-waterproof-earbuds-bluetooth-5-32h-battery-iphone-headphones#/ Designed by audio's finest award-winning engineers, the xFyro ARIA waterproof wireless headphones brings next-generation technology to today's active listener. ● IP67 Certified Waterproof & Dustproof ● Bluetooth 5.0 - 2.5x more reliable & 10x data transfer for unparalleled sound detail & accuracy ● 32 hours of playtime ● Auto-pair - never worry about setup or pairing modes again ● Compatible with all iOS, Android Phones, Tablets, Watches & more ● Proprietary noise-cancelling sound seal tech
  3. 1st of all I have tried the factory reset and that hasn't helped. The headphones are fully charged. When I try to turn them on sometimes I get a continuous flashing red light. Now when I am trying it I am getting red and blue lights flashing simultaneously. I get no sound from them except when I turn them off I hear them shut down.. Not sure what to do I sure hate to send them back to Minelab
  4. I have an older set of wired Bose QuietComfort 15 noise-canceling travel headphones and stumbled onto a clever, low profile Bluetooth upgrade for them. I just bought the BTunes Wireless Bluetooth Adapter on Amazon for $59 a couple weeks ago. They sound GREAT, have a better than the advertised battery life of 10+ hours (I'm on 12 hours now), easy to charge and best of all they sync up with my Minelab Equinox 800 in AptX low latency mode!!! I got the Bluetooth upgrade specifically for air travel but I figured some of you may want to know about this. Highly recommended! https://thebtunes.com/
  5. Page 48 of Equinox 600 / 800 manual I have highlighted. I am not sure what they are saying here? Tying to absorb all these settings and still not there yet.
  6. Contemplating getting the Garrett Zlink module, since it has the same latency as the WM module. Anyone using it? If so so, any compatibility issues? TIA
  7. As some of you may know I am almost completely deaf and cannot manage without my hearing aids and a while back I bought a couple of Phonak FM Receiver shoes for use with my Phonak Hearing Aids and I later bought a Phonak Roger FM wireless transmitter so as to hear music and TV wireless direct to my hearing aids. Today I took it into my head to try connecting my Minelab Equinox WM08 wireless unit with my Phonak Roger FM transmitter and I then paired the WM08 unit with my Equinox then paired the Phonak Wireless transmitter with my Phonak Hearing Aids and low and behold the Equinox signals came belting through spot on and loads of volume, see photographs below.
  8. Since there seems to be a few questions about these waterproof Minelab phones and since I stepped up to get a pair so I can snorkel, I'd like to tell about my experiences with them and what I've had to do to make them workable in normal hunting conditions. First off, I've used underwater detectors such as Aquasound, CZ-21, Sand Shark, ATX, Excal, CTX and now the Equinox. Out of that list, only the CTX and Equinox gave me problems underwater.....due to the inadequate headphones Minelab sells for underwater use. For the CTX I used yellows, 2 different GG Amphibians a set of OBN's audiosear headsets and a similar pair of HR Headphones. Hands down the audiosear phones work best on Minelabs but sadly will eventually die from water exposure over time..... The GG ampbians worked good but I had problems with the volume adjust knob corroding on one pair and a piezo assembly that leaked and corroded on the other.....both were reworked with Audiosear speakers. The Minelab yellows don't use an adequately sized Piezo to give the needed volume and the plastic on the Koss earpieces is thin and allows to much ambient noise into the ear. On a windy day the surf and the wind will keep you from hearing your machine. I don't have the best hearing BUT I don't need hearing aids. The Aquasound, CZ-21, Sand Shark, ATX, Excal could blow your ears off with stock headphones (Garrett blues for the ATX). So, to help the inadequate yellow Minelabs, I took them apart and used flowable Silicon windshield sealant to coat the inside of the yellow earcups for ambient noise sound deadening, also I taped over the vent and drain holes (to be removed when snorkeling). In addition I then installed gel earpads on the phones. Doing all this has actually made the phones usable on a windy day and I'm sure will help underwater some too. It is sad that Minelab has continued to use the same phones that were used on the Excal II. I am not an engineer but I'm willing to bet that the audio driver is more robust on the Excal II than on both the CTX and Equinox.....why not put out something that will work without using MAX volume on the machine? Cliff
  9. I had talked with Detector Pro on the issue of headphones for the Gold Monster 1000 and I said they would do well on sales if someone would come out with a good after market headphones. Well they thought about it and called me back informing me that they are answering the call to produce a high quality headphones for the Monster that will eliminate the external speaker sound from coming thru. These headphones are the same as the Gray Ghost headphones but were made specifically for the Gold Monster. They are the Gold Series and there will be a special headphones coming out for the Exuinox as well. The cord is a pigtail style with an 1/8" jack that shuts off the external speaker. The sound is sharp and crisp with no distortion. The pigtail cord is 6" longer than the Gray Ghost headphones and I assure you there will be no more kneeling on the cord as we all have had to deal with until we just use the Monster without headphones. I feel these headphones are very comfortable and block out external noises very well and they have a volume control on the side as well. I have the proto type as I have been asked to field test these wonderful headphones by DetectorPro.I will let everyone know when they will be available for purchase.
