  1. Thanks Joe! Hit a couple places where a church used to be. Not a bad pay off.
  2. First hunt six indians and a barber quarter with a few treasures. Second hunt 36 Washington, 1901s barber dime and what I believe to be an early Indian. (they are usually brown like a nickel) it's wore pretty smooth but the numbers reflected an early Indian. Still pk1 ib3 rec7...Thanks for looking! HH!!
  3. I did a little trading and have an orx coming with the x35 coil. I picked this up to partner with the Equinox 800.
  4. Thanks Joe, it was fun but different. You know how the saying goes"there's no place like home" lol. I did see some places in Tennessee and Kentucky that I sure would like to hunt. I did get to go for just a little while at a park in Tennessee. I got a wheatie and the inside of a pocket watch there. I hated that I didn't get to hunt longer. It was a cool place.
  5. First time on the beach so it was a new experience for me. The Vanquish ran very quiet over the dry and wet sand. I was able to run the sensitivity maxed 99% of the time. No great finds but did get some deep and some small targets. I ran in the jewelry mode with 1 notched out. Couple opals found about 15ft. apart I'm sure they came from the same piece of jewelry. A sterling earring back along with another small silver(?) piece off something and a fake coin that I at least said hmmm when I first dug it Lol . Plenty of clad coins. I almost (almost) quite digging those 10 plus inch zinc signals but it was a good experience. Thanks for looking! Tom
  6. phrunt, I bought the 10" coil to complete the set for my 540. I like these coils better than my Equinox coils too. I'm coming from a Fisher f19 with a 5" and 9x11 but the stock 5x10 was my favorite coil of all. I absolutely love the coil selection for the Vanquish so I'm not worried about any aftermarket coils. For me these are all I'll need. I'm with you 100% on the vanquish coils..wish they would fit on my nox 800.😁
  7. Is the connector for the headphones the same on a max as the at pro. Thanks!
  8. Bashing, Did a quick stint at the park this morning and found a Battle of Verdun coin/medallion dated 1916. My grandfather was in that battle.
  9. Hey Mark, war nickels are a mysterious coin...lol. I have found quite a few with the Equinox and the numbers have varied quite a bit but that particular one was really high. There have been a lot of theories about why but I like the simple one where they either just didn't have the correct amount of each component or it didn't cook, mix or whatever they do when making it long enough to evenly distribute the ingredients. Human error in other words. No one really knows for certain. I was sure proud of this one when I found it. I don't think they come along often. I'm sad to say I haven't found as many war nickels as I used to but I'm sure the answer is my getting lazy and not digging as many targets in the pull tab range. Good luck and HH! Tom
  10. I've had my 540 for a little while and I'm getting a little more comfortable with it. It seems a very capable machine for my hunting needs. Learning a new machine I tend to dig a lot a targets to see what its saying. About a million rusty nails later I'm getting a feel for it..lol. It seems to me there's a smaller gray area with the Vanquish verses the Equinox. Not everything sounds perfect and with my Equinox a lot of sounds weren't the best but there weren't enough bad sounds in them to say don't dig. I've started to find that cut off on the Equinox as to what you can get away with digging and still have a chance of finding a good target. But that area seems smaller so far with the Vanquish more cut and dry. It doesn't take much of that raspy sound (what I call it) at all for me to say don't dig it (I'm kinda getting tired of digging nails) and honestly how many do you have to dig to learn that sound is a rusty target. Just some of my thoughts so far. I've yet to take them both out at once and compare signals but I'm sure I will at some time in the future. Having fun right now just playing with the Vanquish. HH, Tom
  11. Has anyone else tried to pair up the module with their Vanquish. Thanks!
  12. I have taken the last set of headphones I bought and tried them out to see about lag and they are terrible!! Also did more testing with the first pair and there is a slight difference in lag on them. They are usable but there is a little lag. The second pair I bought remind me of what Chase was referring to when he said they wouldn't work on your detector and these won't!! I checked all the numbers ect. on each set and they're the same but not even close on lag time. Sorry for any confusion I might have caused. Thanks and HH!
