  1. Wow. Really? Access to safe deposit boxes are usually strictly regulated and the owner of the box needs to designate who has access to it. Then, this person granted with access needs to show up at the bank, together with the owner!, the ID will be registered and forms need to be signed. Just being a family member is not enough. Just imagine in what legal trouble the banks would get themselves into.
  2. The best practice is to buy physical gold bullion through a bank that has an investment arm that offers these services (i.e. Bank of America/Merrill Lynch) and then you store it in the banks designated vault. Then, you make it part of a trust. There should not be a problem with beneficiaries. You will be paying trading commissions and a storage fee/year. However, this is worth it. You can even go and visit the gold you bought at the banks vault. Bring you ML detector...😀 Of course, this is very different to just having a safe deposit box for which different rules exist. You can designate anyone who you want to give access to. But you both have to show up at the bank to set it up. You can also title the bank safe account to a trust. Buying gold bullion through a bank, as described above, is very different and is usually meant for larger gold investments for asset preservation.
  3. ML has always been focused on innovation. I can't imagine they would come out with a model that has nothing else to offer than a lower price. That is just not what their name stands for IMO. All current models have some kind of edge over others and I don't think this will change anytime soon. In fact, given the demand for the 6000, I would not be suprised if they already have the next generation ZVT in the works, as the highest priced model yet to come. And I bet it will sell!
  4. I am sorry for this reality check. I'm fully aware that I won't get any likes for my post 😉 But this is just how our world operates. If you like to change it, count me in.
  5. Thanks for that note, Steve. I could not agree more. The RD cost behind every new technology it's tremendous. I work in the pharmaceutical industry. People often ask why many drugs are so expensive. Well, it costs about two to three billion dollars to develop one single medication. If we don't make this money back and some profit, we will just not invent better medicines that help people. It is that simple. It is a sad reality that I don't like neither, but this is just the reality take it or not. GC
  6. Actually, it might even be better to have a book compiled with all high profile detectorists who have, at one time or the other, contributed to the success story of ML. Seeing their spectacular gold finds in high gloss format, together with a brief history of their discoveries with individual comments would make this a really nice testament of ML's excellence, added in every new detector box.
  7. ML should put a copy of this book in the box of every detector they sell.
  8. Let it be a wind that brings wisdom and knowledge from a legend. Welcome back, Reg!!
  9. I usually switch to the Bogene settings when EMI is really bad. It is not my preferred way to run the 7000, but it helps tremendously and you can still be very productive. And, you can keep your sanity at times when the EMI want's to take it from you!
  10. All good points, everyone has a different stand on how to reseve a spot in line. However, I think the situation is not that straight forward because dealers were told back in March that it would just be a few short weeks before the machines would come in. So, some started to take preorders and some customers already paid in full, based on their own choosing. This is not uncommon practice for a hot new item. But then all of the sudden the situation changed which was not forseable by anyone. So, the dealers are not to blame in my view. At least that is my understanding of what occured.
  11. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Looks like a GM in pinpointer mode. But hey, it could have been worse, she could have carried a 6000 😅
  12. So true, we need all help we can get! I have some off-limit areas in mind that I would love to get access to. And if high heels are what it would take to get to them I am sure I can find a pair somewhere 🤣
  13. I need a subscription to read the article. But looking at the pic I don't know if I want to read it....
  14. I can't seem to find a short (i.e. 3-6 inch) high quality 3.5 mm male to 3.5 mm male audio cable (or 3.5 mm male to angular 6.25 mm male). The ones I found are all > 1 feet. I like the SP01/Rx set up that you have, nice and compact. I ordered the same TaoTronics Rx/Tx. Just the short cable is hard to find, for whatever reason. I found one for a couple of bucks, but that looks poor quality. Anybody has a suggestion?
  15. Sorry to hear that you had so many issues with it. I bought my prosonic about two years ago for my SDC and it's still working fine. You should keep the one with the label upside down, it might be a collector's item one day 😉
  16. The shaft of my GPZ also slightly rotates with upper clamp fully locked. But it is only a minor issue. Every now and then I notice that the control box is not perfectly aligned with the coil. Then I just quickly adjusted it back. No big deal.
  17. Hopefully not a sign of what is currently going under the hood at ML. These things are extremely damaging.
  18. Wow. Looks like a counterfeit, and a pretty bad one....Did you buy it through an official ML dealer?
  19. I will be in the Winnemucca, NV region tomorrow and Sunday. Probably checking out one of the Comstock Gold Prospectors claims. If someone wants to meet up, PM me 🤠
