  1. So we support Minelab by purchasing their so called latest detecting technology. With the capability of doing software updates over your own computer. Then we are told their will be periodically updates to the GPZ 7000. There hasn't been one in 3 years now if I'm correct. So what's the use of even having that option if Minelab is going to hold out that technology for their future new flagship. Until Minelab comes out with. PI machine with discrimination, I'll just stick with my 7000. Why change, I'm already accustomed to the weight of it.
  2. I came across this years ago. If the link doesn't work, Look up Larry Garside from UNR. https://documentcloud.adobe.com/link/review?uri=urn:aaid:scds:US:b182eb24-c36f-4b98-a0ae-bcae2656145a
  3. Update: This is not fake gold news! I touched up the photo to show the striations of the nuggets. They are very unique. Especially for this location.
  4. I want to thank everyone for the tips and advice. Much appreciated. I took a try at making a homemade one out of ply and some fabric I had around. I'll see if it works.
  5. I got me a Gold Buddy Drywasher a few years ago from a friend. Never used it, now I have plans to use it, and can't find the insert that holds the Drywasher cloth under the riffles. If anyone has one and can shoot me a picture of it? And or any other ideas of what cloth to use? Much appreciated. I would have put this in the gold prospecting forum, but wanted to get some exposure on here first. Steve can move it or delete it after I get some help from you guys.
  6. Just saw this on Facebook. This is a changing of the guard moment in American metal detectors.
  7. Tom, I'm amazed you defected from Whites! Lol. Nice job on the nuggets.
  8. I guess the treasure has been found. https://www.oldsantafetradingco.com/
  9. Here is a link to a site dedicated to pull tabs. https://pulltabarchaeology.com/archaeology/
  10. I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Fred. I thoroughly enjoyed him. His Chili Verde was famous. But I actually met Fred when I was 12 years old in Portola. We got new neighbors next to us. Fred's sister moved next to us. And Fred was doing drywall in Portola, staying with Rosemary. It wasn't until I joined WSPA, that Fred and I were talking at a outing dinner, he heard I was from Portola, and asked if I knew his sister, I said yes, she lived next door to me. I then remembered him. It was 35 years later. My condolences to the Mason family. 🙏
  11. Rooster is quite upset at you. He even calls you Uncle Norm! And you forgot all of the essentials for a mining dog. Like milk bones, pizza, jerky, salami and both of your favorites, rice cakes. Let alone cheese and crackers. Roo is very sad right now.😢🐕
  12. Klunker and I are all ready to go to the diggings for the season. Wondering what did we leave off the list? What would you add to it?
  13. This is welcome news to me and GPZ 7000 owners. Can't wait to find out more information on this. Hopefully 40% lighter and less expensive. 😝 https://www.nuggetfinder.com.au/
  14. Omen for what. The 1st frickin thing you thread on breaks. So you tell me. This aint my first rodeo with detectors. I know the routine. But minelabs technology is the best hands down. But the strength of it's outer body components are obviously getting thinner and less strong. I just stated my opinion. Really don't need your opinion back.
  15. I just purchased a new Equinox 800 today. I was threading the armrest/ stand screw through the shaft. Well, the threads were tight. Then the plastic nut over the screw stripped out. Hopes this isn't a bad omen to start.
  16. There are no elephants where Klunker and went detecting today. But I would have felt better having the 69 Cal. A big kitty is roaming the area we detected.
  17. I went to a beaten patch yesterday. I pulled 7 nuggets out of it for approx a 1/4 oz. The reason they were missed by me earlier, it because it is usually very wet ground. But we are having a very dry fall, so I was able to hear the soil better.
  18. And I thought you were taking about a different kind of Piles....