  10. Steve (and everyone), I might have missed it, but are you mainly hunting in 50 tones then? Thanks...
  11. I'm a former XP Deus user and have been searching around for aptX LL headphones similar to my old Deus WS4 wireless backphones so that I can wear sunhats. I purchased the 66 AUDIO BTS Pro's last week and was pretty disappointed after syncing them up to the Equinox 800 and no aptX LL!!! I contacted their tech support and didn't hear anything for a couple of days. I boxed them up to return to Amazon and just as I was heading out the door to the UPS Store I received an email from them saying "We will send over a manual firmware update in 1-2 days to resolve the aptX-LL issue." Two days later (today) I got the firmware update. The update went smoothly on my PC, I synced up to the Equinox 800 and aptX LL now works GREAT!!! I tested them out around my garden and they're awesome. If anyone needs the firmware update file without having to wait four days send me a PM. These headphones sound great, loud, are comfortable and have some pretty impressive specs with a 40 hour battery and 100 foot range. https://www.66audio.com/bts-pro https://www.amazon.com/66-AUDIO-Wireless-Bluetooth-Headphones/dp/B01M8M4R7K
  12. Yesterday, I used my APTX LL headphones exclusively for the first time during a 90 minute hunt with my 600. + sign indicating paired LL was active and all working well. What I found though was that the Low Latency lag of 40ms is still quite noticeable, and slows down recovery of finds. Maybe I'm oversensitive to lag, but there is clearly a difference between wired direct (or speaker), and APTX LL. Having to backtrack for a signal that was just heard, and finding that exact spot again is a little frustrating when I'm used to instantly seeing the position of the coil when hearing the detector signal on wired HP's or on speaker. Waggling is also slightly different. The hands-free, wire-free benefit is certainly good and convenient, but for me, it just didn't feel right at 40ms lag. At this point, I will probably NOT use LL headphones except when it is absolutely necessary for whatever reason. I think that the WM08 that will come with my 800 will likely be a much better solution, with a 17ms Lag vs 40ms with LL. Certainly, the LL's are a big step beyond 100ms BlueTooth, but still not "just right". As for the LL Headphones...I own the ArchMage SoundClean9's ($45 at Amazon), and they are really nice, comfortable, and sound great. They have a 50 hour operational capacity following a full 4-hour charge. They fit my big head, even over a Minelab baseball cap. There are a lot of "Pro's" about these headphones, but also a few cons that will be found in other headphones as well. Hunting in high temperature, high humidity areas like Florida, I am concerned about the longevity and durability of the ear cushions as they are saturated by salty sweat while hunting in the field. I think the only real solution is pure rubber cushions, which would obviously not be as comfortable. Not sure if any manufacturer has a real solution for this problem. The ArchMage headphones controls are well located, and they work well, but are not raised and palpable without knowing exactly where they are while wearing the headphones. Not that big a deal, but raised buttons would have been a better design. I do really like the headphones, and may use them wired in cooler conditions when warranted, without APTX...just direct. So...this is all just my own $.02. Others may differ...but most importantly, this is my 200th post on this forum, and now I'm SILVER!!! ?
