  1. That is a 1976 Kennedy Half. I don't get many of those. I found it about 5 feet before I found the chain.
  2. Sometimes you are just at the right place at the right time. That was the way it was today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/323941407669

  4. Here is a lot of trivia for you but it does give an indication of how much gold is really out there: The Ultimate List Of Gold Facts (gainesvillecoins.com) #51. German households own 9,100 metric tons of gold, mostly in bars and coins. This is greater than the gold reserves of the United States. #52. Indian households are estimated to hold more than 25,000 metric tons of gold (mostly in jewelry.) This is more than the gold reserves of the top 10 nations put together. #53. Switzerland has the highest per capita gold reserves in the world, at 120 grams per person. #54. The top five nations with the highest government gold reserves are: US (8,133 t) Germany (3,361 t) Italy (2,452 t) France (2,436 t), and Russia (2,922 t).
  5. Chase, Glad you are aware of it and you let us know. I'm still without Chromebook access just for the sake of noting it. The traffic/click thrus will be reflected in the AdSense revenue for the website. You can only do what you can do. Mitchel
  6. I am using a Win10/Edge computer that I go to the Chrome browser and when I login to Chrome there it lets me in to DP.
  7. I've logged out of that computer several times and I still can't get past the error message.
  8. Not too much, it is hard to calibrate. hehe
  9. This is a little bit of a test to see if something can be uploaded. I think it can so this metal detector made in Germany has some very different ideas. You put a sample in the metal you are looking for in the handles! klayzer gr pro Gold Detector | European Technology Group (eurotechnology-group.com)
  10. I just did a check of all activity and I know traffic and posts are way down so few are able to post and few are able to read.
  11. I think if someone were to look at the traffic on the website and see when the last time regulars loggedin then you could tell how many are affected.
  12. I have to use a windows computer to get on and view it. Everything on my Chromebook works except detectprospector.com I can get on with this computer in Google Chrome or otherwise I would think the entire site was down. If I do a Google search and then click on it I get the error message about tables. I thought there was something I had to do to my tables but with everyone else having a problem then it is more than just my Chromebook/terminal. Good luck Chase.
  13. We averaged much bigger in this area but that was a few years back now.
  14. When you are not a regular at nugget detecting you forget things sometimes and that is what I did last night. I decided I had a few hours in the middle of the night to make my 3 hour drive to a nugget patch where I've found more than 100 nuggets. The problem has been the last 4 trips ... well ... I didn't add to the total. This trip was somewhat of a hasty decision as I also wanted to see some of the Perseid Meteor Shower. When I got about half way to my patch I realized I didn't have anything but my sandals. I had left my old boots and new boots sitting near the door. What can you do? I saw a Walmart but none of them are open all night any more or at least this one was closed at midnight. I went to the truck stop, then another, and another and back to the second one and got the only 'shoes' available! Now, that is hunting nuggets in style! It was about 2 AM by the time I got to the patch and got my gear on (I had everything else) and started walking in the last place I had found a nugget. A couple of hours later I took a break and no joy so far. The only thing I saw was a grey fox looking at me when I shined my flashlight on him. I looked to see the meteor shower and it was cloudy. So cloudy in fact that when the dawn came there was a little bit of rain. It was just about this time when I finally got one of those sounds you detect for. I tested in Bogenes settings and much less. I scraped and it was still in the hard pack! Yes ... it had to be a nugget. And sure enough it was down about 5 inches. I estimated my Find Point to be .2 g (actual weight .18g) so I was on the board. The heavens decided to celebrate with a sunrise and some rain and partial rainbows. I had spent 6 hours at this spot and it was time to move. Just as I was making the move I noticed a bird had landed near the car. It was a hawk and he was not afraid of the car for some reason. Best I could figure is that he wanted me to scare him up a mouse of something to eat. I got a picture of him. It was a good morning. I didn't get skunked. The desert is really beautiful.
  15. I just went out to the beach this afternoon with my family. I KNOW I should detect the blanket line much more these days. There were 100x as many people on the blanket line than in the water.
  16. Strick I have two flash lights for night hunting. Over the years I have gotten up early to beat the tide hunters and very rarely do dry sand. My wife chastises me for this single-mindedness. For the last few months with a new baby I haven't gotten out but that is starting to change some now. I went to Pismo for my honeymoon a few years back. We took our metal detectors and hunted the pier there. My wife met a guy who had really great finds on his phone. I eventually came over and looked and I was impressed. I always wanted to go back but haven't yet but it is like most other beaches. The more you hunt it the more you know and the more you find. Blanket lines can be very productive because you can see what 'happened' the night before. Back in the 80s before I took a 20 year break from detecting I found a nice watch I wore for 20 years. This had been a 'sleep over/love session' and when they got cold they left. If you go after sunset you can see the losts from the day before but there still may be some other activity you want to avoid with drinking parties and stuff like that. Another reason to get up early and hunt the blanket line is to get there before the rakers on the beach. I suspect that is why the guy you see is out there along with the replenishment. Pismo is a tourist beach even for Californians. Stuff gets lost at all beaches. Good luck. Mitchel
  17. Here's wishing you luck that it responds. I would say if it doesn't you've already found what was there. Mitchel
  18. Sometimes a 'method' works and sometimes well ... you just don't get over a good one. Fortunately I did have some clues that kept me true long enough for it to pay off. The light little ring was very shallow. There were some deep pennies. Targets were not as 'clear' so I had to dig at all of them and not rely upon a certain ID. Anytime anyone hunts a beach you also have to add an element of luck. How many other 'good' things did I miss? That is where you choose a 'method' and a certain beach to increase your probabilities.
  19. It has been a few weeks since I found any gold but today was the day! I got the 10k/2.65g diamond (tested real) ring by following a pattern of the washed up rocks. This is not a zigzag pattern that can be used to find the line. This is a look at the rock line and just stick with it no matter what. When you find something you can do a little circle but when the tide is coming in you have to keep going or you lose the opportunity. Today it worked out.
  20. Here is a compiled list of some of the most valuable finds with metal detectors. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/buried-treasures-worth-a-fortune-found-with-metal-detectors/ss-AAL4eVQ?li=BBnbklE#image=1
  21. You have to give more information. Where were they found? Are any of those magnetic? How do you know there is nickel present and how did you know about a recent classification? One or two of your 'rocks' look like some meteorites I have found in Arizona that embedded in caliche.
  22. I've had a chance to swing a 6000 for 20 minutes or so on a very trashy area. I found myself wishing it had discrimination like a VLF. A tiny shard of a can really screams. I used my X-coil in the same area and thought the same thing. It can get very discouraging digging everything when it doesn't include any nuggets. The 6000 and X didn't see any hot rocks in this area so something is working for them but discrimination has its place to keep your head in the game for the good stuff.
  23. The shaft of the 6000 is 'smaller' than any Minelab I've had but I don't think that would make much difference if you are working a patch at low tide or out of the water sand. (I can see the wavers and over-swingers now about a foot off the sand because it is so light!) It would make a difference if you ever wanted to swing a coil in the water. I don't think they are waterproof however. It will be interesting to see if the salt can be ignored and it can go deep. I look forward to your reports.
