  1. My concern would be that I would hope the new distributor is not selling counterfeit knockoffs..........
  2. I realize this thread is about a year old but I'm gonna add my 2dwt. anyway. If black sand is an issue I would change out the riffles for gold hog mats. Check their site for suggestions
  3. I have thought about that and I contacted the head of the southern Oregon coast region ... He seemed to think it was OK since it is hand powered. Problem is I need about 1100 GPH minimum to run the material through the sluice efficiently. I guess I could have a reservoir but that seems a little impractical due to the size and mounting required to make it work.
  4. Do I understand this correctly... The Impact will operate on 3 frequencies but only 1 frequency at a time unlike the V3i which will operate all 3 simultaneously.
  5. After last Friday today was a bit of a let down with only 1 grain.... The sand looked good but the freshet just wasn't up to it and ground sluicing is not the most efficient method to work.. But it's what we got in oregon since we can't run any power on the beach.... Not even an electric bilge pump recirculator unless we are above the grass line aka mean high tide line.and that just isn't practical o this beach. I would have been better off to have hauled the sand in my gorilla cart and setup the sluice in the creek 100 yards away.
  6. Thank's Steve. It will never replace my day job but at least it gets me out and moving about and I usually at least make gas money...
  7. We got nearly 7" of rain last night here on the Oregon coast.......... So guess what? I will be heading back to my little beach tomorrow and setting up in that freshet again, it should be running strong and the weather tomorrow is supposed to be halfway decent to boot. I will actually try to get some good pics and maybe even some video. So we shall see what tomorrow brings.
  8. Beautiful specimens. Those should bring you much better than spot.... Way to go...
  9. Yup.... No doubt about it. This is a great forum and well put together. I find it very user friendly. Thank you for all your hard work Steve.
  10. Well here it is... The moment I know you have all been waiting for..... Cleanup and weigh in of Fridays take.I got the magnetics out of it but there is still a little junk in it, I figure about a grains worth of non-gold.... So we will call it approx. 5 grains +/- a little. Not bad for letting ma nature do most of the work....
  11. OK... Yesterdays little adventure .... We set the sluice up in a freshet that was running out from under the cobbles that are awash during high tide.... There was good black sand visible in the freshet so we figured why not let ma nature do some work for us...LOL Here is a very quick shake out pan to see what might be..... I will finish the cleanup sometime today and post those pics later.
  12. Well the bucket of material I hauled back last time was a real disappointment. I will hit the beach this weekend anyway weather permitting to see what I can find... I know...... I will never make any money doing this but it gets me off the couch and is interesting to me none the less, and it is the closest gold I have available, so what the heck. I can think of much worse ways to spend an afternoon.
  13. Thank's Steve. Not sure what the geologic history is. But...... There are ancient beaches several hundred feet above current sea level. This layer appears to have been river bed in the distant past then covered with beach that has been raised. I have wondered what the last cascadia event was like along this stretch of the coast. The last event was according to scientists in 1700. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1700_Cascadia_earthquake
  14. Went up to look the beach over again today..... I am hitting it this weekend unless the weather turns to absolute crap.... the tides are screwed up again but the days are long enough now that I should be able to get on the beach a little after 2:00PM.Here are some pics of what it looked like today and the 1/3rd bucket of sand I brought home..... only had one bucket today so I was lop-sided.... damn that was uncomfortable. Will run it probably tomorrow.
  15. I'm waiting to hear how it works with an MXT. Any info yet?
  16. Well I went up to my little beach today but didn't take the sluice....At least this time I did take a couple buckets with me and brought back about 2/3rds of a 5 gal bucket. Now I'm bummed because I didn't take the sluice..... Granted the weather today really sucked and almost didn't go at all.Anyway here is a little glimpse of the recovery.... This is the first little shake out and clean of the cons... did two more shake outs and got about double that amount for a total... Here's a quick little video of the surface... I think I am going to get back out there in the coming days... especially since the weather will be breaking and the tides are favorable.
  17. Hey idaho...... No I haven't heard of that mat. Have you used it yet? I use the cleangold sluice, it's the magnetic sluice. since I run beach sand there is basically no classifying to do unless I am in cobble then it is just a simple rinse in the basket. And it is pretty good on the beach.
  18. OK the weight is in..... drum roll please...... 5 Grain.... I will be locking that massive haul away so none of you guys get any ideas...... Remember this was from about 3 gallons of previously cleaned cons so at current spot of 1218.80 thats a little over 11 bucks. Lets deduct a grain for impurities and it makes it about 9 and change. I got the magnetics out of it but there is still a tiny bit of non magnetic material . Also remember this is beach gold.... -100 mesh and smaller.
  19. WOW..... Great job Steve. A valuable resource for anyone looking to go this direction.
  20. OK... Got a little ambitious and finished the cleanup.... Remember this is what a lot of people toss out after they have done their cleanup. this came out of about 3 gallons of already cleaned cons that would have ended up in the drive way. I will weigh it after it has dried out.
  21. Well the weather has turned pretty nasty and I wasn't able to get out today, hoping to before the weekend is over though.... Sunday's forecast looks better. SO... I did a little cleanup of some old cons that I have had around and here is a little of what I got..... I have more that I will finish up tomorrow.
