  1. I received my E800 on 1/15/18 but only have a few hours on it. Today I found a ring marked WH 825 (82.5% silver I am presuming). If anyone has any information or seen a similar ring I would appreciate the feedback. I also found 2 quarters, 5 dimes & 14 pennies, all clad. I'm definitely happy so far with the Equinox. I was using Park 1 and all preset settings. I have attached 3 photos of the ring.
  2. I had intended to go to the beach today...easy and relaxing digging is just so irresistible. Last night I had readied the Equinox 800, CTX and beach scoop in my shop in preparation. During the night as I slept voices kept telling me "Screw the stupid beach and take the Equinox to the foot hills and try it out in some real dirt" Gold nuggets and relics were calling for some reason. I didn't expect to find much...mostly lead bullets etc.... maybe a Chinese coin if I was lucky. And to tell the truth I was not in the mood to dig bird shot today so I hunted mostly in field 2 and Park 2 I put the 800 in gold mode 2 for maybe 5 minutes then switched back. First came the Chinese coin...nice to get one intact...I'd dug one in pieces a few minutes earlier. Then I decided to hunt some tailing piles and I was elated to get the powder flask...an hour or so later I was hunting near a creek so I could retrieve an ax head I had dug last year and left it on a fallen tree. A solid 12 on the equinox...at first I thought I had a small gold coin due to the serrated edge... But hey i'll take a gold ring any day. This sucker is old...the Chinese mined this place and I have yet to find any silver coins here. There are gold nuggets few and far between plus the place is riddled with lead shot of all shapes and sizes. Grass was tall which made for challenging hunting. The ring came from the other side of the creek near the tree in the middle. Good luck and HH! Park 2, Auto GB, Sens 22, reactivity 6, iron bias 0 I had to auto GB often due to soil. Pic with the Sierra is a toast to the old timer before I covered the hole strick
  3. I went out this morning to a beach that I call zinc beach because that's what I generally find there. Today was a minus tide and I got up early to try it one more time. I'm glad I did! The beach has high sand and a sharp slope about 25-30 feet to a mucky bottom at low tide. Right where the slope stops I have found some clad coins, a wheat penny that looked brand new and some aluminum bits. Farther out on the flat muck I probably dug 10-15 zincs in the couple times I had been there before. Today I walked out right where I had found some coins before and was heading right to the edge of the water. First target was a 1950 wheat that looked like it fell yesterday. The second target got my heart going! I saw a copper/gold colored edge and I thought it was another penny that rang low, I can't remember for sure what it rang up as but I think it was 10/11. I picked it up and realized it was a ring and right away started looking for marks. 18k and a C with a diamond above it as a makers mark! Awesome! I made my way to the edge of the water and walked back and fourth along the edge of the water moving back up towards the slope in a crescent shape (the water was higher on one side and I stayed right on the edge). I got a couple coins, another wheat and I dug some small trash. On one of the passes heading back down the side I got a 31 and thought it might be a quarter or a silver quarter. I was surprised when I saw the spoon and immediately rubbed the muck off the spine to see if it said sterling and sure enough! It came out bent like that, I wonder if someone was using it for something other than eating! My alarm went off for 7am and I started making my way back and got a quarter right near the hole I dug the ring from and thought to myself let me check around here a little more because I've found some heavy things right around this area. The next target I think was a 14 (I was hunting by sound more than by VDI numbers) and I dug a hole and checked the sand and muck I pulled out...nothing. Then I looked back down in the hole and saw it sitting there, another ring! Gold with a red/dark pink stone. It is cracked at the bottom and not a closed loop but still rang up pretty solid. I checked for a mark in this ring and all I saw was was looked like a weird sideways 8 and a K. I came to work (conveniently right down the street) and I washed it off and I saw the mark is a diagonal anchor with a K. I knew then it must be an old ring but my question to you all is how old and where could it be from? I'm thinking England. My town was settled in 1639, could it be from the 16-1800's? What about the C makers mark on the other ring? Any ideas?
  4. It’s been a struggle to get out and hunt lately as I edge closer to my 2nd hip replacement but I got to run my 600 on a small beach north of Ventura this morning that I’ve always wanted to hit. It’s a small beach but gets lots of use as a day camp area on the Rincon. The dry sand produced over 30 bottle caps and there is no question what is when you hear it. I only dug them so I could clean out the area when I return. The wet sand was pretty quiet but I netted the two rings in it. The turquoise/silver was a consistent 23 and the junk ring rang at 13-14 I thought I had white gold when I saw it in the scoop. I hope to get out one more time between now and next Friday as that is surgery day. Getting older sure does put a crimp in the lifestyle ?
