  1. Thanks for the links. Although the Minelab video looked the most polished of the bunch I thought the Whites vid was the best. And how about that box! Fascinating!!!
  2. Going to be interesting to see the first reviews on this unit! Hopefully we have a contender!!!
  3. Cool thanks for the info! Will be looking at the same set up come spring.
  4. Could you give us a little more info on the Wasabi batteries you're using. How do you hook them up? Did you solder in your own wires and pin adapter. I looked them up and don't see anything Minelab specfic but I am in Canada and and looked at Amazon Canada site maybe different on the American site. What are the specs on the battery? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
  5. I don't understand why Minelab isn't doing this themselves straight out of the factory for the gpx series. The smaller wireless batteries are older technology at this point and wireless headphones are a no brainer!
  6. I wonder if having the battery up the shaft like that means that you will be able to sink it in the water a foot or so without having to use the antenna set up some guys are using for water searching. I really don't know much about the XP been watching from the sidelines. I am just assuming that the little tubular protrusion that you see on the coils is the battery and signal sending unit, so just guessing that part being moved higher into the shaft would allow for some submersion of coil without interference.
  7. Oh I certainly won't let a stand stop me! Nearly end of the season up here in Canada so going to wait for spring anyway. The new coil and update should be available by then and really who knows what other players may release in the next 6 months. There's rumors floating around for numerous companies so could get quite interesting by early spring at least I hope so! Cheers Kale
  8. Keep us informed of your thoughts on the machine please. If the stand is the only thing that's lacking I think I can live with that! Thanks Chuck Kale
  9. Thanks for the reply. Are you in OZ and using the Zed? If so are you bringing the XP along as well and how is it doing with the heavy mineralization there? Do you feel that the XP is a decent partner for the Zed? I realize that these are questions you might not be able to answer but throwing it out there for anyone. I like your wristband idea. Thanks
  10. Thanks for the input guys! I think I will be adding XP to my aresnal in the early spring.
  11. That's cool I did not know that! Thank you that allows a lot more options than I expected were available.
  12. Liking the Xp the more I hear about it. Won't get one until the new coil and update are released but meanwhile was wondering if you can get sound in any way without headphones? Areas where I will be hunting have grizzly, cougar, wolf and the occasional sasquatch! So needless to say it's wise to keep at least 1 ear open but would prefer to set up something like what the minelab guys are using with the external speakers. Anyone using a set up similar to that? If so what are your thoughts on the subject. Thanks
  13. Those rumors are over a year old. I'm beginning to think that rumors are all that they were!
  14. I can see how it would be confusing, most commonwealth countries use the metric system ie Canada, Australia and others. So kilos instead of pounds. When you're talking about a find that big, it's just easier to speak in pounds or kilos. Then no math required to convert to troy. I think everybody gets the jist it's frickin big!!!
  15. Nice nug Idaho! The gold gods were smiling at you! I can't really make out the weight in the picture.
  16. True, we're not that much in disagreement. It's really a lot like it was in North America when the west was wild and I guess we made it out of that ok. I just think it's not 1849 and a government of a country like Peru should be taking better care of business, it's in their best interest to do so. I'm 50 years old and still somewhat naïve I guess. There's the way I think the world should be and then there's the way it really is!
  17. While a lot of what you say is true, we also have laws to keep children and indigenous peoples from being abused. We have laws that restrict unsustainable development. We have laws that keep cartels from stealing our resources. In short we have laws and the firepower to back them up. Try any of those practices in your local national monument and see what happens! I believe that the impoverished people of those countries deserve a piece of the pie just like anyone else but with that way of doing business the pie will only be there for 1 generation to benefit from at best after that only a desolate wasteland leftover.
  18. Agreed take your time and get it right but could you please hurry up! Thanks for all the work you do Steve to make this one of the best sites out there!
  19. That's still a nice looking nug sniper calcite or not! Sounds like that new czx couldn't come soon enough! Those Fisher rumor posts are over a year old at this point in time I would say were not going to see anything new this summer. Hopefully before Christmas so we can get a jump start on next summer!
  20. It would be real nice to see someone come in and shake up the pi market! Minelab pretty much has a stranglehold on that now. Some serious competition would be welcome! Hopefully Fisher isn't the only company that is working on it.
  21. Hi Steve Just wondering if there is any new news on the Fisher rumors that were being talked about 6 months or so ago. I.e. multi frequency units. Pi units, etc. Anyone feel free to chime in.
