  1. Badger-NH, I'm giving my 6" coil to my son. He's only got the 11" so this will give him a small coil when he needs one. It's going to take some time using the 5x10 before I get to know it and what it can or can't do but first impressions are good. I think you're right about it replacing the 6" at least for me it will or I should say it has.lol
  2. Yes, I really like it. I did get to dig one deeper wheatie (probably only 8")so that was ok. The lighter weight was nice. I like the length, I was able to move along fine. We all knew it would separate good. It'll just take time to give it a better evaluation but for now I'm happy I have it. Just my thoughts from today's hunt. Thanks, Tom .
  3. Good luck Dan! Hope it hits some of those deeper keepers. Tom
  4. To late to wait mine will be here Mon. I don't mind being a guinea pig. 😁
  5. Bought one yesterday. Already have my tracking number so hopefully next week I'll have some info. on performance. At least here in SW Mo. soil. My soil isn't the best or worst so the depths I get are in between the extremes.
  6. Wow!! The boiling water and the right sized tin to snap it on to then ran cold water on it and its perfect. Thanks for the idea!
  7. Haven't tried anything yet. Those sound like good ideas. Was hoping someone had already had success in making it wider and would share how they did it. Thanks for the ideas!
  8. Does anyone have any advice on how to make the arm cuff wider. I don't remember the orx being this tight. I don't have large forearms so I know there's guys having the same problem. Thanks!
  9. Maybe at one of our meetings we have everyone bring their machine. Set them all up the same and just see what happens. It would be interesting but what do you do if there's one that doesn't perform like the rest? Switching coils would certainly give some insight as to whether it's the coil or machine.
  10. Good luck Tim! I think I'll challenge our club members with a similar goal in some of our parks.
  11. Started around 83 bought a bounty hunter outlaw at a catalog return store. Used the tr mode until I figured out how the vlf worked. Then I started finding coins. First silver a 1913 barber dime. Upgraded to a whites 6000 di pro, Eagle ll sl, Spectrum xlt. I also took time off but have been back for about ten years now and have tried twelve different detectors before settling on the Equinox and Deus. Since I retired in 2017 I hunt quite often.😁
  12. ColonelDan, that's great and that's what you would think/hope should happen. I may just be over thinking it and as many have stated there are so many things coming into play that could make a difference. Thanks for the replies. It's probably nothing to be concerned about. Tom
  13. We would hold the coils away from each other when checking. We hunt close together a lot and if there is a problem with another machine hitting the noise cancel seems to take care of it. At the last hunt there were five of us hunting in close proximity of each other with 800's and I did have to noise cancel once. It's just something I wondered about. Not everyone else's machine has failed to acknowledge the target but I can think of a couple of them that certainly did. Who knows...the idea of it being the coil could hold some merit..🤔
  14. That's the reason I'm keeping mine some were set up the same and others weren't. Still I didn't think the targets were anything special. Actually didn't say anything but in the back of my mind I was sure thinking. You know, wondering why they weren't hitting the target. Anyways I don't see mine going anywhere. lol
  15. The reason I ask is because a number of the guys in our club have 800's. When we go on hunts there have been times I'll hit a target and they'll want to listen to it. Many times they don't hear it or maybe just barely with theirs My machine is just out of warranty now and I'm reluctant to get a different one for that reason. I've heard stories about machines being hotter than others or...just maybe better? Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
  16. Equinox 800 mostly 90+% Vanquish 540 played with a while Orx played with a while Deus still playing with when I'm not using the 800
  17. If minelab doesn't come out with one soon I will seriously consider giving the Garrett set up a go.
  18. I've been wanting this coil every since I purchased the Equinox. I'll let ya know when I get it what the verdict is. 😁
  19. I use the fe set at 3 and that's what I've done for more than two years now. It works for me and don't feel a need to change.
  20. I just read about the possibility of an elliptical coil coming out and that sounds great!! What I think would be the number two thing for me would be a pinpointer that paired with my headphones. That and being very light are what I really like about the deus. I know some of you don't use the sound on your pinpointer but for me the paired mi6 has spoiled me. Everytime now when I use the 800 with my trx I'm wishing the sound was coming thru my headphones. I know just personal preference but I love it. HH, Tom
  21. CPT, I got it edited to say Mexican. I had it as Mexican in the first part of the post just never really thought about it being different but you're right they are. Thanks!
  22. Yes, I use a kind of back and forth search method like I was mowing.
  23. Well the title says it all. I was detecting at an old town that is mostly gone. We got the permission from a really nice older couple that gave us plenty of info about the town and it's history. They cut hay off an area that used to have houses on it so off we went. Only found two coins but both were old. The first was the what is that coin and the second a shield nickel. I had dug an old barrel spigot on my first pass and wasn't really finding much at all. Then about the third trip across I hit some really big numbers that sounded good. I was thinking perhaps another spigot or relic of some type. I popped out the plug and could see the side of what I thought could be maybe a silver dollar! I pulled it out of the plug and wiped off some dirt and thought what is that..lol I was pretty sure it was silver and an 1829 Mexican coin but other than that...clueless. My detecting buddy looked at it and told me I had found a Mexican 8 reales. I thought it was cool before being the oldest coin I had found but after realizing what I had found I got reales happy!! 😁 I was told they were used as American currency until 1857 which made it even more special to me. Ya just never know. Oh, Equinox still pk1 ib3 recovery7. HH! Tom