  5. This is not the first success this person has had with Nox on the beach. http://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=258408
  6. 'Day to the Clan.. Solid 12/13 VDI about 6" deep & underwater...
  7. I really hadn’t got a chance to use my new EQ much as I’ve been doing some spring construction at the house. So yesterday, I took it out to the backyard where the Gardner removed some bushes and plants in the garden/flower beds and tried the new Equinox out. After all of one minute, I got a repeatable signal and numbers and thought it might be a coin. When I dug it up, it looked like an aluminum twist cap with a gold foil wrapped around it. On closer inspection I was floored with what I was holding in my hand. My gold wedding band that I lost over two years ago while in the garden. This last time was the third time it was lost (loose fit) and not being able to find it with the detectors I had then, I’d given up. I never did replace that lost ring with a gold band but instead purchased a gold plated stainless steel one to wear while I saved up for a nice wedding band. Finding that band goes a long way in offsetting the cost of the 800. Very Happy!
  8. Hi all, dropped my daughter off at her part-time job this morning then went for a short hunt at a nearby beach with my new partner's son. As with a lot of beaches around, it was a bit sanded in so wasn't expecting much.. A couple of low areas only produced ring pulls and other light trash so I moved over to some exposed rocks and got a diggable signal...I couldn't believe it when this showed up in the scoop. At first I thought it was junk as it had that 'plastic' gold look to it. My eyes aren't the best without glasses, so when we got back to the fourby I used the magnifier on my phone....and there they were. Two stamps....AJD (American Jewellery Design I think), and 916. First gold ring for the Equinox is 22k....wooohooo! It's been so long since I found gold....can't get the smile off my face ?. (Oh yeah, the men's silver ring was found a few minutes later).
  9. Been super busy at work recently so my hunt time is basically down to 0 these days. I am currently in a rental house (long story about floods goes here :-) ) and I had not hit the backyard yet. Had a 30 minute break between meetings (I work at home) and decided to try out the backyard for a bit. 1st target was a penny then the next target was this nice .925 silver ring! First silver with the EQ, rang up just like a dime at 27.
  10. Cabin fever forced me out to south facing park hill today. Could not believe how chattery the 600 Nox was. After finding lots of aluminum fence parts and rusted crown caps, came upon a smooth 4ish surface target. It popped right out of the ground with the tip of my digger.
  11. This is a find (not a crime) of opportunity! Today I got a late start at the beach because of a number of chores but I wanted to make an appearance to see what the wind driven waves had done. I got there on an incoming tide about 2 hours after low tide. It has been a while since we have had conditions like these so better late than never. My previous hunt I had used a new pair of headphones but I felt more confident with the supplied phones so off I went. The last time out I had cleared my settings with the factory specs so now I was setting up Beach 1. That was very little change. Noise cancel, ground balance and check the sensitivity. Part of the beach had a cut and I was in the middle of that area. Many people were out even tho cool and in some wind. I headed for the waterline and pebbles and could tell the waves had not scoured out as much as I liked. I was getting a lot of nothing again but I could hear pretty good in all metal. My first hit was a corroded penny but you gotta dig. I think the next hit was the same 20-21 that a penny gets you. Now I had to make a choice. This is a beach I know well so I headed in a direction to the north where I have found rings in the past. After about 50 yards I decided to head south. (I was reminded by that feeling of a change when I had been hunting for sharks teeth in Venice, Florida in 1978. One morning I went to the right, felt I needed to go back to the left and in less than 100 feet I found a nearly perfect tooth about 4 inches long. It was my best find.) So, this time I went past where I had found the pennies and just behind a little girl standing in the shallow waves and I heard a 13/14. I know what 15s are in this area, nickels. There was no bottle cap chatter. I didn't have time to pump up and down on the target because waves were coming. I gave a scoop and missed the target so I went after it again. I could feel something on the edge of the scoop so I softened my dig in case I would 'hurt' the target. When the wave went out I flipped my scoop and I got a glimmer. I knew it was a chain but didn't know if it was stainless or what. With people around I reached down and picked up the object with some sand and stuck it in my pouch. I didn't need extra eyes at that point. There was time to check the area a bit before moving on, and on and on without many targets. On my way to another beach I rinsed off the chain and felt the weight and I was hopeful. This would be my best gold chain. My wife found a nice gold chain in 2015 so it was my time? I returned a half mile to where I found it and there were very few targets. Time to go back and get my glasses and see if it was real. When I got to the car and I got my glasses on I could see 14k ... yessss! This along with the other couple of gold rings would pay off my wife's 800! It was time to have a little fun. I put it around my son's neck and brought him in to Lu fixing dinner. She likes gold so it didn't take her very long to see it. haha We took a couple of photos with the king of the household and then I measured and weighed what I had found. It is 14k/20in/19.1g. It is my best gold chain to date. It could have been found with other detectors but maybe I wouldn't have been in that part of the surf with my 3030. Maybe another detector would be heavier and not as much fun as the 800 right now and I certainly would not walk out where I was with a wired headphone. The conditions were right. Wind waves are good for chains.

