  1. Here's a bit of info on the token: San Francisco, ca. 1920s. 🙂
  2. Thanks GS, I did finally notice the hole all the way through some of them. This was where the Savannah River meets the ocean but they may have use for that sort of weight there, I found many more than I kept scattered over a small area. Maybe someone dumped a box of them 😀 there was a Civil War skirmish that only lasted a few hours before the fort surrendered, first use of rifled cannon, but I knew these weren't old. I use the pyramids as well and one called a "frog" in the Outer Banks for surf casting. 🙂 I don't do much freshwater so I didn't know.
  3. It's also too easy to not properly connect a charging cable, or to get distracted putting the detector away and forget to charge it. 🤬 Some detectors can charge while running, get yourself a power pack and some small bungees if yours will charge while running. 🙂
  4. Wow that is an awesome collection of early 1900s history! Looks like an active place like one out behind my house. I've pretty much stripped it clean but find stuff there once in a while even now. May even be a small dump for a house. 👍 Bet there are a lot of Mason Jar lids there. 😵 I dug a similar "heads I win" token from Cascarets, it's a laxative. Looks like it was nailed to something for luck 🤣 https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia82636.html Very cool photo background, what is it you're putting your finds on?
  5. I was always in local bands, but yeah the EV 18s were rough. Used to have a Fender Twin with the orange basket JBL's, not only was it the loudest amp I ever had, it weighed a lot. 🤣
  6. It was spread out over 8 days, about 3-4 hours hunting every morning. It was a lot of scooping tho 🤔 😀
  7. Finally got around to doing this. 😀 This is everything I dug on my beach trip. 100 coins, $10.05 can be tendered, it's all new. The oldest dime was a 1967, oldest quarter 1983, oldest nickel 1970. The oldest penny is 1970. 2015 D Truman dollar on the extreme top left. 👍 that's the "rare one". One of the chains is .925, the other is gold plated copper. I tested all the stones in the jewelry on the top right, only the small diamonds in the #1 are real, so its setting may be white gold but it was broken off the original piece. Got 4 rings, 3 costume and one .925. The hairpin is costume. Still curious about the 4 lead "bullet" sinkers, and the shark tooth earring may be silver wire. 🙂
  8. Yikes, I'm sure your Powerbeats Pro earbuds are great sounding and certainly are pricey, but your error is assuming they are Aptx-LL compatible. They are not. What this means is that what you hear will not match up with your swing, causing you to mis-read the position of a target on the ground. Worse, you may only hear the target on one swing, not both. 😵 There are a lot of great resources on this site explaining the need for Aptx-LL protocol in your headset to use with the Equinox. The resources also suggest many sets of earbuds and headphones, on-ear and over-ear that will work perfectly. Use the search function and search for Aptx-LL, that should give you just about everything. Pairing them is then easy, you simply do a full reset on your Equinox, wait until the WiFi search ends, turn your new headset on (assuming this is for the first time and you have not paired it with anything else), set it on the arm cuff and go make some coffee. It can take up to 5 minutes to pair, usually about 2-3. Of it falls to connect with the B+ symbol, simply power off both and try again, turning the Equinox on first. I see this is your first post, welcome to the forum. Stop in Meet and greet and tell us about yourself! 👍
  9. Lots of times the find could be under other "natural" fertilizers, what then? 🤔 😀
  10. Yep, that strap around the top can be a shoulder strap or belt. I would prefer a Bianchi clip strap, but it's pretty easy to deal with. 👍
  11. Indeed, and I do have a great pair of loppers. 😁 It isn't so much brush but trees. Thing is the "road" becomes more of a trench that a Jeep would struggle with.
  12. It is a place rife with history that's for sure. 🙂 I may embellish a bit, but many famous and historical things happened here - except the Civil War, and it wasn't a big deal in the Revolution. It is and always has been a big east coast farming area, perhaps that it why it was spared for the most part. The 1812 invasion didn't last long either, they came and took supplies, burned some of the place and left 🤣
  13. If I had a jet boat or kayak, yeah, the river that leads to it is only a few hundred feet from my house. Shallow draft only up that way now. It's more of a marsh than it was in the early years. Steamboats used to go up there a long time ago. It would be less work to trek the woods, I have a machete if need be. 😁 That road is almost 400 years old!
  14. That's a nice Silver nickel! Heck I'd be happy with an old button. 👍 I'm sure the "worm will turn" for ya. 🙂
  15. This little field is like another nearby, if you get a good signal it's a good find. I was glad to get one Spanish silver coin here. There isn't much trash when you get away from the road.
