A Most Unusual Ring!

My last few hunts at the beach have yielded very few objects of value.  That includes coins and jewelry.  Some days or weeks are just that way in this endeavor.

The last hunt I went on was just the same as the previous 4-5 hunts.  Just a smattering of coins and lots of odd trash.  Here is the result.

As you can tell it is a very stingy beach.

Then I got back to my car and I noticed something UNDER THE CAR ON THE ASPHALT!

I said, no that can't be a ring.  I would have noticed it when I parked there.  I had to use my scoop but sure enough, it is a Brass Ring.  Go figure.  It weighs 3.8 grams.

Treasure is where you find it and if I had not gone out detecting I wouldn't have found it.  It may be the most unusual ring I've ever found.

That looks like a rough hunt there with all those zinc pennies but conditions look more promising this week. It's funny how many eyeball finds us detectorists make. We seem to see a lot of things that other people just walk over.

Grandfather found a ring like that once before, and it had no markings on it. He had done a test on it and found that it was really 10k gold.

Have you tested it yet, as you might be in the same boat as grandfather was.

He swore that it was brass until it was tested.

Good luck on your next hunt.

Jewelry stores love a mystery I've found, they have great gold testers and can verify (usually for free) in a very short time. I dug an unmarked ring on a hill a long time ago, and self tested it as 10k. Could have been dropped from a towel. Nice sight find. 👍

Congrats, mn90403, you got the brass ring! 😉 And it was just waiting for you to come back and pick it up, very unusual ring indeed. A ring is a ring and a find is a find, well done!
