  1. Randy, I had the CTX set on the stock "beach" mode.....nothing special. SL, The small junk ring is made of copper wire. The large coil is a must at the beach in order to get max ground coverage. As long as I'm diggin' good targets, the coil doesn't feel heavy.....funny how that is!! Rob
  2. Headed to a local beach this afternoon for a much needed break and managed to swing for five hours. Picked up $13.75 in change, including a 1942 wheat penny, a large mens 10K gold 1976 class ring (which has initials, so I'll do my best to track down the owner), a .925 ring and .925 earring. The class ring has a gross weight of 17.57 grams giving it a pure gold content of 7.32 grams. Plus found some other odds and ends including three junk rings. Hunted with the CTX 3030 with the 17" coil. Not shown in the photo, 37 corroded zinc pennies that I pitched in the garbage. Good luck and happy hunting, Rob
  3. Steve, That sure is a beautiful nugget! Thank you for sharing. Rob

  6. Headed out for a quick park hunt in the afternoon, not really expecting to find much. I've hunted this particular park many times, as have many other detectorists. Classic story.....heading back to my vehicle, ready to call it a day and picked up a 12.45 signal on the e-trac and popped this 1871 "S" seated liberty dime. It was a shallow two inches deep, next to the curb and ten feet from my truck. This is the oldest coin to date for me! Rob

  8. Strick, I was using the stock coil. The 18k gold bracelet iD'd at 12.02...it was low "grunt". The other gold rings iD'd at 12.10 - 12.17. Hit another beach yesterday for 5 hours. 18k gold ring with diamonds, 14k gold ring with emerald & diamonds and 7 silver rings. Plus a tremendous amount of coins....over $50!! . The digging was fast and furious! All found in the wet sand and surf.
  9. This represents about 14 hours of hunting last week over a three day period on an ocean beach.

Hit a beach with some major erosion and found some nice items. 18K gold solid link bracelet, 9 gold rings - all 14k - two with diamonds, 4 .925 silver pieces and a 14K gold stud earring. 18. Here's a video of some fabulously large nuggets detected on Oct. 6th, 2013 on a dig in the Swauk Mining district located close to Liberty, WA. The claim owner, Mike Corbley passed away five months later on Mar. 3rd, 2014. Liberty WA, is also known for producing spectacular wire gold....check out this video...
