  1. I got mine today, the add looks great and is a full page deal. No pricing, just more suspense.
  2. I totally understand what your saying Steve, I like your analysis of the detectors you choose at this particular time. I have been detecting long enough to know as we grow older and more experienced, always learning, we want the best machine for the particular job we are doing. I am with you on the PI, at this moment I am hitting some trashy areas on tailings, crawling on my fours..I can tell you my shoulders in the evening feel it. I want a light weight vlf for these types of areas. Having your arm extended and scanning under bushes with a PI can do some damage. I have used the MXT in the past, but the weight would discourage me from buying another for myself. I have used the lobo and taken the housing off to relive the pain in my shoulder, but after reading some of your posts about the others I have narrowed it down to the F19 for now or the Fisher GB Pro.
  3. Steve as usual great analysis of the detectors. But I was wondering why you left out the Whites MXT Pro from the bunch? I know you said previously that the MXT has found pounds of gold up in Ganes Creek Alaska. Is it still a good option for nugget-hunting, or are the units above leap and bounds ahead of the old MXT? It obvious the new units that you tested have many more options than the MXT, but when it comes down to performance, dept, ground tracking and the ability to go deep on gold, does the MXT fall way behind?
  4. Great information about chemical leaching....like most of us I am not interested in this process. Rather be wandering and scanning, in my zone and digging targets. Chris, thanks for all your info, I just learned a few things...and its only 6:15 in the morning.
  5. Just to be clear, the TRX is a great product..and some including myself find it to be more sensitive. But I would have rather had the power and a simple on off button.
  6. I would have to agree on the Garrett Pro Pointer....I liked it ,than sold it because I wanted the hotter TRX. The problem with the TRX is that every time you turn it on and off you get this beepin noise and like you said Steve, I happen to always look at the dang light to make sure its on or off. I also found it very sensitive to hot soil, you can balance it out, but than again you have to go through a ground balance procedure. Basically its to much work I will end up getting the new Garrett Pro Pointer AT when available and use the TRX for that extra punch if I need it. I like a simple effective machine, that saves me time on the field and the Pro Pointer did that. The more targets I dig, the better odds of locating a nugget.
  7. Steve , just wondering....have you ever hit a nugget with your pick? I have to admit I have and it just killz me looking at it. I carry a pinpointer now, just in case. I don't use it on every target, but I find that in certain areas and grounds I have to be more careful, helps me pin point the target and than I careful dig around.
  8. I would agree with you Steve on Tesoro...rather disappointing on the R.& D. of new detectors. Like you said perhaps what we will see is more companies from abroad coming into the game and producing better machines and services. One example is Nokta in Turkey...your review got my attention..so we shall see what happens in the coming years. Right now, like most serious hunters...Minelabs next and greatest is what I am waiting for, only if its a huge jump from the GPX 4500 that I have now. Fred
  9. Jerry R.I.P. my friend. Thanks for fighting the battle for us, I would be the first one to say without people like Jerry, we would not have the rights we still retain. PLP and A.M.R.A... and many others have been instrumental in keeping us out there so to speak, doing what we do and that is searching ..and hoping that one day our dream whatever that may be comes true out in the gold fields. May your journey be peaceful. Fred