  13. I got a chance to go out to the beach this morning. We have kind of a middle/ebb tide going on now and then one really low tide so I went to the wet sand where it peaked last night. There was very little there and deeper than I suspected. I tried my normal spots and then worked my way toward another stretch of beach. I noticed that the sounds were 'small' in Beach 1 so I decided to go All Metal. Shortly after I heard a small sound and started digging. It came in at 4-5 and was louder it seemed because I now had the iron turned on too. I got down about 10 inches and it was out of the hole. It then gave the Geiger Counter type of sound(quick little bursts) and I could see it. It only weighs 1.8g but it is a ring. The other objects didn't really seem that large either. The circuit board (which I dig many) didn't give a size of mass. The sunglasses were the deepest thing I've dug with the 800 at about 14-15 inches so I'm impressed by this but surprised by the small initial target sounds on most everything. The tiny little chain 'sounded' and I think I might have cut it up with my scoop. Mitchel
  14. Solid white gold ring 18k found in 2 foot of water today a bit before low tide near a local jetty. Has Birmingham UK hallmarks, 7.4 grams. Rang a stable, loud and clear 17 DIG ME ... in Beach 2, sens 20, GB Tracking. Also found a few coins.
  15. Out today on this holy weekend I found Jesus about 4 inches in the sod at a local park. I also found a small heart pendant and a wedding band from some guy named Carbide. So if you know someone by the name of Tungsten Carbide, please tell them I have their ring. Wow does Park 2 find small jewelry and aluminum trash nicely. Bill
  16. Might as well hunt while I'm waiting for the Equinox. Some 10K and some 925. Why is it most of the good 925 chains I find say made in Italy? The wife is claiming the nice women's silver braided necklace and the gold bracelet lol. Almost threw away the little pendent thought it was junk weight less then a gram.... strick
  17. I recently found a class ring from the local high school. Wanting to return it I called the administration office and asked if they could help me identify this person so I could return the ring. Sorry the nice lady said, because of the Privacy Act we can't give out any information on our students. Catch 22. So, I asked the lady if she would find out the identity of this student and try to return it? She said yes. I dropped off the ring and she took my name and phone number and said she would call if successful. In the past I have been successful in returning 2 rings, 1 bracelet and 2 wallets. That's not a bad record.
  18. It has certainly been a while since I've had a ring and yesterday I got 3! As it turns out they are not that great but it means that the energy is back in the waves. The pan has water moving in it again. Get back out there fellas and gals if you are on the West Coast. The first ring was the titanium. It was just a low, low piece of aluminum sound in the sand where 3 hours before it was high tide with some larger waves of long interval. This set me to a grid pattern where I found some tarnished clad and eventually about 30 feet away another ring. It was so clean I thought it was gold. I was in one of those places with people around you put it in the pouch quickly. Same sound but in the gold range. (I think now it is not gold because it is so light and there is no mark but it feels like white gold.) It was getting late and I needed to walk a mile to get to my car so I swung on the 'line in the sand' that was holding targets and just before I got done back at my starting spot I hit the silver. It is about 7 grams so it give that great high sound on the CTX. I was doing a bit of 'don't dig the pennies' sort of hunt to save my back but I still ended up with $5 in change and a funky little brass/string bracelet. Three hours well spent. Mitchel
  19. Because instead of 3 rings I got one. It's titanium. I was out at the beach this afternoon to hunt the squeaker low tide (-.05) and to see how the swell had affected the sand movement. Finally a cut has started to form and sand is headed back out to sea. My third signal on the Excal II and you could immediately tell it wasn't a coin. Bingo its a ringo. I wish it was gold but any ring is fun to find so i'll take it. In other news it sure seems like someone is seeding the beach with zincs. I dug many nearly new zincs today and only a few aluminum balls. Usually this beach will give me 25-30 aluminum balls of crap per couple of hours of work and I dug only 4 today. I did dig a quarter at nearly 18" on the excal which is pretty deep for what we do here. Since I got the ring early on all I could think about was matching Mitchel. Instead I harvested zincs all afternoon. By the way the waves were big today and the tide was sneaky. I got a little wetter than I had planned today. Dave (Skate)
  20. Late last summer I took my new Gold Racer to the park along with a conventional detector. I swung both, one in each hand. At one point I got a strong signal on the GR but nothing on the other detector. I dug it and found a one carat cubic zirconia on a silver tie tack. I took it home, and just before I left for my winter home in Mexico, I put it under the GR for an air test. It came up a unshakable ID50. Now ID50 is about what I would expect for platinum. I was way too busy to pursue it further at that time. Now all winter long I'm going to wonder: Why would anyone mount a cubic zirconia on a platinum setting.
