Popular Post Erik Oostra
I've had a love/hate relationship with the Deus II ever since I've had it.. That's mainly because I keep comparing it to the Equinox 800.. But a few recent finds have changed my mind (again).. I've been hunting a few creeks below where some of the island's oldest dwellings once stood.. I've found some old silver coins (1880s) there before but this time I'm on the lookout for ever-elusive gold sovereigns, which I've convinced myself must be there somewhere.. I usually run my little 10x5 Coiltek there using 'Gold 1' mode on the Equinox but for the last few trips I've been using the Deus II in 'General' program with an 11'' coil.. I've found that for the Deus II this program/coil combination works great at this spot, well away from the saltwater coast yet not far enough inland to suffer the high mineralization of the volcanic hills.. Those early settlers inadvertently chose a great spot for metal detecting.. Anyway, a very faint but unwavering signal (72) on the Deus II caught my attention at a spot that I'd been over a few times with the Equinox.. A dig amongst some tree roots revealed this ruby beauty! It's a tiny ear stud.. I think it's from the same time period as the silver coins I've found there, but I'm not sure.. It looks old.. Finding this little ruby ear stud has forever restored my faith in the Deus II.. Probably to my detriment, I keep forgetting how good the thing is (even in its 'General' program).. I'm in love again.. 30

TampaBayBrad
So you CAN teach an old dog new tricks? Nice find and it looks old to me, too.
RickUK
I am the opposite as i have a love/hate relationship with my Nox,although i have had my Nox for over 4 years and fully accustom with all the settings etc,i still cannot Gel with it,my favourite coil is the Coiltek 10x5,but what swings the Deus totally as my favourite is the lack of weight,as a result of seriously damaging both wrist after coming off a bike at high speed,my wrist just dont allow me the ability to swing anything heavier than a Deus for any length of time,i even use a harness with the 9'' Coil. Was out yesterday on a Pasture site here in the UK and truly enjoyed using the D2,at least i can still continue detecting.
Popular Post F350Platinum
For me the Equinox 600 was great, but after using the Deus 2 in all of the same situations, I'm finding that the controls were too limited on the Equinox, and the ergonomics and weight were too much for the length of time I am detecting per day/week, despite the excellent shaft I got for it from Steve G. I can't be more pleased with the way I can change coils, switch headphones and pinpointers, the overall ergonomics of every shaft I have including the Steve G carbon fiber rig - I have all of them. The new charging cable far exceeds the old one in ease of charging. I don't even mind the antenna, I have a fully dedicated rig for it. Set yourself up right, and you can't go wrong. 😏 Heck I was even finally able to get a 🤬 T-shirt, they just became available in the USA 🤣 Great quality fanboy material. 🤔Thought it was quick dry at first, but it's high grade cotton. For long and varied detecting sessions, and even the short ones, I find it unbeatable and certainly have the stuff to show for it 🙄 Glad you're back on the dark side, Erik. 🖤 🍀
Valens Legacy
Nice find and great save on the post, but you missed the back to it so now you have to go and find it. Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.

DWerk
Real nice older find. Looks to be older as you say, I found an older ruby ring of the same style setting with a lot of intricate gold filigree with the design you have there. The Deus 2 is a true beast on the small targets.

She also said the setting was an older style but she was unable to accurately date it..
