Popular Post RobNC
Went to a local school that I've never found anything good at in the past. Lots of play areas and ball fields but lots of junk. Today was different. these finds are indeed meager compared to some other places but for this place that has never given anything more than a penny here and there this is the best hunt yet at that dead zone. I was surprised because I had dug quite a few aluminum can tabs today. The location is littered with them and other great things like screws, can slaw, loads of 10-11 ID foil, and even larger pieces of foil heading up to the 30-33 range. I was hoping for a ring but every time I dug a ring looking ID and sounded good it was an aluminum can tab. Did find a kids earring, complete with the back on it. Obviously junk but still a small target fished out of a pile of other lesser interesting junk. I didn't include a picture of all the can tabs, can slaw, and pieces of pressed copper pipe. Best thing was the US Dollar coin. Only the second one I've found metal detecting. This brings the Legend up even with the Equinox 800 on those. Does anyone else ever take a little while to get "warmed up" when detecting? I seem to peak at about the 45 minute to 1 hour mark and really connecting with the machine and also the feel of the place I'm hunting. At about the 2 hour mark it wanes a bit and the arm gets to hurting, but I've pushed it pretty hard the past few hunts and extending out the hunt time. Tendonitis sucks. And I had a messed up eye today. Chronic dry eye and rubbing real hard when you wake up equals a BLOODSHOT eye. Went to eye doc and got some stuff. Looks rough but is essentially a bruise in the eye. Looks like death though.. LOL Not my first time having it over the years. Even with one eye not 100% and tendonitis in my swing arm still found stuff in a crappy location!! YEAH that is what it is all about!
NCtoad
I have days like that too. In fact I had a similar type hunt on Sunday at the local high school. Kept digging those 60s targets (D2) hoping for a ring but just getting pull tabs. Also dug quite a few mid 80s hoping for a big class ring, but only getting fresh zincolns. It’s still fun to get out though.

GB_Amateur
Those $1 USA brass coins are always a surprise find for me, although not as big of a surprise as a half dollar in my case. I've still yet to recover a Susan B. Anthony (clad) dollar. I tend to be more open-minded at the beginning of a hunt, meaning I'll dig targets which tend to be out of my 'favorites' regions (coin TID's) and then get pickier as the day progresses. This definitely has to do with fatigue, back pain, etc. The worst thing that can happen (short of injury, of course) is the loss of concentration that can occur later in a hunt. When that happens to me I take a rest break (5 minutes or so) and if it continues I just pack it in. Paying attention to all the subtle hints is what brings in the tougher finds in many cases and concentration is required for that.

Concerning the tendonitis it might come from a too heavy detector . I say this because me and my cousin have had this issue a few years ago . My cousin was close to stop the hobby because of the elbow pain . We have both solved the pb after changing to a lighter detector.
