Thoughts For The Mi-7

Thanks Doc,

I keep mine as clean as possible and greased up, but it still sticks hard. I try not to over tighten it as it will squeeze the washer out. Square threads help a lot with that. I don't see any need for the red disc insert either. 🤔

Mine is always super tight as well. I was a machinist and am now one of those darned engineer guys and I wonder if the issue is the material and tolerance  more than the thread pitch or shape if threads?  I’m with you though F350. square threads are a better fit for repeated hand loosening/tightening cycles.  The trade off is that they don’t hand tighten to a seal as well though.

How about a probe that would act like a coil and show the VDI on the controller screen and give the audio tone of the target. Hey I had one of those Sunray DX-1 probes on my old DFX back in the day that did exactly that except it wasn't wireless. 😉

Now that would be great. Dig up a target and stick the pin-pointer in the ground and get an accurate VDI. XP if you’re reading please make this available in the MI-7.

It would also be nice to locate it  on the Go Terrrain app. 😀

Yeah, It would be nice just to locate the Go Terrain app itself.   C'mon XP, talk to us.

But integrating the Mi-X PP with Go Terrain to set up its modes, locate it, and to be able to use it in "smart mode" with Deus 2 AND other detectors (via Bluetooth LE), if Go Terrain ever shows up, would be great.

Ferrous/Non-ferrous would be a great add. Don't really need TID but if it basically comes along for free with ferrous/non-ferrous, I'd take it.

Vibration in connected mode.

Finally getting to the root cause of the wonky connection issues would be great so it isn't such a crap shoot.

It could be a problem with where the transmit/receive antenna is located in the pinpointer. If it's in the hand grip, it could be getting partially blocked by the users hand. I've never seen the insides of the MI-6 so that's just a guess at the problem.

Check out this video.  It shows how to disassemble the MI6 and you get a good view of the guts of the pp.

I actually had do this disassembly to physically disconnect the battery to reset it when it locked up in the "On" state once.

I like the end of the video where Gary says “ with a little bit of luck, your MI-6 will work”. What could possibly go wrong? 😂
