  1. I`m chaffing at the bit, the wets back but the 8 days I got out there were a bonus. About Guinea Pigs..... 😉 no great breeder here, by far in my years being an early adopter has been very profitable, so it`s been a case of the early bird gets the worm. Manufacturers have field testers, and I`ve not experienced any problem with a detectors performance yet, thus I take my hat off to those field testers, tis a no-brainer to be an early adopter for me.
  2. You got me Taz, like Steve my review wasn`t a reply to anyone's particular post was rather simply my current review of the E1500. I always jump in and get a new gold detector, some times it works out and they pay for themselves quickly and other times I sell them 2nd hand at a loss. The E1500 is well on its way to staying with the 6K and Z in my armory it has basically replaced the excellent Axiom.
  3. No worries Rick, just to be sure I`m not misunderstood, Nenad corrected our use of the terms auto GB, fixed and tracking in another thread recently. The E1500 has auto GB and fixed but not tracking, same as if you use the Z and GPXs (not 6K) in fixed you press the button/trigger to auto GB when the ground changes.
  4. Righto, I`ve put many hours behind the E1500 got enough weight to stick my neck out a wee bit. With the NF EVO12 round it is dynamite on depth with subgrammers, up there close to the Z with the X 12 spiral in sensitivity and depth. Like the spiral EVOs and Elites did before the 6K GPXs, brought them right up to near GPZ performance. I suspect there will be many who end up being just E1500 users, a spiral 12 round on the 6K might be the only thing that competes close with it overall, taking not just performance but ergonomics and weight with the E1500s massive coil choice availability Of course the user has to be prepared to tweak settings and use a Fixed GB that requires GBing often in noisy ground but that is how most experienced users used the GPXs back to the SDs (not the 6K of coz)
  5. Dunno that one fella has/had a slight resemblance to another fella we know, or is he AWOL still????
  6. All excited/sidetracked with the E1500 I initially missed this thread, the 6K has got a big boost from the aftermarket coils, I`ve been equally amazed with depth I`m getting out of the small coiltek. Vid too.... good stuff. I haven`t used the 6K this year yet... tis bad... no
  7. Two differences in a sensitive PIs that has external coil wiring and Fixed GB shows the power of the SDC with internal secure coil wiring and Tracking GB in the hands of someone who has had for a month and onto gold already, illustrates the power of the SDC and the 6K
  8. Pioneer, wow your prospective, good to read although opposite to mine.
  9. I initially got the Companion 16000mAh Solar/Wireless phone charger but also got a couple of Kings 10000 to try (2 for $50) that cut the weight even more, 1 runs E1500 all-day (old fella 8 hour bludge day) and doesn`t seem unbalanced with the 12"Evo round on. Spare 1 fits in a shirt pocket so probably are a wee shy of 10000aHr, time will tell, but the Companions in the vehicle always.
  10. Yes true rounds for use when you can swing, ellipticals being tops around rocks in creeks or pushing through the long tropical grass after the wet where I prospect, 'linear prospecting' ie. no swinging motion just pushing along the ground through the grass on the ridges, usually following wild horse trails. Just very good to have the E1500 that uses our choice of coils for our ground from a big range made by the aftermarket folks.
  11. Yes 12" round. For patch hunting I prefer round as I believe they give the best depth for weight.
  12. With you 100% even in OZ the Axiom was best price vs performance, I`ll stick my neck out now although it is early days and give that crown to the E1500, something different in its ground balancing capabilities that we haven`t had before in a PI, it handles some of my backyards difficult ground like it is not a sensitive detector but it is a very sensitive detector. What a shame it isn`t married to a 6K, its offspring would than be the bees knees for most of us from newchum to oldchum.
  13. Having a ball with the Evo 12 on the E1500, picks up scraps/dinks/flakes at depth and larger. Tis relatively lightweight being mono, easy to swing, am using it with a lightweight Kings 10000mah battery. There is additional ground noise over the bundle wound Sadie as is expected from a spiral and larger diameter coil but the E1500 with the new firmware has fast/precise as GB. We are spoilt with so many coil options out there to suit so many different grounds and user preferences. Back to the old before coil chips, is really Back to the Future and I`m soaking in it😉
  14. Personally we compare detectors, publicly yes we should avoid comparing but we do. ML probably already have a near auto Z out there in the hands of testers, not to counter the E1500 but because that`s what they do and have done since their inception. Knockers of ML haven`t had their fortunes made by ML detectors or they wouldn`t be knockers. Fortunes not necessarily of monetary value. GC I was generalizing when I posted preconceived, slowly learning not too myself.😉
  15. He Hey I don`t knock the SDC, I really think Phrunt should grab JWs and av a go, find out for himself. Blinkers and preconceived ideas are just not the go in this hobby. The biggest asset to have is positivity and you have it in spades with the the SDC and why not. I`m impressed as with the E1500 and look forward to you giving it a swing, I have reservations it`ll replace the SDC for you but that`s because for me the Z and 6K were the go, my modded SDC was only used by visitors, I preferred the Z than the 6K. But as you know I try em all, coz I can, the E1500 is getting a good work out as the Axiom did.
  16. Wow that is quick, going by his reasons for selling, that isn`t that surprising, the Axiom suffered much the same, seems lots of them were returned with supposed faults but on testing they proved to have no problem. Although the E1500 controls are easy to navigate as are the Axioms, it is not for those that like the SDC and the 6K easy casual user use. Minelab hit on the market very well, with those two detectors.
  17. JWs got a SDC hasn`t he, give it a go, you`ll probably be pleasantly surprised with its performance (not its ergonomics) and be able to reckon how it performs in comparison with the E1500 on your ground.
  18. Yeah maybe should refer to it as fixed or tracking, as auto is like you say opposed to turning knobs.
  19. GC I`ll send my E1500 over coz I think it`s maybe going to put the SDC to bed in your wild ground, send it over when it`s not busy that is..... and like the Axiom with its fixed GB option and other controls it has the 6K beaten in some circumstances and sneaking up on the Z also with a 12 Evo. Mono coils are so much lighter for old codgers, whilst the E1500 is no slouch, just a caution low price may be too good to be maintained once the cost of CP is factored in.
  20. Minelab SDC 2300 Gold Detector - One of a Kind in top working condition. | eBay Will post to a US DP Member. Time for it to go to someone that will use.
  21. Yeah GC, is so for all AutoGB detectors, I used the Z mainly in fixed, the early VLFs AutoGB before the first PIs were bad for it 1600/1700, fortunately they had the fixed option too. Obviously the E1500 designers did not see the need for AutoGB or were legally not allowed to use the better GB tech of late, which along with the rest of the E1500 tells me they were not just tech savvy but also were or listened to very savvy user/users. Its features are about gold even the ID which by working in pinpoint mode seems it may be useful for those who hunt in trashy ground. Just a few early observations to whet appetites.
  22. Exactly Steve, I suspect that is why a lot complained of losing small pieces in the dig with the 6K, you swing it over a weak signal enough times the autoGB will take it out. Fixed option as per the Axiom and the E1500 is the go for most of us. Of course the Axiom gives you further speed options for autoGB which is the bees knees.
  23. Nah, Gerrys done a deal and bought em all for you folks in Upover...... Ah no Gerrys got the axe.....ðŸĪŠ
  24. Its tracking is like Fixed in a lot of MLs Pis, which was the preferred way to run them for a lot of us, auto tracking is good but can result in faint deep lunkers being missed. For convenience if the E1500 had a better located dedicated button to GB as per those MLs be the go for me.
