  1. Simon ... You could have been floating down this river! This guy has quite a YouTube following as well. The secrete is out now that we have posted him here! I Quit My Job to Hunt for Gold. This Is What I've Learned. - Men's Journal (mensjournal.com)
  2. This article makes me wish I lived closer to the gold field up in that area! There's Gold in Them There Hills...or, at Least Across Washington (newstalk870.am)
  3. I saw this after the other comments. Both boys will have a go at this thing. I'll have to plant some and take some pics.
  4. Too late! Google makes it easy now for you to highlight and search without having to copy and paste.
  5. He is 5.5 now and has a circuit board set and loves it. It has snaps so he can change the wiring quickly.
  6. So ... how much money did you save? That means you won't have to find so many nuggets! haha
  7. Ken was at the PCSC meeting and told us about the nuggets found on the road on the Taft claims. I didn't make it out there until Thursday and didn't find anything. I used my 800/6 and walked the road and took pictures and shared them with a couple of members. There is going to be an outing there on Saturday. I probably won't make it. The club with the new claim in Barstow is WSPA. I've been a member for a few years through some ups and downs and there are some good people left just moving along. 8. The postings in this thread are from two, one day trips. I get there about sunrise (5:30) and hunt for about 8 hours. I stay longer with breaks and drive around a bit. The first time I went to the claim I stayed over night. I found 1 nugget the first day and 3 the second day. I went back to one of those second day nuggets and it turned into a patch.
  9. Actually, it is a new club claim. Anyone can join. We're checking out more claims now.
  10. Here are another 11 nuggets that were missed by the detectors of the day 10 years or so ago. Now we are getting the crumbs. I'm glad I can get them with an Sp01 (volume) and the 15 CC X.
  11. I have Spectrum Cable and I can watch most of those shows 'On Demand' for Discovery and I know it gives me Wi-Fi hot spots to my phone without having them provide my cell service. Streaming the shows for free is problematic as I found out trying to get Aussie Gold Hunters. You can also watch Josh on Expedition Unknown, and he was talking about his carrot on one episode and they have multiple detectors but don't identify all of them.
  12. I see there is a Quest TV and new episodes of Aussie Gold Hunters. The first 5 seasons are up but I see the most recent is season 8. Is there another way to get it? Ah ... I found this: Aussie Gold Hunters - streaming tv show online (justwatch.com) Not streaming in the United States for season 8 it says.
  13. This is what they say on their site: Frequently Asked Questions | Knowledge Base | Minelab Metal Detectors It doesn't seem as simple as before! You have to open Excel? I don't have it on this computer.
  14. I use the GPZ GPS. It helps me get back to an area where I have found nuggets and look for a pattern. Yesterday I ran out of storage for Find Points. I used Waypoints for a few nuggets. It has been a few years since I've looked at the software for the 7000. I remember you download the info and then you can delete the points on the 7000. At one point the software was compatible with the 3030 but then it wasn't. It is a sore spot form some of us about Minelab ignoring this helpful feature. What is the quickest way for me to make space on my 7000 and save the Find Points for future reference? I know I won't have all my patches with me on the 7000 but it will be better than losing all the points. Mitchel
  15. Yesterday I spent a day finding small gold because that was all that was left with a few bbs! I saved a bit of time by changing my technique. Rather than trying to get the nugget I detected into a small scoop, I went the other way. You hear a nugget, boot scrape and you still hear it. That is what I want. So then you scrape more or pick at it and get the nugget to move. I isolate the pile with the nugget in it now and then take a BIG scoop of that pile and wave it over the coil. (Before I was taking smaller scoops and it was taking me too long to get it.) The rate I waved it over the coil somewhat controlled if I could hear it. After about 3 scoops if I didn't get it then I detect the remainder of the pile. This speeded up my process except for the bbs and small wires! Now, bring on the big nuggets! haha
  16. Ok, that is small f------ gold. Not the smallest but small. Why do you need to turn the coil up? Just lay it down and wave the scoop over the top. I guess he wants to put all the little nuggets on the smooth bottom? When he does that you can't hear them unless they are moving. Detectors work off of the change in signal and not the constant interruption. If you hold it there it doesn't sound off. It is a good lesson in pinpointing to make your scoop pile. What makes a pinpointer work differently?
  17. Thanks Rick. I found some crumbs and I kept pulling them. I showed a couple of guys with 6000s where they were and what I was doing and they could only pull out 1! This area had some very old dry wash diggings before metal detectors and some very old dig holes that filled in over the years. I think this is why I didn't get any larger nuggets. There was bb trash and a few wires but all the obvious signs I wasn't the first one to detect this patch of desert. I did leave more for others but not much in that 100x100! Mitchel
  18. I got the 15 inch concentric X-coil onto a patch today and 6-7 hours later I had a new personal nugget record at 14 for a day. My previous high was 12. Those were a bit bigger found with the stock 7000 coil. The depths ranged up to 6 inches or so but most of the small ones were easy to hear at 3 inches. The sizes from left to right are .44 (far left), then 2 x .2+, 6 x .1+ and finally 5 nuggets less than .1 g with the small one at .03 grams. It was also a nice sunset.
  19. Does anyone have any experience with the little, old 4WD van? These tiny Japanese pick-up trucks that cost about $5,000 are winning fans in America (msn.com) Do you have any knowledge of the company? 1994 Nissan Homy - Japan Car Direct - JDM Export Import Pros
  20. Thanks for the good report. Any gold from there is good right now.
  21. I can sneeze now with little pain so I'm doing pretty good for 10 days later.
