  1. I knew the tides were wrong but I went to take a look anyway ..... Well just wasn't meant to be. The tides were just too high to be able to do any sand sifting, can't pull the cart full of black sand over those cobbles..... Next weekend the tides will be perfect, just hope the black sands are still concentrated ....
  2. I don't exactly recall where I came across this site but here it is.... hope you find it useful. With my memory I probably found it at this forum and this will be redundant......... Oh well... E for effort. https://thediggings.com/
  3. Here is a very nice little cleanup sluice.... I would change the water supply to the sluice surface but that easily done... Watch and get some ideas of your own from it.
  4. I know this is a fairly old thread but thought I would add this to it and bring it back up. You would be amazed at what you can do with a gold pan..... Here is a link to a thread I posted on treasure net. The Art of Gold Panning. The series is done by Mike Pung. There is also a couple from Doc at Gold Hog. http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/panning-gold/459664-art-gold-panning.html
  5. That really sucks..... Hope you can recover them and dig a big enough hole to stuff the thieves into.....
  6. I like my V3i ... the wife uses the MXT and I have an Eagle Spectrum with a bigfoot coil I get out once in a while.
  7. Good job on the article, very well done thank you for your time, and willingness to share your knowledge.
  8. Here's a short vid of the cleanup sluice.... I just set it inside the big beach sluice for now and run it. I am putting together a a self contained system for it now so i can just run it with out all the other gear being setup. The beach sluice I use is a magnetic sluice design by CleanGold. This setup is 16" wide and 6' long.... the top slick plate is 16x24 followed by a 16"x24" sawtooth mat followed by the 16"x 24" CleanGold magnetic section.....
  9. Here is a little cleanup sluice I put together to help clean up the sluice cons...... And yes that's gold in those little riffles....
  10. Steve, If you ever get out my way here in Oregon be sure to let me know and we can go move some sand.... I'm sure it will cure your curiosity.....
  11. This may be of some help to you.... at least it is a good stating point. Geologic Maps of the US
  12. Yup.... Don't need to repeat the MX Sport fiasco. Don't worry though I'm still with ya...... but like I said I might have to cross lines just long enough for that Z-Lynk .... My wife would really like the wireless, she is very envious of that feature with the V3i but she doesn't want a V... says it is too complicated for her and she loves the MXT.... Most of the time she beats me in the coins... but I smoke her when it comes to the jewelry..... Of course she gets her pick anyway....
  13. Wow.... them's some ambitious feller's ... The leg injury sucks... Really dips into the profits from all that hard work.
  14. Looks like a great pan to be sure.... I like the large bottom area really helps in cleanup. The drop bottom is great also, far prefer that over the smooth transitioned bottoms.
  15. I have been to the factory in Sweet Home many times. Great People there and great service. I may have to go back up for a tour just to see if I can sneak a peak into the secret vault......
  16. I have a couple of these..... They are fantastic for production panning, and even work pretty darn well for cleanup though I have a special cleanup pan.
  17. That was all pretty much -150 mesh. Our beach gold is usually -100 but things were different that day. As to fine gold recovery it is very equipment specific and technique specific as well.... But your right as nice as the nuggets are fine gold is far more abundant... Just got to get into the area and have the technique and equipment to deal with it.
  18. Got out a little about 4 weeks ago and made gas money...lol.... That small amount was recovered from about 4, 5 gal buckets full of beach sand. Other than that not much to report. Not much to report since the snow. Conditions are still less than favorable and the beach deposits haven't really formed yet. Last time I went there wasn't even any surface black sands and no layers to speak of even 2 feet down. Will go take a look again this coming weekend most likely.
  19. Jim Hemingway over at Treasure net from Ontario detects the silver region and has some incredible finds. Steve, I believe you have posted on some of his threads.
  20. Yup.... a human condition, "The Grass is Always Greener" syndrome. Sounds like your machine is operating at peak efficiency, keep it and happy hunting.
  21. Wow.... we can only dream of being able to beach mine like that. On a side note I won't be going to the beach today or tomorrow .....
  22. I will either wait for White's to come out with one for my MXT or if they are too slow about it I will get the Garrett for $128.00 No rush since I use my V3i mostly now. Those prices are out of line....... But thats just me.