  13. Has anyone tried the Ausdom AH3 Apt-x low latency head phones. I just got them for my Equinox 600 and they paired right up with low latency. I then took them to a fairground that I have partially searched. My coin count was way down while using them. I will check them in my coin garden tomorrow. Just wondering if anyone else has tried them and their opinion. Malcolm
  14. Finally, they have arrived, now I can put the snorkel back on..... Extra long cable, 41" of straight cable from connector allowing you to Velcro under the arm and still have plenty of cable to the headphones. No cable having to dangle in front of your face! Loudness is good, preliminary garage tests show constant mid 70's decibels on a target with full volume on the machine settings. Fit is typical Koss yellows and can be improved with gel ear pads which will be on order shortly. Cliff
  15. On one of the earlier posts someone mentioned that they were using The Sennheiser CX 6.00BT wireless APTX Low Latency in ear headset (Ear Buds) and he said that they were excellent with the Equinox. I followed his advice and bought a set and I am now waiting for delivery of them, does any one use this type of APTX Low Latency Ear Buds and if so how are you finding them. I am almost completely deaf and have to use my hearing aids under the cupped headphones and as a result my ears tend to become sweated up and I am not sure if all of this dampness will be detrimental to my hearing aids and it is now becoming really hot here in the UK so went with the idea of using the Sennheiser CX 6.00 BT wireless Low Latency ear bud phones, I have also bought the Avantree Audition Pro Aptx Low Latencey wireless headphones and I have used them several times over the past 4 weeks and I am finding them much lighter and with better ear scope to allow me to keep my hearing aids in and with plenty of free space to prevent my hearing aids squealing and whistling, my Minelab ML80 wireless headphones do not have the same loose cup freedom fitting and tend to squeeze on my hearing aids and set them off whistling which is most annoying. Any feedback will be appreciated. Good Hunting Randy Dee
  16. I have a set of Apple AirPods that I can’t get to pair to the Equinox. Has anyone been able to try this successfully?
  17. Really curious to know how these Hungarian waterproof headphones are going for underwater use so far because a couple people do have them. loud underwater? comfortable? Other notes? I’m just so keen to hunt in the water and still no proper release date for the minelab phones! thank you ?
  18. So after my hassle with the MPOW's, and the continuing effort to get a full refund for the advertised Low Latency, but actually non-LL headphones, I went online and started researching. I was already aware of the BT80's, Tronds, and other APTX LL headphones, but I dug deeper. What I found was the ArchMage SoundClean-09 headphones that were a lot cheaper than the others, and had excellent reviews. I was certainly skeptical, but figured "what the hell", and ordered the readily available headphones from Amazon for $45.00 shipped (Prime). They arrived today, and I was fully expecting a repeat of the MPOWS as far as pairing was concerned. My worries were unfounded! The SoundCleans paired quickly with my 600 and with the LL "+" symbol. Awesome start! Ran the detector over some coins and the lag was virtually non-existent. Sound was very clean and precise. Music sounds great too! Microphone built in, with cell capabilities, as well as the song manipulation features of more expensive units. Avalable in black or mint green. The controls are not on par with the MPOWS, or others that have very palpable buttons, and there is no cover on the USB charging port, but for $20+ dollars less than competing headphones, I'm ecstatic. The headphones are close, but not quite full ear covering, and are extremely comfortable and without hot spots that would cause issues after a few hours. Even better is the TRUE almost 50 hours of operation after a full charge. (4 hours from fully discharged). The instructions are clear, and the company is apparently very Customer Service oriented. The warranty includes a "no questions asked" money-back return guarantee and a 12-month extended warranty. True APTX LL capability for a great price! Includes a nice carrying case that fits the rotating earpieces well to fit. Wired connection and charging cable included, along with some marketing incentives. The head band is very comfortable and adjustable for big heads...like mine! Lots of very positive reviews on Amazon and elsewhere, as well as a number of YouTube videos reviewing the phones! I have found MY wireless solution to the APTX LL dilemna for the 600! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0774YGR61/ref=twister_B07CH9B339?_encoding=UTF8&th=1 Cheers, Frank
  19. My headphones arrived, and I fully charged them. Followed the directions for pairing with the 600. It pairs, but only to the basic Bluetooth symbol. I cannot pair to the Low Latency + symbol, and it clearly has some very discernable latency. I have no idea how to figure out whether it's the headphones or the 600 which is not pairing to full APTX LL. I need help! Any ideas? I tried Factory Reset on the 600 three times, and reset the pairing function on the headphones a number of times. No joy.
