Elderberries & Gooseberries

Not prospecting related. But when out detecting this time of year, I always take a bucket, gloves and clippers.  I bring as many home as possible to ensure my  wife will make some great jellies to last until next year.

 There are a lot of choke cherries out there also, they say they make good wine!

Beware! Sourdough Scott is like an old sow bear. When he starts gathering an extra large amount of berries it means a hard cold winter.

Choke cherries make great syrup...it must take a ton of sugar to sweeten them up.

Klunker, I think your on to something there. Lots of berries,  pinecones, yellow jackets. Might be a heavy winter. Got down to 34° last night.

Elder berries makes the best wine and brandy. ill be gathering mine up in a couple weeks. Just have to fight off a few bears.

I like Goose berry jam so much I planted them in my yard, the Elder berries grow wild along the creek behind my house. Elder berry pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream....yummy