  21. I'm going to brag a little, as my staff at Gerry's Detectors Rocks in the DIAMONDS again. Ryan Jamison is not only my Video Editing Guru but an experienced Professional Dive Recovery Expert. His Find, Recovery and Return won the Best of Month and Best of Show. Not sure how to pull it direct from Minelabs site, but hope this shows the video, as it is cool. https://www.minelab.com/go-minelabbing/success-stories/-50-000-diamond-ring-recovered-from-the-bottom-of-the-lake-
  22. It was one year ago to the day on Christmas eve morning when I found one of my favorite gold rings at a local park/soccer/baseball field. Being somewhat superstitious I could not let the day go past without trying agin so this past Christmas eve I once again hit the park early in the morning. I've hunted this park many times and have cleaned most of the good targets so I'm down to digging almost everything that is not iron. This find is a good example of why you really should dig everything...I had the CTX in wide open screen and could barely hear this target in the 12.03 range. Target trace was weak and I almost passed it up because 99.9% of the time, a target in this range, that acts that way with target trace on is either "can slaw" or a thin piece of foil... But this time it was a nice 14K gold grill...my second that I've found. It's right at 8 grams. After I got it out of the ground I started passing it over the coil to see how it hit and depending on which way you were holding it would change the signal strength. It has a complex shape to it which also complicates the signal strength. I think it must have been upright when I found it about 4-5 inches deep in the turf. Anyway thanks for looking fellas and here are a couple pics of the ring along with the grill as well as some other jewerly finds from this past Fall/Winter. strick
  23. I found this a little while back with the Omega 8500. I don't use the Omega very much but I had it out standing behind the door for some other activity and it was the one I grabbed when I headed out the door. Not very big, only 4.05 grams of 18k gold. Took the picture with my Fire tablet so the detail isn't the best but hey, we all like looking a gold even if the detail is a little fuzzy. HH Mike
  24. Finds first: So back at the end of June I scouted a new park and potential jewelry patch but due to oppressive heat and drought conditions in July and most of August I've only been back three times since then. In addition to climate, my detecting time has severely been cut because jiu jitsu takes over our family life 4 nights a week as my kids and wife found themselves addicted to the dojo and choking people. I'm a bad influence, I guess. Two weeks ago (my last real 6 hour detecting session) I ran into another detectorist at this park working his Ace around the same goal net I worked back in June. Soon we were chatting and then kinda hunting together as he sort of followed me around, which was slightly annoying when I'm used to being alone, but that's me, not him really. Anyway, while we were hitting various spots around the park I picked up a small 10k ring at the edge of one playground. 4th hunt here and gold! 1.4 grams 10kt (unknown triangle mark) We finally got more rain and I went back to this patch a few days ago. I went to one of the softball backstops the other detectorist and I hunted around a few weeks back. I was mindlessly pulling square tabs three feet from the backstop fence, trying to reduce the trash load, when to my surprise gold #2 appeared - 7.4 grams 14kt FG mens band! Boom! 1 hour 45min into the hunt. Same tone as the older style square pull tabs and just about into bottlecap range. In fact, I dug a few square tabs that while on the surface sound and VDI the same as the ring. That's without headphones and using the module's external speaker, btw. After 5 hunts of maybe 35 hours I am pleased with the new patch so far. Almost two dozen junk jewelry, over $25 - 30 in change and one silver ring, one silver dove pin (no picture) and two gold rings. Both rings taken with Deus 4.0 11" coil, full tones, 0 discrimination, 0 notch 18khz. Thanks for peeking and good hunting to you.
