Semi-auto GPZ Ground Balance
Sourdough Scott replied to Sourdough Scott's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
I like how you brought it up that it is running more like the 5000 with the semi auto ground balance. When the 7000 came out, I was trying to make it run like the 5k. But the 7k is a different beast. But since the software upgrade, it does seem to sound like it is running like the 5k in fine gold tuning. All I know is that I like it so far. Going to hit some new areas behind the Johnsville are this weekend. Will be at Ross Camp. Stop by for a cold beverage in the late afternoon if in the area. -
Went out yesterday for a full day of detecting. Wanted to try the new semi auto ground balance. Went with pretty much basic default settings otherwise. I have to say I was quite pleased with it. I was in one of my beat to death patches. Lots of magnetic iron stones, hot rocks. It ran very smooth. It seemed I could separate the targets very distinctively. The small bits of wire were a raspy on the edges sound. The square nails were bangers. The non ferrous targets were about the same as the gold targets. Had one really weird target sound. I always dig those. But I usually dig everything 95% of the time. But the weird sound was gold. Not sure if my focus was just better yesterday or it was the new ground balance. But my instincts were pretty spot on, on what the target was going to be. But very pleased with the new update and settings. The take wasn't too spectacular, but I avoided the skunk in a hammered patch.

I got ridiculed here on the forum for saying I got my wife the gold monster 1000. That it was really for me. You're all wrong. I got it all set up for her. Knowing my wife way too well, she will be zooming all over my old patches this weekend.

You can have the desert all summer long. I will take the mountains. Much cooler and in my eye, (my good one). Much more beautiful. There is no gold here anyways. I just like running the forest, swinging my 7000 for the heck of it.

I got it figured out this morning. Kind of a convoluted process that I have never done before. But the update is on the GPZ now. And that is all that matters. Also got the Gold Monster delivered yesterday. Now if my in laws would just go home, I could go detecting . Thanks Steve for your info. Happy Independence Day to everyone. ????????????????????

Minelab Gold Monster 1000 Begins Delivery

Curious about the broomstick coil attachment piece. What would be the uses for this? -
It seems like the hot coil is the 5 inch round. Anyone been using the other 6 x 9 elliptical coil with any success or issues? BTW, my Gold Monster arrives July 3rd. Yippee. Klunker says we are taking the whole week off to go test it and report back to HQ.

Paul has mud crabs. I heard.

One reason I'm going to purchase one is because the wife wants to give detecting a try also. So with the ease of operation and being lightweight, a no brainer. But I think I might like more. What I like about it is that it is easy for a novice to learn, yet still packs a punch for the avid dectectorist. So easy a Cavemen can use it. Or Aussie Nurse Paul..

You weren't holding your mouth right!

I know it is really early in the bout. But possibly is the new kid on the block going to knock out the reining champion of many many years in the gold nugget VLF sport? I'm hearing so many good things about the GM 1000. And I'm really leaning on getting one soon. Hearing so many good reports from " Average Joe" dectectorists. I have had way more experience and success with Minelab detectors than any other brands. So I guess I speak Minelabbian better than anything else. My gut feeling thinks that we might be crowing a new Welterweight Champ. I guess time will tell?????

Gold Monster And Gold Bug 2 Detecting
Sourdough Scott replied to IdahoPeg's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Very nice job. Sounds like the Monster is the real deal. -
Due to National Security and blowing the covert operations of my peoples under deep deep cover. I cannot comment on this thread. And fully recuse myself from further implications on this matter.

Dang, your making me hurt just looking at those pictures. VA nurse Paul would have said Draw a circle around it and get back detecting. Here is to a speedy recovery. -
Gold Lake Area Update

I've heard from several unreliable sources, that Gold Lake Road is now open. Probably couple more weeks until you can get off onto the dirt roads. -
