Steve Herschbach
I agree Joe and I'm not vouching for any of them except the EBL ones I have. I deleted that second link. Supposedly none of the big name guys are making 26650 batteries anymore is the main problem. Bill, I guess the main thing is these things are dirt cheap, so not like we can get burned too bad. Only need to come up with four good ones. I ordered the rubber boots I linked to above from Amazon. They are not as thick walled as I hoped and do not add much strength, but at least a little protection is better than none. I'm giving this a go tomorrow and will report back. 2
PimentoUK
@ Cobill: I think you've made an error in purchasing those '8000 mAh' cells. The highest capacity I've found available from a known/reliable/trusted brand is 5500 mAh. Those cells in your link are very likely to disappoint, and may well have a capacity some way below 2000 mAh.
cobill
Pimento, Yeah, like Steve said they are "dirt cheap" and if they don't work out, I can always spend $20+ each for a high-quality 26650 battery. I'm hoping to get 5000 mAH out of these.? Last night I found the EBL batteries on AliExpress and ordered 8 of those, just to have some backup. Hope they show up at my mailbox.? Steve Herschbach
My four EBL batteries ran $21 total, but I’m betting you are probably fine. 8000? Probably not, but 5000 is a decent bet. And it is Amazon after all. Check them when you get them, and if no good, return immediately.
Popular Post Steve Herschbach
Got exactly 3.5 hours before the beach got busy enough I left, so 6 hours total running time so far. I will not charge and will continue on next go until batteries die to get full runtime figure. The setup was great. The pound battery removed from under the elbow combined with a neutral coil weight in water made the detector nearly weightless. And my Sun Ray Pro Gold (CTX version) have a little better comfort and sound for above water use. I will definitely keep this rig even if I get another AQ, as a chest/hip mount battery works better than I anticipated.
Joe Beechnut OBN
Let us know the voltage when they run dry also. Since we are using the same batteries be interesting to see if the run times and end voltage are close. Today...start..16.7 Hunt 2 hours and 50 minutes End voltage 15.5 Be back out with it Saturday Saturday start 15.5 Hunt 3 hours 20 minutes End voltage 14.5 Total run time was 8 Hours and 31 minutes..end voltage was 13.1 I may let it run out tonight and see how much time is left..Right now we are setting at 6 hours 10 minutes..I;'ll take that with a smile..have to look up what I figured.. Picture from the start ..what I predicted...think its going to fall short? looking for more then 7 hours..going to be close? See what the end voltage is when the lights start flashing and the AQ is screaming for more.....this thing is a Power hog.
The Seeker
I like your setup Steve, so I put my order for the batteries and box. I’m keeping my fingers crossed hoping the AQ gets back to me before the parts ?
