  1. Thanks George that was bugging me. I've seen that photo identified for both north and south.
  2. definitely seems like a minelab production, have to look if it's on their site. edit.. not on their FB or web site that i could find.
  3. That's a great post😀. I got perfect name, the Placebo!
  4. Seen some on line that are pin back same basic design but flat. They were associated with Texas. But most like yours seem to be Louisiana. I think you cornered the market on them after searching the web! No idea about the chain unless it was issued or bought like that.
  5. Nice coins. I bet the small one is dated 1875.
  6. Got this from the web, not me but not saying i don't feel the same. My Encounter with a Palmetto Bug Once, while in New Orleans, I saw a cockroach on a kitchen counter. I think it saw me, too. I’m pretty sure of this, because the cockroach stood up on its back legs, making the terrifyingly large bug appear even bigger, and it hissed at me. I now know that Madagascar hissing cockroaches aren’t the only species of roaches that can audibly alert you to their discontent. Next, there was a kind of showdown. The cockroach spread its wings. It seemed to be gauging my reaction to determine if I would have the courage to confront it with the shoe I had taken off of my foot for the purpose of squashing it. Sensing that I was indeed planning on making a move, the cockroach leapt into the air with a flurry of beating wings and flew straight towards my face, sending me ducking for cover. The battle ended with me grabbing a can of Raid so I could kill the roach from a distance. I would have to say the Palmetto bug won that showdown. I now have PBTSD: Palmetto Bug Traumatic Stress Disorder.
  7. I spent a few winters around Brownsville years back. Everything wants to bite, stick or pinch a dumb Ioweegan😄 The first time i saw a Vinegaroon i think i sprained every muscle in my body! Flying cockroaches you can have too, just ain't right!
  8. -2 here in ioway. Think the only way to dig plugs would be to core drill.😄
  9. Hope you get it soon, i like your take on detecting. I think/guess you'll have it before that.
  10. The ring had a joint of some type and there is markings but doesn't say what they are. Fairly big ring.
  11. i know he teaches, high school i think. It comes across in his vid's well. Not sure what weather he's up against but hope to see a few more land vid's. If not he will be at the beach in a parka!
  12. Haven't watched it all but gold ring in the park.
  13. Hoping for a new knee for Xmas, mri today. A couple wedges in the right SI joint would be a good addition too but not been all that good. 😃
  14. The coil ears are yet to be thrashed by the weed wacker and crutch types, there's no hope.🙃
  15. Phrunt i never found a gold coin but your post and the nasa guy's gold coin list made me realize that gold, at least coins have a id number where as jewelry is all over. thanks
  16. Depth and the expanded ID range would haze it up a bit but once you've ran it awhile it should give some confidence in the id's. By hazing ID's im saying i think you'll see a wider spread on deep or corroded coins "halo'd".
  17. I had the golden µmax and compadre and used a bandito for a summer. In good damp ground i have dug dimes at 10 inches and maybe a foot. Not with the 4 inch but that little puck was a godsend in a trashy tavern parking lot that closed in the 1960's, pulled silver that i missed with bigger coils.
  18. Honestly heath issues have cut my detecting to just above nil. 2019-20 i was learning the 800 and feeling good about my detecting. But i never messed with tone pitch and all the sound capabilities except lowering iron volume. Tried a few programs on user profile for deep silver. Anyway the 800 is chugging along fine and until it dies or the new units are proven i'll be happy dirtsniffin with what i have. Fun to see the progression but learned a lesson in 2018, salute to all you Buzz Lightyears 🥇
  19. I can wait till spring. 6,7,8 or nine I dont think we are handicapped which ever you have and time is on my side weather wise. After the 800 debacle i want to how the facts shake out a little more.
  20. http://www.hesperianpress.com/ Didn't see that book but type gold or mining in the search box and plenty more show up.
  21. Hard to lock on anything out there. No ferrous on the pendant with my magnet. I like this coil too.