  16. I used Google lens, and found quite a few of them from soapstone to wood. https://www.amazon.com/Small-Unique-Gift-Items-Chinese/dp/B07SRMR133 They all range in value from $100 up.
  17. Should have included the link: https://www.amazon.com/Boreeman-Upgraded-Lightweight-Collapsible-Retractable/dp/B083945P76 They've upgraded it to 400 pound capacity. I tried to keep it using the strap as a shoulder strap, but it's much better around the waist and moved to your back.
  18. Thanks. 🙂 This is part of a 1,000 acre 1700s farm that may have War of 1812 relics, just have to get to them a mile away through dense forest. 😀 Talked to the owner again today. The road to the dock is totally overgrown. 😵 Big adventure eventually...
  19. Looks like an old carved ivory totem/seal to me, is it heavy? Does it have figuring on the base?
  20. Sorry, another corny title 🤣 I went back to the field where I dug the half-half real a couple of days ago. It was a cool and fairly windless day, I wanted to see what else was there. Up by the highway there are power lines and huge transformers, my poor Equinox would suffer greatly near the road, so I brought the Deus 2 again. Even the Deus was affected slightly the closer I got to the road, but that's where all the beer cans, foil and slaw are. About 30 feet in things improve greatly. Despite the slight EMI the Deus can lock onto a target with little effort. This is a small field so I figured 7-8 hours would cover it. It's wide near the highway but curves off to a small field off to the left. I want to show y'all a really cool seat you can strap around your waist so you can take a break without ticks or chiggers getting you on the ground, I've seen Chase with one and my fabulous wife gave me this one: It's about 2" thick, and the size of a Frisbee, maybe 10" in diameter. You pop it open and twist it slightly and it will hold 300 lbs! Great if you need a break in a big field. I walked all over this field and got a handful of relics: Most of this stuff is very old. From top left, a rein guide, it is cast with figuring on it, some part of fancy horse tack, a small brass triangular object, 7 buttons. The buttons range from a large Dandy to two Tombacs, 3 breech buttons, and what may be part of a 2 piece, it has a star like design with possible silver plating in the crevices. A boss of some kind, a large lead ball with a hole in it, spectacle buckle, 4 lead objects that are mostly rifle/pistol/buck and a lead bag seal. The third brass knob I've found here, and some sort of threaded brass finial. The Dandy also has silvered highlights: It appears to have 12 sides, but it's very indistinct. One of the Tombacs is highly figured as well and sadly broken: And the oldest find of the day was this spectacle buckle, it was about 8" deep. They date back to the 1650s. I got 3 coins today, a 1970 and 1974 memorial, and a 1909 wheat that I can't make out much else on. 😵 Finds to trash was great today, I'm really getting used to the "tonal nuances" of the Deus 2, and able to distinguish most deep iron falsing. A small amount of iron, buck balls and other junk.
  21. It never ceases to amuse me that so many of us find harmonica reed plates, or pieces of them, but never a whole one. It evokes recall of Animal House where John Belushi smashed the guitar the guy was playing on the stairs. 🤣 Must have happened a lot back then. 😁
  22. I changed the selection in the camera app in my Galaxy to not save location information. 👍
  23. Thanks for the reply. 🙂 I understand the use of notch off, finding pottery can be an important indicator of habitation, I also watched Gary's video. For sure the Deus 2 is fast becoming a powerful detector, and you are absolutely correct in writing that using 00-00 notch could cause one to miss a deep target in a better environment. 👍I was merely explaining one possible use for the setting. Very narrow. 🙂 Looking forward to your future tests. I'm not big on testing, more on finding 😀
  24. Normally I would try to keep notch off in my area. I have no mineralization. Culpeper, VA is unique to me, the soil is so mineralized it throws bars across the ground indicator sometimes. Brutal place. In Culpeper you can pretty much forget "very deep target" if you have a VLF detector. The Deus makes more noise than the Equinox in all metal there, and even that is debatable. It is well known that if you want to find anything deep there you must use a PI detector. There are many other US regions that this would be important in. I explained one use for notch, perhaps you can explain others and not gainsay what you don't know?
  25. Part of what it means is that in the Relic program you can notch out 00-00 so detecting "everything" won't drive you nuts. Chase showed me that in Culpeper thank God. 😀 It may be adjustable beyond that, but I haven't tried it. That was useful in the hot soil there.
