PG-prospecting, Instead of digging in the ground. You can do the same setup in a large plastic tot.

I don’t have really any experience detecting for nuggets but I can tell you a 1 1/2” dredge does not move much material. To be honest you would probably be better off with a grizzly gold trap sluice and a shovel in my opinion plus that setup is lighter. I have a 1 1/2” dredge and it basically just collects dust now. The pump works well for a high banker though ????

I have both Garmin and Magellan. The Garmin is definitely a better unit. With that said the Magellan’s are cheaper. Not sure what your budget is.

Strick and Steve, You can also run parallels so you don’t have to power down and reboot to windows like you do in boot camp.

So Many Waterproof Detectors But I Need Air
Ruthless79 replied to Ridge Runner's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Chuck, They make much less expensive hookah systems. The biggest thing make sure you compressor is oil less and run an air filter. I am a commercial diver for a living if you have any diving questions let me know. -

U_U, The gold monster seems to be an awesome machine but after reading tons of reviews and watching videos. I have pushed it off because the equinox can get tiny gold close to the monster but also do much more. Out of the 4 vlf machines I have cut down to the equinox and Deus. But still have not made up my mind. -

Jeff, Thank you that was pretty helpful. I a novice with metal detectors so I am learning as much as I can. With the high mineralization would you recommend a PI machine in Colorado over a vlf. Steve had pointed out that if I got a PI I would dig everything which pushed me away but if the vlf will struggle that would be less productive then digging all. The equinox is on the short list with the Deus. So many choices and I hate spending my money on things that don’t perform well so I usually research things to death before I decide. -

1515Art, I am leaning towards the Deus a little bit over the Equinox and not so much because it is better then the Equinox but more because it has been out longer most bugs are probably worked out. The advantage I see the Equinox having is that it is waterproof with out having to have a case and coils might be cheaper. I read tons of Steve’s reviews today watched a million videos. I am coming to the conclusion that any high end detector is going to suit me well as long as I take the time to learn it. Also I would not mind hearing about some of your research you did. -

Dredge Questions
Ruthless79 replied to Creekboy's topic in Gold Panning, Sluicing, Dredging, Drywashing, Etc
Creekboy, Also the type of gold you are chasing has a lot to do with your setup. Where I like to prospect dream mat does much better then the traditional carpet and riffles. In your area the results may be different. But something to keep in mind. Good luck with your decision. -

Ruthless79 replied to Ruthless79's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
phrunt, I went and read some about the sdc2300 and it seems to be an awesome machine but like you said it has a fixed coil and Steve also pointed out the dig all downside to PI machines. Which is not a big deal in soft ground but the stuff in Colorado is rocky and super hard where I am at. also after reading a bunch of Steve’s reviews this morning I may have it knocked down to Equinox 800 or XP Deus with HF coil .They both hit well on small gold and I can use them elsewhere if I want. I will read some more about them and hopefully make up my mind. -

What Detector Would You Get?
Ruthless79 replied to Ruthless79's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
I currently only have a Tesoro compadre. I have found lots of lead? spent casings some clad coins lots of metal trash. I would like to find some little pickers and nuggets if I am lucky. I sluice and highbank for gold now just trying to add another way of finding gold and other treasures. The little Tesoro is a good entry level machine but I am looking for something with a few more features. -
I keeping going back and forth on several detectors. If you had the choice of one, I would like to hear your opinions and choices. Makro gold kruzer Minelab equinox 800 Minelab GM 1000 XP Deus with HF coil I would love to get a Minelab PI machine but unfortunately I think they are out of my budget at the moment. And there seems to be lots of mixed opinions on the whites tdi. So I figured a good vlf would be the best choice for my next detector. Most of my gold detecting will be in Colorado so I am not expecting huge nuggets but gold is gold and it all adds up ???

Thank you GB_Amateur I live a few hours from Denver in Westcliffe. I can definitely try and make it to a few meetings here and there.
