  1. Willy.. Thanks for all the information. It sure helps a lot of us with inquiring minds!
  2. I can also see that being a "problem" if waves are intermittently hitting that area. Had it happen to me with an Infinium. As soon as the salt water touched the plug area or if the housing came in contact with my wet trunks it would sound off. Funny thing... it never happened "out of the box" but I sent it in for some repair and when it came back the problem arose. So I sent it back again and it was fixed. I don't know what they did. I wonder if the AQ will be even worse in the salt water?
  3. I think anything is possible with the final distribution. I wouldn't want to be the last person to buy the limited and then... say one month later, the finished mechanical AQ is released with improved battery, internal power cable, and if the price increase wasn't too bad... I should have, could have, would have waited?
  4. I’m probably wrong. But by the time some of us get the limited, the full version might be right around the corner. Let’s say there are ten machines already out there. And if FT currently produces only two per week at the current production rate, it would take another 45 weeks to reach total distribution of the limited.
  5. Real nice ring and all from digging a penny signal! Way to go! A few years back I was in the water and had a scrambled type of signal , all broken up and I almost didn't dig it. It turned out to be a long 18K chain with an 18K gold Poseidon medal. But why the strange signal.... It also had 2 silver charms on each side of the medal. So the machine was reading the gold and silver, hence the erratic signal.
  6. Steve... Knowing how deep some targets can be with the AQ, maybe its time to get a stronger scoop with a pointed nose for digging in those rocks. I have had my share of scoops over the years and am now solely using the Stealth 720i. Very pleased with it and feeling good about the lifetime warranty.
  7. Nice report! Thanks for sharing. It looks like a nice well rounded assortment of targets. And 4 rings is mighty fine!
  8. I’m not disappointed at all. I’m one of those guys who is looking for depth / power in a PI. I’ll dig the trash to find the treasure. I found this ring about a year ago. It is 14K and rang a solid 14 on the Equinox. Identical ID to all the pull tabs I was finding. I was hunting the wet sand just about at high tide line which was littered with pull tabs and bottle caps. Apparently no one was digging them so I figured their might be a ring. Sure enough!
  9. I would rather have a root canal than hunt dry sand. Been there done that, but that's just me. (BTW... never had a root canal, but I've heard stories!!!) I prefer the water and with that at least waist deep. It seems the further you are submerged the less trash and as Joe B has done... if trashy, dig the deep faint targets. It really is all about location. I intend to hunt the East coast of Florida if the AQ ever appears at my door and that will be only the long wet sand slopes. On the Gulf side... the water.
  10. You sure did a lot of digging and by the looks of your finds the "AQ" isn't picking up the tiny bits of foil. I recall an earlier post saying it is designed not to pick up the bits but to concentrate on the ring size objects, and that is a good thing! Good luck with your next hunt and bring on the rings!
  11. Well I live in Florida, 12 minutes from the beach and I’m leaving the porch light lit all night just in case one comes my way.
  12. I am digging just about every thing I can hear in all metal, in the water with my Equinox. When I finally get the AQ I will be doing the same thing but checking it’s many different scenarios. This little open gold ring was found in the water along with the tons of bottle caps that I dug at a small saltwater beach. Apparently other hunters are deterred by the trash. Do I say a few special words every time I dig a bottle cap. Yup. 😆
  13. Nice heavy ring Joe! I know your Excalibur is really hot but is it just custom earphones and a different coil or have some of the electronic components been changed too? Thanks
  14. So now it can be said for sure that the AQ is hitting deeper than other detectors that have been to your hammered location. I have a number of places in mind where I have dug every signal that I could hear and that was with the Infinium. I found a bunch gold rings from a small area used since the 30's and no longer today. A lot of the bottom is covered in leaves and pine needles which I would take a rake and clean off an area and then hunt. I'm excited to spend some time there again with the AQ. These are some of the gold rings I found. The other picture is a mix of "keepers" from a number of days hunting in one location.
  15. Joe... Thanks for the videos. They are certainly icing on the cake of what we have heard about the AQ over the years. And if all you do for awhile is hunt and give a report on the settings and results, I for one sure do appreciate it. Being on the list to receive the AQ I'll take as much information as I can to help optimize my time with it.
  16. I've had the same thing happen to my Equinox when someone with a cell phone would walk past me on the beach. Not all phones made it react like that but a few did.
  17. I'm sticking with my 720i. I like the pointed front for digging in shells or rocks but even that it can be a challenge sometimes. It also has a lifetime warranty along with the carbon fiber handle. I think the most important thing is to KNOW where your target is before digging and not rush into slamming the first scoop. Time used with the same scoop works for me as it is a learning process for the correct angle of digging to secure your target with as few scoops as possible and knowing your machines sounds to help dictate how deep the target is. This is all "in the sand / water" digging of course.
  18. This was a two day hunt a few years ago in the water when a small storm moved just enough sand to make these targets come to light with my PI. They were all about chest deep so fighting the incoming tide made it difficult and finally unable for me to detect. On the third day the depth was reduced to about my waist and only a few coins remained. The fourth day brought nothing. The area containing the targets was rectangular, about 25 by 100 yards long. I dug quite a bit of trash... this was some of it, but would sure like to do it again only deeper. Four gold rings and quite a few silver.
