  1. Great report and very entertaining, thanks Gerry. IMO, the 6 is like a PI Gold Monster with an astounding signal response for fast timing gold. Re 7 misses targets, this will highly depend on how you run the 7. In high HY/Normal/smooting off and NF-Zsearch mounted (gain >10) the signal response comes pretty close to that of the 6 IMHO, without giving up the depth advantage that the 7 is having. But of course, the 6 shines for many reasons and is my to go detector any day. Probably the best all around detector ML ever made. GC PS: On the 7 there is a much bigger difference between normal and difficult than on the 6, at least from my experience thus far
  2. Stunning indeed, Mitchel! I hope your luck spills over to me too the next time we go hunting together 🙂
  3. Awesome, Doc! Great job with this! The tracking says mine is here by the end of the week. Thanks for sending! GC
  4. Thanks, JP. I hope I get to it on the weekend. Good info to have. My best wishes for a speedy recovery. GC
  5. Congrats, Sheppo. Awesome report, pictures and treasure! These kind of loads keep the dream alive for us poor US prospectors. Norvic, I might never leave when I come and visit you next year.....
  6. Here some 6000 finds from a couple of weeks ago before the wildfires got bad...The 6000 continues to amaze me. To my shame I have to admit that I haven't even mounted the 14DD yet.
  7. Hiiiiiiiiiii guys!!!! So glad DP is back online. Thanks whoever fixed it. Joined Prospecting Australia in the meantime as I had already given up after daily tries to log in. It's an ok forum, but just not the same as DP. I got my 17 but thus far was unable to use it due to all the wildfires and the crazy weather/smoke. But I have my full face respirator ready for this weekend because I WILL go !
  8. I am having problems like many others. It works intermittently for me. However, my phone login (android) stopped working altogether. Even clearing cookies won't help. We might be hacked by some evil doers and ML haters...😉
  9. Great story and pics, Mitchel. The shoes might be luck bringers, you should keep wearing them. 😉 0.18 g is not bad for Barstow. I never got anything bigger in this general area. The landscape alone is worth the trip. I get mesmerised everytime I'm there.
  10. Thanks, JP. Great comments that provide clarity on this topic. It has been my impression all along that the GPZ remains king for depth. Even with the smaller NF Zsearch, which also seems to cover some of the 6000 capabilities for fast timing gold. I want to add though that this does not diminish by any means the glory of the 6000. This machine is just pure joy!!
  11. The 6000/17 will get away from the apparent "stigma" of being a small gold machine. A direct comparison with the GPZ 17X CC will be interesting then. I look forward to read Norvic's reports on this.
  12. 100% agree on that statement. The price tag for the 17 in coil is said to be $360. So, for $6400 USD you get an incredibly designed light weight an poweful PI detector with smart Geosense technology and three coils from 11 to 17 inch, including a 14DD speciality coil for EMI and ground cancel. There is really not alot more to ask for, with a total price tag that is $3600 USD cheaper than the original GPZ price tag with only one coil. I don't think it gets much better than that. Okay, extra battery for USD 160.
  13. Awesome Gerry, looking forward to it. Nothing is ever normal in CA, but there is still gold to be found! I will show you some favorite spots that won't disapoint you. And yeah, with a bit of luck you'll make it out alive. 😉
  14. Don't worry she always will be that lovely chick, regardless of what you write up about her when she is wearing the 17 😍
  15. Just got word that the 17 inch will be available starting sometime next week!! Will have mine soon 😁🤠
  16. You can make the threshold smooth by just reducing sensitivity to 1 or 2. It is then rock stable (mostly) and still very sensitive to shallow gold. A very pleasant experience then, combined with the light weight. Agreed on the video.
  17. She could also be back once the snow has melted away. But in any case, good thinking Simon. Sometimes, finding something of great sentimental value and then returning it to the unlucky person who lost it can be very rewarding. It will give you the feeling of having done something right for another person. And who knows, this might create so much positive Karma for you that the Gold Goddess might smile at you afterwards....😁
  18. Thanks for sending. Entertaining to watch. Couple of things I noticed: he did not do a GB when changing gold modes (recommended). Also, he says he is using default settings which also incudes low smoothing. With smoothing off and properly ground balanced he probably would have heard more, even in difficult. Also, when he changed to normal he did not do a noise cancel. Perhaps he could have stabilized normal better had he done both noise cancel and GB (as recommended in the owners manual when changing gold modes).
  19. For whatever it's worth, the Z/NF-Zsearch has punched deeper in HY/Normal-Gain 15 than the 6000/11 in Auto+/Normal. I have done this test a couple of times with 2 test nuggets (about 0.3 g with different consistency) at about 10 in depth in mineralized soil. The 6000/11 was nearly quiet (to an extend that I probably would not have dug the target) whereas the Z picked it up with a clearly noticeable but faint threshold warble. Now, as a disclaimer, I am not here to say the Z will punch deeper in general. These were isolated experiments and by no means representative. I also want to stress that I personally don't give much about these comparisons. Also, so much depends on circumstances that I don't think one can make general conclusions (i.e. different coil size/configuration, etc..) That being said, I want to learn more about the impact on depth at low gain, as I have posted earlier. The 6000 is a fantastic machine for many reasons and it absolutely is my to go detector. However, the Z will remain in my fleet, so much I know.
