  1. I decide no as well. Even though I really thought it performed well at the beach. I did not like how the 11" coil with all the supports caught the sand, so I was hoping for a Coiltek 10X5 to dedicate it for the water. If Minelab only comes out with an 8X5 this detector will be a total no.
  2. Could it be that the Quest V series does not comply with FCC guidelines/requirements?
  3. How do you think your depth of detection is with these settings?? Have you ever compared same fringe targets with filters off?
  4. Awesome for you!!! It is has so long since I found Plat.
  5. Well since I only detect in Mexico, the quest would be for somebody else! I might give it a test on the beach first though!!!!!
  6. Looks like Quest is sold in Mexico. I could be tempted to bring one back! 😎
  7. What about the gold in this range? As a pure beach hunter, myself. If the Deus update would put all iron falsing 90-99 I would consider this the biggest gift EVER! This would mean I could confidently pass iron and retrieve almost all gold targets. Not trying to be critical here but 40 silver coins that come out of the ocean is not worth squat. There is no collector value of silver out of salt water. One gold ring removal would crush what 40 silver coins are worth. I would seriously notch out this "new" iron range and concentrate on lower numbers. Am curious to see what other beach hunters are seeing for iron falsing.
  8. Heard if you smear honey on your coil any unit turns into a bear detector!!! 😃
  9. Well my reference to conditions is about EMI. If I can run the Equinox at 21-22 with the 11 and 15" coils, WHY would I ever want to try a 6" coil on a salt beach? What if I told you for the block and a half that I have EMI issues on, the Deus2 is unaffected. {Which it is} What detector would you pick and how would this affect your test? This is why it was important to say what detector you were using. It also only confirms what you experience in one location. ONLY! Not general rules on how all SMF will work. As for the Tarsacci, it sounds like it might be the detector of choice for your location?
  10. So not being able to update my Deus2 yet, leaves me watching everyone else. Boy it sure got quiet after v1.1? Did it solve everything, or did everyone unhappy just sell their machines? 🤣
  11. I think you are wrong, and it is a very narrow focused, test you did. In four YEARS of running the Equinox on a daily basis the 11" and 15" were able to run 1-point of discrimination difference depending on the conditions that meant 21 on the 15" and 22 on the 11". also, if conditions were better, I could run 22 and 23 sensitivity. I am not missing ANYTHING at these levels! Your theory would be completely incorrect with a Tarsacci, as the 12" coil could run at the same sensitivity and that coil could clearly detect deeper than the 11X9. After this next season of beach hunting, I will be able to confirm the differences of the Deus2 with 9" and 13x11" Coils. I am betting my sensitivity levels will be close! I will say as a general rule a larger coil will not be able to run at the same sensitivity as a smaller coil. But small and large coils are also used for different reasons!
  12. Jeeze. This is WAY over the top. I do not understand this little bit of sweat issue for QUALITY headphones. Going to still stick with my Black widows 365.
  13. I suppose anything is possible. I have never met a salt beach where the machine is out of tracking. If one is hunting in and out of water contact, it would not matter the beach for sure.
  14. Is does not matter the machine. Equinox, Deus2 and Manticore. I run them ALL in automatic sensing Ground Balance at the beach.
  15. Why not run auto-sensing Ground Balance? It is recommended in a salt environment anyway.
  16. NONE>>>Period! He should be letting everyone know what a game changer the Manticore is on gold chains!
  17. I have said this before and have been chastised some. One better understand their Deus 2 and have the ability to dial this machine in for your location. Or you may severely be handicapping yourself! This, is why I am always burring a 14" gold ring when making changes at the beach. It makes the Deus2 a bit of a PIA!
  18. Audio response and sensitivity kind of go hand in hand. I hunt in audio 5 at the beach and like to control the rest of the noise with sensitivity. Did you try a few points lower of sensitivity at 5? Were you able to raise sensitivity when you ran at audio 4 in the update? This is where testing targets at fringe depths really helps in knowing your machines performance.
  19. Regardless of where you are it is YOUR responsibility to get the machine back to a repair center. When I am 2500 miles away from my home in Mexico and a detector breaks, I have two options. Air freight it out at considerable expense or suck it up and bring it back home to the U.S. with me to mail. Now you understand why I have back-up detectors!
  20. Anyone can set-up a "gotcha" moment. Your test is not realistic.
