  1. Ok video but unfortunately for most of it we have no idea what the settings are...
  2. All detectors are good at some things and not others. You have to weigh it all in balance, and that is what makes your report important Steve. It is what it is, and no sugar coating it. In the roughest of generalities I would say Equinox is a gold detector that does well on silver and BBS/FBS are silver detectors that do well on gold. Both see targets invisible to the other. This test makes Equinox not look so good, gold chain tests make BBS/FBS look bad. Minelab E-trac, CTX 3030, Excalibur Versus Equinox

  4. My Deus HF coil was a year and a half late!! I did not go nuts on XP. The AT Max was late. The F75+ which is just an old detector with a different color scheme was late! My F-Pulse pinpointer was almost two months late - I was not putting the torch to First Texas. The Nokta Impact took over a year of waiting. And where is the Gold Kruzer by the way? I waited for Equinox for twenty years! It’s been frustrating watching cell phone technology advance at lightspeed knowing all the while what detector manufacturers could do if making the same old boxes was not industry priority number 1. Thankfully I lived long enough to see what was in my head finally made reality. People seriously need to learn how to chill. I just put detecting aside and spent three weeks visiting family. Take your spouse out. Get a puppy. Play with the kids. Watch the sun rise. Breath.
  5. The reality is in three years better higher capacity batteries will probably exist. The technology is not standing still.

  7. I agree Tom, though it sure is not just Minelab. In my mind a round concentric has a field like a soccer ball cut in half, and the DD a field like a football cut lengthwise in half. Best diagram I ever saw here from Jeff Fosters Digging Deeper With The DFX
  8. It’s not a fluke. Saw it with my own eyes. As have quite a few other knowledgeable detectorists now. As will others, because Multi-IQ actually IS doing something different. People who hunt highly mineralized ground are much more likely to “get” Equinox than those used to hunting milder locations.
  9. If Google is employed it is clear the coin on edge issue has existed for many detectors and is probably related to high speed reporting of the actual lines of force emanating from the search coil. There is zero evidence this is unique to Equinox. Some detectors are better and some are worse, but this is not some weird never seen before phenomenon. 10. No, I am GLAD you started the thread. I just drew the line on any new ones getting started. People can read or ignore this one as they please but a two new threads on the same subject every day was really starting to turn people off. So thanks and great news!
  11. Faster recovery speeds tolerate faster sweep speeds. In general no matter the sweep speed it is wise to slow down in dense trash. Bottom line both sweep speed and recovery speed work together. Owners Manual Page 51: Swing Rate A good general swing rate is around 2-3 seconds from right-to- left-to-right. A higher Recovery Speed generally allows for a faster swing rate with less likelihood of missing targets. A higher Recovery Speed, for the same swing rate, will help to reject ground noise, but also decrease detection depth. A lower Recovery Speed, for the same swing rate, will increase detection depth, but may increase noise. If you are experiencing high levels of ground noise at the beach, or when detecting underwater, try increasing the Recovery Speed to reduce the noise. It is also possible to vary both swing rate and Recovery Speed to help minimise ground noise.
  12. As long as you all don’t tear out each other’s throats I’m cool. Minelab is watching with nearly as much frustration as you are feeling. Yeah, they set themselves up but the fact is the demand worldwide is off the charts.
  13. “A Perth family has found the world's oldest known message in a bottle, almost 132 years after it was thrown into the sea, Australian experts say. Tonya Illman picked up the bottle while going for a walk around sand dunes on a remote beach in West Australia. Her husband Kym Illman told the BBC they found some paper in the bottle but had "no idea" what it was until they took it home and dried it in the oven. Experts have confirmed it is an authentic message from a German ship. The note in the bottle, which was dated 12 June 1886, was jettisoned from the German ship Paula, as part of an experiment into ocean and shipping routes by the German Naval Observatory. Previously, the Guinness world record for the oldest message in a bottle was 108 years, between it being sent and found.” Full story http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-43299283
  14. Forget the User Profile. Choose one of the Search Profiles closest to what you want, and modify it accordingly. The detector saves the changes automatically and the will be there exactly as you left them next time you use the detector. If you want to start over, you can reset that profile individually or do a full system reset. In my opinion User Profile is not worth the hassle, but that’s just me.
  15. They are attempting to illustrate in a very loose fashion how the detector performs related to items in the ground. Equinox is extremely sensitive and you can get the coils to do funny things air testing, just like you can with DD coils on other very sensitive detectors. I have observed what you are describing with other detectors, since one coil is the receive coil and the other the transmit coil. I have seen hot spots where cables enter coils. I have seen detectors exhibit sensitivity to items where the coil connects to the control box. Equinox magnifies all this in air tests due to it being extremely powerful. None of it is unusual on powerful machines with DD coils and not particularly relevant to whether the detector is properly working as designed detecting objects buried in the ground. That's the best I can offer. If you really do think your coil or detector is defective I recommend you contact your dealer, and if they are unable to help you, Minelab directly. 16. The translation is not working well. I am sorry but I don’t understand the question.
  17. Since this is no longer about vehicle suggestions I assume the conversation is finished?
  18. Welcome to the forum! I don’t understand the question. As far as the rest, Equinox development is done at this time except for bug fixes. Contact Minelab directly with suggestions for next generation product.
  19. You may want to contact Dilek and try and get a test unit Mike - have some input.
  20. I can tell you what Minelab would say because here is what they say regarding the GPX at https://www.minelab.com/knowledge-base/frequently-asked-questions I Would Like To Extend My Coil Cable, Can This Be Done? No, cable characteristics are matched to coil windings at manufacture, so extending the cable will reduce the performance of the coil. But as you say people have done it.
  21. The only way to judge if the performance of a coil is acceptable or not is how it performs on targets buried in the ground, especially as directly compared to another make/model detector with a similar coil. Air testing DD coils will generate all sorts of complex signals on coins in air tests especially with a detector as fast as a Equinox. What is the medal made of? About Coils by Dave Johnson Owners Manual Page 19:
  22. I have not heard of such a thing and given how finely tunes/balanced the GPZ is I would be concerned about how extending the cable might have some impact on how the machine works.
