Thank you guys for your help, yeah no wireless headphones with the Deus either Jeff. I am thinking I might get the new ORX with the 9 HF round and wireless phones... I also get the 5 year warranty which is a bonus if something goes wrong. Thanks again for your help guys:)

Thanks Chase, the deus comes with the HF eliptical coil, I also noted that the HF coils can go down to around 15khz so that would be low enough for some areas and targets I hunt. But like you said the 25khz spot is where I think I would most likely use it. Some places I have hunted with the NOX I have had to turn off M/F and just use 20 -40 khz as the ground was just so noisy and the machine worked wonders on single Freq in that particular area.

HI Jeff, the Deus has the elliptical HF coil with it, it also has the remote control and no headphones. I was thinking maybe getting the round 9 HF for the ORX if I go that way. Our coins ring in pretty high, at least the old silver and copper coins do anyway. Our decimal coins 1 and 2 dollars come in around 20-22 on the NOX.

Gday guys, I have the opportunity of buying a used Deus for a little less than a new ORX. I have been mulling over this for weeks, does anyone have any advice. I really only want an XP to be able to put it into a backpack, trek into the bush and use it for relic hunting, and a little gold here and there. The warranty factor is something that is swaying me towards the new ORX machine...but I know the Deus has many more features and options. I already have a Equinox 800 for beaches, coins and relic's but I am just wanting something easier for a few locations where I want to travel in stealth wise. So pretty much the question I am asking what would you do, Buy a S/Hand Xp Deus or Buy a new Xp ORX with the desired coil (round hf coil) and Warranty. cheers guys.

Equinox Fe Vs F2 Iron Bias Relic Hunting
unox replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Just wondering guys, It just seems that FE-2-0 would be using a very limited filtering system, but by moving it up to FE-2-4 would have been a more accurate result and comparison between FE2 and FE modes. I have been doing some backyard testing here and I really like the FE-2-4 an a Swing/Speed of 6, it seems to run very nicely in my test garden. edit: Thanks for posting the Video Steve. -
Yeah be interesting to see how it goes on the new settings. Might have a play in the yard later.

Yep totally enjoyable video well done XP.

Thanks again NSC for all your info on the shaft, cant wait to get it all setup. cheers

Top information again guys... look forward to seeing how yours turn out as well DukeBoxer and thanks for the link. Thinking about the locking pin I will drill a couple of holes (3 or 4) as I want to use in the surf as well. NSC how is yours going is it much better do you think, I image it would be though.

I have been wondering the same thing, I also received my plugger locks yesterday I will have to grab a shaft next.

Shallow Coin Detectng With The Equinox

Very nice will have to try that out, thanks for posting that Steve. Those 1 and 2 dollar coins add up quickly...got to love them? -
Thanks for the video Steve thats interesting, I watched your ctx video as well.

Good one Norm thats a good result mate. I have a coffee bottle I am trying to fill, I just cheated and counted it to see how much is there so far $163. We are lucky here in Australia with or 1 and 2 dollar coins they add up pretty quick, once again well done mate.

Thanks NSC, my son is a fitter so I am hoping he may be able to help me with the actual final building of the carbon shaft. He is a very busy person and doesn't have much time to himself anymore so most times I just go it alone and use trial and error. I am pretty much retired now so have plenty of time to play around with little projects and look forward to the challenge. I will definitely be using a drill press though to try and get it as close as possible. Happy Hunting

Just ordered a couple of plugger locks, will get the carbon fiber shaft soon I may even try making one out of aluminum shaft to practice on.

Surprised By The Amount Of Sand In The Coil Cover!
unox replied to SittingElf's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Yes there is a fair bit hey, I just took mine apart and cleaned it all up from a small beach hunt yesterday. Got to admit I am pretty fussy when I clean my detectors they have a lovely bath in warm soapy water followed by a blow dry lol. -
The reason I want a different shaft is mine is wobbly and clicks every time it is swung. I done a beach-water hunt yesterday and without a better shaft I wont go in the water again it just felt flimsy.

Thanks for the info NSC

That is sweet great job NSC, I was only thinking about making my own last night . That's a good saving alright and it will do the same job mate. Just wondering did you get the plugger lock on eBay and where did you pick up the shaft from.

Anderson Shafts Available Soon For Equinox
unox replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
Hey thanks guys, I did read the thread that Steve posted and contacted Minelab, but they said they had no knowledge of the fault and were pretty much oblivious to what I was trying to explain. So after a couple of return calls they said they would have a look at it, thats if I want to send it back in (2000km) my expense of course. The Anderson's Shaft look like a good alternative and rock solid by your reports think I might try and get one of them instead. -
Anderson Shafts Available Soon For Equinox
unox replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
I have a fair deal of wobble on mine on the top joint knuckle, the arm cuff is very wobbly as well. I am seriously looking at one of these shafts but as you said the standard one is good for travel which is a big plus for me. But if the anderson's takes out the dreaded wobble I think I might spring some coin for one.
