Beautiful and very scarce to rare finds JCR...Love the patina! The vintage ruler adds an extra touch of class.

unique finds and I would like to know what they came from as those old items could have bee used on many things including trains.

Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.

Both were found at early sites that pre date the coming of the railroads in my area.  The International RR and the Great Northern RR built through here and crossed each other in 1872. They merged a short time later, and built large shops, some of which are still in operation.

Nice taps, JCR. 👍 I've found quite a few of them, all brass or some copper alloy, none quite as fancy, always green. What makes yours black?

The small one is actually a very dark green patina. You can still see some of the staining from the red clay dirt in the crevices. That one required some serious cleaning. The large one is more of a natural mossy brown color as it was dug on a sandy site.
