  1. IMPORTANT UPDATE - Coiltek NOX COILSSince we launched the new NOX coils just 4 weeks ago on the 3rd of March 2021, we have received 1000’s of orders for the product, and these orders are continuing to grow each day. We have never before experience such demand for a Coiltek product. We are naturally delighted to have such a positive response to the NOX product and we are grateful for your support. However, due to this unprecedented worldwide demand and the various impacts of COVID-19, deliveries are taking longer than usual. Be assured, our worldwide distributors and dealers are doing the best they can and we are keeping in close contact with them. They are being updated regularly on availability and stock quantities. We at Coiltek have a great production team and we are working around the clock to supply. Our commitment to quality and providing you with the best product possible is and will continue to be at the forefront. Current delays can be up to 6-8 weeks. The best way to purchase a NOX coil is to contact your local Coiltek dealer and place an order. Again, thank you for your support and patience, we sincerely apologise for these delays. New Coil For Minelab Equinox from Coiltek
  2. The TDI is easily bested by numerous PI models on the market, so there is no way it is an unbeatable machine. It's a relatively ancient design, barely changed from the Eric Foster Goldscan from which it derives. Gold prospectors the world over would all be using a TDI were that true, and it simply is not. I respect the TDI a lot, as I was involved in getting it to market, but making claims it can't possibly match does nobody any good.
  3. Minelab says the GPZ 7000 is still top dog, and you are just the guy to prove it Jason! I'll trust Minelab on that one. If they were selling this as a $10K GPZ replacement, I can see the need to prove this is true. But if Minelab is not making that claim. All they've done is say the 6000 will hit smaller gold than a stock GPZ. We know now an X Coil can make a GPZ hit small gold it otherwise misses, so that is obviously possible. But my Equinox also hits smaller gold than a GPZ 7000, so it's really not saying much. Now if your goal is to prove that the 6000 blows away the GPZ even if Minelab is not claiming that.... good luck!
  4. You are new here Sheppo, so trust me, what you are seeing is classic Herschbach sarcasm!
  5. You forgot to sign up as a Detexpert JP! Only genuine Minelab Detexperts know anything about Minelab detectors and how they operate. I've reviewed the Detexpert page, and neither of us is listed there, so we are Detecdummies! Being as you are a Detecdummy, my advice is just stay quiet and wait for more information from the Detexperts. If you learn enough, perhaps you can be accepted into the exalted ranks. I know I'm not smart enough to make the cut, but there may be hope for you! Don't know. Minelabs already said the GPZ remains the flagship, so I will leave any battles over which is better, GPX or GPZ, to those who want to argue over what Minelab has already acknowledged. My party line for ages has been to not buy any new detector until it has been in the publics hands for at least six months. For anyone with the slightest doubts, that is still my recommendation. Just wait. The good news for me is it is now above freezing overnight, ground thawing fast if not already, detecting just around the corner for me!
  6. I assume you like to see other people reports on detectors. If everyone was like that, there would be no forum!!!
  7. Seems like you get lots of detectors, but rarely report about using them. Be nice to hear what you think of the MDT once you get in some hours. Congrats on the new purchase, and hope it cures your rash!
  8. Garrett Pro-Pointer AT and Fisher F-Pulse for me. This subject has been covered extensively in previous threads - check them out.
  9. Nobody believes them anyway, just like nobody believes official testers. Just wait for them to get into end users hands, add a month for time to get valid comparative info, and you are good to go.... or not. You guys all think it's Minelab being just so horrible. Anyone follow the Fisher Impulse AQ saga? I think half the time people think Minelab is so bad simply from not having dealt with the other people enough. No matter how much this seems like a clown show, Fisher wins the crown on this one. That was the craziest metal detector thing I've been involved in yet, and I've been involved with a few. This video was not much, but I do think it was Debbie on her own. The official videos have now been posted, and are far more professional.
  10. Looks less like an official Minelab video, and more like Debbie doing a favored person - a favor. Too bad Rob or Doc or Bill or Gerry do not rate.

  13. The black and white decals are newer is all, the gold scheme being used for ages before the change.
  14. I figured I needed a smaller coil for the Apex, so ordered and it just showed up. Ground is thawing so should be able to use very soon. I like this detector and this coil makes it a real featherweight. 2 lbs 7.7 oz or 2.48 lbs with scuff cover. I like small coils and this is a sweetie, well made, and nice to buy a coil and a cover for reasonable price for once, $119 plus $10 for scuff cover. 15. Interesting shot of GPX14 DD coil from the bottom. Never seen a coil with a solid top but hollowed out underside. They were cutting weight to the max. In theory, ditch the scuff cover, cut the excess top out, and have a lighter, open spoke coil. Other than that, I actually got more out of the African videos. Very little new being said here. 16. Aimed more towards your ear, unlike the SDC 2300 speaker, which aims directly away from a right handed operator.
  17. Looks good Taras. Welcome to the forum, and thanks for letting us know your option is available again.
  18. I think it was the Russians, cutting chips out of coils to make adapters. So you sacrifice a coil to get a coil. There was discussion in this forum, but it got lost when I deleted the member that started the thread. I’m sure somebody still has links to them.
  19. When you are pushing the edge, that’s the trade you make, and probably where Equinox gets its particular edge. It’s hard to get the best performance while also being stable. The Apex is priced such that stability makes sense, as it is more likely to hit first time users. The Equinox chirpiness puts some people off, but learning to ride the edge with a little noise is where I get what advantage I might have when it comes to detecting. Apex is a trained horse, where Equinox is more bucking bronco.
  20. I agree. There are a couple rods better than the Apex rod. Maybe 100 that are worse. You are not saying the Apex rod is bad, just not as good as the best of the best. I’m certain most people used to most other detectors would find the Apex rod to be in the upper tiers. How’s that sound? I think we both in general like the Apex, so that’s three people anyway (counting Monte).
  21. This is where having a relationship with a good dealer pays off. Weird. I pounded the table for this 5x10 coil from day one, but I guess when I gave up a year ago, after waiting over two years, I really just gave up. I might end up with one someday, but after three years, I find I don’t care that much any more. In sales it’s important for manufacturers to be there when the customers wants them. Timing. For coils, Minelab, and I, timing has been a miss more often than not as of late. I sold my GPZ 7000 due to lack of coils, and these coils I did without long enough that I can probably continue to do so. If there is one area Minelab is really irritating it’s best customers, it’s coils.
  22. I'm checking the model out, but have done little detecting over the winter, so still on it. Mostly evaluating for general park use, plus odds and ends. I'll write something up one of these days now that it's warming up and I can get out again, but want to get more hours in first. The control box is ruining larger, boxier models for me, that's for sure!
  23. It’s just a pile of rocks. Might be something interesting there, but seriously, you need to join the local rock club, and haul the box in for people to look over. Here we might help you with a rock or two, but not in wholesale quantities. Please limit yourself to a few photos per post. I deleted around 20 extras between the last two posts. You are basically spamming the forum with excessive photos, so please pick the two or three that best get the job done, and leave the rest behind. Thanks.