  20. I think it would be a good idea to have a thread just for after maket Bluetooth headphones for the Equinox as there must be many many different ones out there if people could give their views on what they have bought and what improvement they have over the ML80's. I have bought these https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01A0EAYDI/ref=pe_3187911_189395841_TE_dp_1 advantage over ML80's much better low tones (no boom sound) better overall tones (tighter) they are super comfortable and have much larger ear muffs the head band fit is great if you have a larger head they are slightly lower in volume but not by much than the ML80's.
  21. I got an update today from the USPS, stating that the MPOW APTX LL over-ear headphones I ordered from AliExpress have finally arrived in the USA after two weeks from China. I should have them by Tuesday or Wednesday and will post a review here once I have a chance to test them on my EQ600. The company's other headphones have received very positive reviews on a number of sites, so I expect that the new phones will also meet the high expectations. They were about $53.00 Shipped. 22. I made a waterproof connector using the cover plug for the WM - 8 module... using my Dremel I carefully cut a hole in the top and had to slightly widen the two ribs that come down inside the plug... becareful not to mar the edge of the plug where it seats against the O-ring ( red arrow) clean it all up with acetone or denatured alcohol... then use 3M 4000 sealant it's good for plastic! You can find it in any Marine store! I first screwed the plug in to the head of the machine then I coated the plastic of the 1/8 in headphone jack and inserted that through the hole I made making sure it plugs all the way into the machine if you're not sure turn it on and check! I then added the glob to the end to make sure it's sealed! Remember everybody you're at your own risk when you make anything for your machine! I have about ten hours on it!
  23. In a conversation with CDV he told me that a friend could use wired headphones and the factory supplied wireless headphones without one turning off the other. So I decided to try this with the WM08 instead with my son this afternoon to try and coach him as he was swinging! It worked GREAT. He did need some relief as the grip was a bit, as he put it "weird", and I swung for a while. Logan's second target was his first IHC! It was a fun afternoon and we both took some keepers home from a 1909 home with a tiny front yard. The owners were awesome and really into what I was doing. I tried to give him some of the stuff that he really seemed jazzed about, but he refused to take it. He used to be a troop leader and I was sure he was going to take the vintage cub scout button (keep finding cool buttons at 8). I am starting to feel very confident in how I have my machine setup for my hunts. Cool stuff is found all over the VID and I am just digging anything that has some depth (Still have a bone to pick with the loss of adjustable volume gain and inaccurate meter) AND it locks in hard. Logan really took to the 50 tones quick, quicker than I did, but is having a hard time visualizing where the target is under the coil. I know it will come with time and look forward to more of this great weather we had today in North East Ohio. Thanks for looking and here are some pictures! If you want to know what the VID was for any of this just ask. The land marker was something that the owner was excited to share and I thought it was a cool piece of Americana. When doing marker surveying of the Ravenna arsenal he came across one marker that had been broken and displaced when a channel was dug and he got permission to take it. Way cool! Logan's First IHC
  24. Took a chance and bought these waterproof Equinox headphones off EEEE Bay for a fast approaching Caribbean shallow water hunt. They're from Hungary! I even wondered if I would get them in time as the estimated shipping delivery date was more than 2 weeks! All the ML retailers I contacted keep telling me 4 weeks for ML waterproof phones and it seems it was 4 weeks 4 weeks ago. I'm also told the GG phones will be out soon too. But I needed wp phones for my trip now and to my surprise they were delivered in 2 days! Amazing and I will test them later. At least I can now take an Equinox on my trip!
  25. With the purchase of my new Minelab Equinox 600 (waiting for my 800 on backorder) I set out to find some needed but harder to find accessories...Headphones for the Water was my priority this time! In this YouTube video I cover a gentleman (Tony) who is the Only United States based modifier and seller of Waterproof headphone connectors for the Minelab Equinox 600 / 800 control box and show you what he modified for me. With little to no options out there for Waterproof headphones for the Minelab Equinox series metal detectors I was extremely excited to find Tony on a Forum. Long story short I sent him a pair of Grey Ghost headphones and he modified them with his custom Waterproof connection, so now I am ready to take my Equinox wading/submerge once the weather here in Michigan warms up just a bit The connector looks like it was professionally manufactured, just like Minelab themselves made these headphones. If you are searching for waterproof headphone options for your new Equinox then watch this video. I am in NO way Affiliated with the Seller of this product, I simply like to pass information along when I find products that will help others in this great hobby. Take Care and HH.
