Later Rather Than Sooner On The 6000?

Thanks for the update, Rob. Looks like my new NF-ZS will be of good service then. Will arrive tomorrow. Thanks again. -

Let's see when coil covers become available. Not sure how long the single supplied one will last. No chip, hence no excuse... -

I never intended to use the built-in speaker in the first place. Either BT headphones, or BT receiver and then booster to speaker. JP suggested a good combo for the latter. I think in all the time I own the SCD I never use the built in speaker once. But that's just me, everyone has different preferences. -

I heard the US issue-fix from a pretty reliable source. If that would indeed be true (which we don't know for sure), it would make me wonder whether this would be a consistent problem across continents or just needed for the US batch. -

I heard rumors that there were issues with the US models that needed to be fixed. No idea if there is anything to it. Likely a combination of several factors, including Covid and chip shortage. -
I am really looking forward to this coil and am very curious how the 7 will perform with it. Thus far, I've only read and seen great things about it. The 7/12 and the 6/11 will be a powerhouse duo to have I have no doubt.

I should receive mine by the end of the week 😁 Finally something that made it to the "forgotten market"

I ordered the same cover from the same company for my 7000. I think they are almost identical. It actually is slightly to big for the 7000 control box so I kept it in reserve for the 6000

That would be another reason to get the 6000.... 😆

GPX 6000 - Tips, Tricks, Technical Questions

Good point. I think there is more going on. It's a painful tease to see all our Au mates having fun while we are still waiting. -

Great question. It's a head scratcher. I don't recall how the 7 got distributed across regions when it first got out, but now it surely appears that the US is all the way on the bottom. -

Correction: low/hi/low is what I have mostly seen in 6000 videos, not high/low/high -
GPX 6000 - Tips, Tricks, Technical Questions

Thanks, Norvic. Here in the US we are confined to enjoying the 6000 via Youtube only, with no imminent change on the horizon that we are told about. So, thanks for your insights! Yes, the channel switching on the Z I have observed often, even within the same gold mode. I do have to admit that I am more excited about the mellow h/l/h signals as long as they are symmetrical and reproducible, but I totally agree that in general discrimination by ear is not something that should be advised. Shallow targets mostly give a l/h/l for me, but also that can vary. Interestingly, the SDC appears go give mostly h/l/h for "deeper" targets, although this also could be caused by mineralization/iron stones. -

19x F... word in the first 4 min. That's one F word every 12.6 sec. Oh well. Perhaps a noise cancel would have helped? 😉 Re settings, I noticed the threshold was very unstable. Perhaps a (detector) noise cancel would have made things better? Also, does the 6000 ever give a low/high response? In all videos I have seen thus far it was always low/high/low, if I am not mistaken. -

Are You A Big Gold Hunter Or Just Want It All?
Gold Catcher replied to Gerry in Idaho's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
To me every gold is precious and worth a dig, so I don't discriminate to just go for larger stuff. Sure, when I mount the GPZ 19 I don't look for sub-grammers, but by the end of the day when my jar rattles it gives me a feeling of satisfaction. Do I have fun recovering a 0.08 g flake with the 14in coil, no! But it is the challenge to get it right as often as possible, not so much what it will weigh at the end. Most of the nuggets I find are in the 0.2-5.0 g range, only occasionally bigger when I am lucky, so my ears are tuned to the small stuff. But that's fine with me, I prefer consistency over the lottery ticket . I welcome every golden piece of eternity that has my name on it 🙂 -
Great Time To Sell A Gold Detector?
Gold Catcher replied to strick's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Could very well be, I don't know either. The 14DD is not included in the Africa package. From that I conclude that they might not have the problems that we have here in AU/US. I suppose most over there are not as sophisticated and might not even understand all these differences, or they lack access to the vast coil armamentum due to price or supply issues. I think for most it is pure survival there with whatever they have. This is another reason why I am surprised that Africa is actually the biggest primary ML market (supposing also for the 6000)? Who can afford a 6k machine over there? That is likely 5-6 x their annual income. ML dealers there better have body guards. -
Great Time To Sell A Gold Detector?
Gold Catcher replied to strick's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Truly remarkable, thanks for sharing. I wonder though whether they really would need a 6000 over there. It seems that for most the 5000 would do just fine, i.e. when combined with a bigger mono. There likely is very little EMI in the vast desert areas and not much mineralization, with fairly loose soil. I think Geosense would be overkill. Even the Monster should do assuming you have a good shovel to dig. -
My Walco Pick Finally Arrived!

Nice pick, Simon. And welcome back!! A pick I would love to have is a Supersede (see pic below). I think Nenad and JP had them some years back. Anybody knows if they are still available?? -

Thanks, yes this has been my understanding as well. It's just that I probably would have changed to the 14DD way before having to go all the way down to gain 1 with the 11 mono -

That's an interesting observation. Is this really so? This would suggest that dialing down on sensitivity but keeping the 11 mono would be a better choice than switching to the 14DD when needed, to not loose too much depth. Unless of course it's so bad that even at sensitivity 1 the 11 mono would not be stable.
