Seven Silvers And Then Some!
Heavygold4me replied to SwiftSword's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
That’s a dream hunt, I’m lucky to find a couple of silvers a year. -
Been using mine since the end of January. I’m just now comfortable with changing some of the factory settings. It’s been more of a learning curve than I thought it would be as I have both equinox’s. It feels good in my hand and is well balanced. I really like the screen with the ferrous and nonferrous display, plus I’ve had instances where there were two nonferrous targets displayed at the same time. Turns out one was a pull tab and one was a small gold ring, tones were mixed but looking at the display I could see there were two different targets. My only negative comment would be the depth indicator is usually wrong. I primarily salt water beach hunt and and hunt in beach low conductor mode. I get more depth information listening to the strength of the signal than looking at the depth meter.

Any Tips For Rusty Bottle Cap Rejection
Heavygold4me replied to stateguy's topic in Minelab Manticore Forum
I hunt the beach in the LC mode, I find bottle caps have a scratchy sound. If you look at your screen the image looks just like what is referenced in the manual. Aluminum caps to me have a loud hollow sound, but I have dug several aluminum caps. -

My Second Water Hunt With The D2
Heavygold4me replied to NCtoad's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
I like the ring. Win win situation, kids got to swim and you got to hunt. -
Welcome to the forum, you will find a lot of trash. The treasure is there you just need to get your coil over it.

Double Gold With The Manticore
Heavygold4me replied to Heavygold4me's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
When I get tired I dig less targets in the foil range. Probably have missed a few good targets. I primarily hunt wet sand or in the water up to my chest. Some places I hunt there is a lot of foil in the water, in that situation I move to out deeper. I found a 14k pendant the other day and it rang up a solid 6 in the wet. -

3 Rings To Start The Week..
Heavygold4me replied to Erik Oostra's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
That’s a great way to start the week. -
I’ve watched both videos bashing the manticore, while I generally enjoy his videos he’s starting to lose his credibility. I’ve noticed that in the beginning of his videos he’s pushing people to give him likes. Likes increase revenue and having click bait titles increases traffic. my first thought when he was using all terrain was of corse it’s going to miss low number gold, that’s what happens when you notch out low numbers.

Very nice gold ring, it makes it worth digging all the trash

Sorry posted the wrong picture with the clad and being a newbie a can’t edit a post as of yet. But my clad was 4 quarters 5 dimes 2 nickels and 10 pennies -
Four hour beach hunt yesterday netted two pieces of gold. Thursday it was to rough to get into the water so I went back yesterday to much better conditions. Tides were a little high, about half a foot. Went out into the water and was only finding bits of aluminum and some zincons so I decided to hunt the wet. Had a good signal the was jumping from 10 to 12 right at the high tide line, 10k gold class ring. Hunted a little longer and didn’t find anything other than more bits of trash, so I decided to hunt a different beach. Second beach same as the first, lots of small aluminum and some clad. I was about to call it quits when I got a signal jumping from 2 to 4 thinking it was more aluminum I dug it anyway and got the 10k gold earring. the ring weighs 5.87 grams and the earring weighs .63. the class ring had the woman’s full name in it so I did a search and found an email address, hopefully she contacts me back and can identify the ring so I can return it to her. my settings were beach low conductor, sensitivity 23, 5 tones , recovery speed 5 , normal audio.

New Cut Breathes Life Back Into Metal Detecting
Heavygold4me replied to Sirius's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
That’s a lot of coins, the salt water sure turns them crusty. I’ve never found any silver coins that weren’t either black or dark grey at the beach. -
Another Beach Hunt With Silver
Heavygold4me replied to Heavygold4me's topic in Metal Detecting For Jewelry
It’s a small bracelet, it’s brass -
Made it back to the beach this morning. More trash targets than friday but still managed a decent hunt. Best find of the day was a pandora charm that was an eyeball find in the parking lot. Ended up with just over 3 dollars in clad, 4 pieces of junk jewelry and a button.

I purchased one a few years ago, it stopped working after about 6 months. They told me to send it in for warranty repairs but I procrastinated and never sent it in. I made one myself and have been using it ever since. I believe the one I made works better. -
My name is really common, I’ve had police show up at work with warrants, fortunately I wasn’t the person they were looking for. I’m definitely not an engineer by trade, spent most of career as a parts manager at a marine dealership.