  13. Chase, you're right. I sure wouldn't want to mislead anybody and them get something that wouldn't work for them. I'm very happy with these and like I stated in my previous post. I wasn't able to tell any difference between these and my wired minelab phones on lag time or if there was it was so close I couldn't really tell. I think I got lucky maybe. HH Tom
  14. Chase, I agree with you 100% about it not being in the description and that's why I we sceptical about those. I don't think they are exactly like these but couldn't say that for certain. Here's the description on these in the pic. This is the description of the second pair I bought. I took my minelab headphones and hooked them up wired while running my wireless at the same time. One ear covered with each phone and couldn't tell any difference in speed of sound. But I don't see a plus sign next to the Bluetooth symbol...? Tom
  15. I'm sorry. I bought them from eBay but just looked and could not find them available now.
  16. Norm, Yes there are and I'm sure when Steve sees your post he'll put some links up for you. Good luck it's an awesome machine! Tom
  17. Sube, I think we should get a bunch of different detectors and do the test. I'm thinking we may find it's just the nature of the beast. But I think I understand the question now and you were hoping one of the guys on here could explain why that happens. I'm sorry I can't help with a real scientific explanation but I see what you're asking. Perhaps someone with more knowledge about the field will have some insight. HH! Tom
  18. Sube, Pull tabs are a detectors nightmare. They are an accepted target. How many times have you dug a target and were surprised to see what was in the hole. Quarter numbers being two dimes stacked. I've even dug a nickel signal that had a merc under it. I can tell you if there's junk around a good target the nox will lock onto it and the other stuff seems to disappear once you're over the top of the good target. The coil being over a conductive target (Pull tab) the machine simply says there it is. Locking on to the best signal. Iron is much easier to see thru. I think possibly because it's a ferrus target and the machines brain tries to separate it from conductive targets. I've seen tests where the good targets and bad targets are really close or even stacked and the machine will hit with skewed numbers from what a normal signal for that certain target would be. Notching out the pull tab numbers and going to the small coil helps. You get a three way with the numbers off. Also with out the numbers notched I would get two distinct signals one way with the lower pull tab numbers being dominant. When doing a 90 degree I could hear the high tone on the dime and the low tone on the pull tab when backing off the high tone . Again numbers not indicative of a dime but higher than a tab. Just knowing there's two different targets there should cause a guy to dig. Thanks for posting this. I have learned something that may help me because I detect a lot in old hunted out parks. This is why I keep my small coil.😁
  19. I bought these to just give them a try. I really like the way they talk to you. The noise canceling feature is cool (I don't know how it works but it does) but makes it harder to hear your pin pointer so I rarely use it. They are very affordable which is why I tried them. I noticed they would make a really static like sound sometimes and was concerned but have since found out there's just bad junk in the ground causing it. Anyways for $25 I bought another pair for back up. Oh, they pair up way better than my original headphones. I turn on the machine and when its gone through start up I turn these on..you hear power on then it either says pairing then connected or just connected and power off when you shut them down. Also disconnected if you get to far away from your machine or shut down the machine and leave the headphones on. To me they sound good.
  20. GB, I couldn't remember the id#'s on the love token but it's mostly 19's and 20's....it's pretty thin. I've seen those tokens both ways and some have a hole in them. I'm not sure when the hotel went out of business but I did see an 1884 date when it was open. I'll try and find out some more info about it. We're in the old part of town and the sheriff's dept. bought three old houses and had them removed for an expansion. This stuff came from the house across the street from where I got the other tokens. I have one more token that came from this yard that's soaking. I can't make out all the writing on it yet...hopefully it will clean up but I have my doubts about it. Good luck and HH! Tom
  21. I'm pretty sure it's a dime with the engraving on it. There is a building on the square that's supposed to be haunted....not sure if it's the same one...lol
  22. Another trade token and what I think is a love token. It's the same size as a dime and the reeds match up. Here's a pic of the hotel.
  23. Yes they cleaned up very nice....a little mineral oil and a tooth pick. They both came in right on 21 which is a zinc penny number and they weren't real deep...sometime it pays off to dig those zinc numbers.
